As most of you are aware I am just here to provide emotional support. It is my hallucination that the mighty Arak's rig is just fine. However , I might be convinced to join the winner for the trip in an advisory role , or for tax purposes we could simply claim that I am the security/bodyguard. lol
what pains my heart is to see the group collective ( which normally is a fine , fun group of people that I have grown fond of ) reduced to a mob of whining , crying , back biting little biaaaaaatches
snap out of it. wait for the winner and when they are chosen ..be happy for them as a member of our family that is getting to go and become a little bit better, and remember that in life , It is not the treasure chest waiting at the end, but the journey getting there that is the true reward
    Peace Arak

Arak Zantara reacted to mariushm in List your recommendations for a PSU that won't make me broke
an 1660ti consumes less than 140w.
Your system without video card won't consume more than 100w
So any psu that can do at least 250w on 12v will do.

Therefore even a 450w psu from a known brand that cares about its reputation would be adequate.

already went through this in the other thread.

if you want actual suggestions give links to stores you're gonna buy from or paste list of what you can buy.

My pc sucks. Ryzen 1500x, Msi 1050 Ti OC GT, HyperX DDR4 8 GB 2400 mhz and Corsair VS550.

It lags like hell, minor and major stutters,,thermal throttle on GPU. Smooth gameplay? I have never experienced such thing.

Why does my computer suck ? Because there is no ROG component in it...

Bank information. Not every single device or item I own need to be a payment method. I'm fine with there being more and more options, but personally I want to retain tight control over my money. Software in cars. There's so much smart electronics can do for cars, but abuse will be inevitable. If you think ads on a 519€ gaming console dashboard are bad, just wait. Cloud over local master. Backups are of course great, but I prefer working with local files. Tracking based pestering. I tolerate sharing various information in order to use various services, but when I get six emails begging me to rate your store after using your loyalty program card, screw you. Always online/reachable. You're home? You must let us visit unannounced. You must always answer your phone. It says you're online, why don't you reply? for me i draw the line at anything involving getting an operation to get it 'installed'.

im very enthusiastic about home automation stuff but i do prefer to keep it in the local network rather going through the cloud.

meaning i got all the philips hue stuff and a couple of raspis for digital led strips and motor controlling windows blinds and stuff. also a security camera pi at my front door. but again that is all local network stuff only. that being said i do use lexa for voice intercaction. but not the way its intented. i have alexa send push notification to my account and then my surface pro 3 listens to that feed and does the commands locally. so my amazon cloud is only connected to the push client. and not my entire infrastructure.

wearables can also be very useful. i still dream of riding a bike with a transparent overlay in my helmet for navigation and stuff basically the stuff you get in games as HUD. also tht screen would be full screen then you could hook up a camera and not just show an arrow in the corner but actually virtually paint your direction arrows onto the street. also stuff like a visual representation of your braking distance calculated in real time and much more. again as a wearable maybe in the helmet visor.

im basically open for anything as long as its not implanted into me. so i can still put it all aside and go lay in my garden or go on vacation offline and chill.

tldr: open to everything - no implants though. and not a fan of cloud stuff. but if i can keep the data local im interested.

things that could be implanted in me that could control me i would draw the line at, other then that a modern smart phone has everything on it that the government needs to spy on your every move anyway.

I draw the line where it no longer makes sense to tech something.
Like, a smart dishwasher? Really? I want the damn thing to load and unload itself, not to turn it on and off remotely. What's the point of that?

Some things really aren't better when they are smart, tbh sometimes they are even worse because they are a lot more complex for absolutely no practical reason.

I draw the line at printing.
I have a friend who manually writes down things I may want to reply to, and sends them to me by carrier pigeon. I then write my replies and send them back so that he can type them and submit them under my name.
I want none of that new-fangled computer font stuff on my papers.

And don't get me started on those strips with holes that you have to tear off the sides of the pages.

Arak Zantara reacted to Boyohan in How many casing fans do you need in your system
The problem you have is probably caused by the ambient temp in your room. 36C is quite high so I am guessing you live somewhere warm ?. "normal" room temp (with good AC) is usually 22C-25C. Case fans that are included when you buy a case are (almost) never any good. A good quality fan is PWM controlled and can go from 500 to +2000rpm. A couple of extra fans can help but how much they will improve your temps is hard to predict with your high ambient temps.
