  1. Yup. That's what I'm getting with my 7900X with an Arctic 360 AIO cooler and MX-5. I am tempted to try delidding it and doing direct die cooling with Kyronaut Extreme but really, I don't need to. In games, my temps are just fine.
  2. Damn it. I literally just installed this like three weeks ago. Sticking with NewPipe when this stops working, I guess.
  3. Except he didn't. He skipped around some because there were things Reilly did that Shane didn't object to. I ain't saying there aren't any flaws with the device* and I get that it's not for everyone. I'm just saying a few hundred thousand people are watching it and forming opinions on an already niche device based on a lookover that has some factual errors. I can understand being overly defensive about it. *Just one example, there's the camera software, especially low-light photography. Have to use a custom GCam app to get low light photography to work properly. My iPhone 12 Mini's camera is better. Took pictures while at Best Buy and compared them side by side and thought my iPhone took better pictures, even in well-lit conditions.
  4. Reilly is doing wildly exaggerated gestures and then wondering why they don't work. Some of the criticisms he made were things that actually make sense if you think about it for a few seconds (why the keyboard shifts to one side or the other or why the speakers are staggered in a way so you get stereo in folded and unfolded modes).
  5. Link to the critique. I have pretty similar views to what Shane was saying here. When I tried out the Duo 2 at Best Buy, it was pretty smooth. Didn't run into any issues during the time I tried it, especially not the stuff Reilly ran into. Shane demonstrates that with swiping to the home screen. There was a bit of a learning curve but I think that's more because I'm used to iOS. I was as baffled about this video as I was about Alex's review of the ThinkPad X390 and the stuff he was saying about the TrackPoint.
  6. You'd have that extra on top plus the bezel to fit the webcam in. I know Dell fit their webcam in a really tiny bezel on the XPS15 but IIRC, the quality isn't the greatest. For Apple, it was probably a matter of utilizing otherwise unused space to fit a webcam in with bigger sensors and stuff. I don't personally mind thicker bezels (I use a ThinkPad T15g, which has bezels from 2010) but for people who care about that stuff, they probably would want it a little bit sleeker and shiz.
  7. I get why they did it. It gives the user a bit more vertical space to work with. It's 16:10 plus the 74 pixels for the top menu bar, which is the same height as that notch, which uses up space that would be empty anyway. I just think it looks ugly. It would not be a deal-breaker for me if I was the kind of buy a MacBook, though.
  8. The 4710MQ on my T440p is still doing alright. Sold it to a friend and he loves it. If I didn't have my T430 and my incoming "X330," both with the old school keyboard mod, I'd have kept it.
  9. Video example. You can see CPU wattage drop several times, causing massive framerate drops. CPU or GPU temperatures are running fine and it doesn't appear to exceed the limits of the power brick, which is a 230 watt one. This is happening in Doom and Fallout 4 as well. Not sure what can be done to fix it. I would try to see if undervolting would help but that's locked. EDIT: Was suggest on Reddit that I try ThrottleStop instead of XTU. Will give that a go later.
  10. Oh okay, I don't feel so bad that I've missed all the opportunities so far then. (I would have totally picked Mortal Kombat. Sub-Zero main, though I haven't put that much time in 11.)
  11. I think this is the first PC build video I've watched where I was screaming internally the whole time.
  12. Outside of some laptops with desktop CPUs, the last time you could swap CPUs was with Haswell.
  13. There should be a second Thunderbolt port. It’s the left one of that weird dock connector. Back when I had a T480, I plugged in USB-C docks in there.
  14. Zen 3 is the last generation of AM4 socket CPUs. AM5 will be Zen 4. You can skate by on 8 GB of RAM but 16 is preferable. For 1080p 60 Hz, you don't need particularly powerful hardware. You could do fine with a reasonably recent Ryzen CPU and RX 580 (assuming you can get one that hasn't been price gouged to all hell).
  15. Yeah, those are pretty normal. The only one of my laptops that don't idle that low are some of my older ones like my X230 or T430 (even then, idle temps are in the 40s).
