  1. Having a post secondary degree has nothing to do with the level of ones intelligence or ability to make informed decisions. Many entrepreneurs especially in the age of the internet or even those that are just financially savvy have never stepped foot in a college and done very well for themselves. Regardless this is beyond the point. I question how you draw your conclusion outside of being a hindsight warrior that ATI wasn't valued at 5 billion when it was acquired. It takes zero logic (or education as you have stated) to claim that purchasing anything at half the price would have been better. This is common sense. In most cases the market determines the price of any given sale. Who are you to say there weren’t other bidders or offers on the table for ATI? But again, none of this is relevant since it's not the early 2000's any more.
  2. Are you really still employing the "yeah but" strategy that always fails here? I'm also not impressed with your hindsight warrior tactics... Your argument is meaningless because it doesn't matter. What AMD did 10+ years ago is not current and quite frankly many large tech giants often purchase other IP's and initially take on a loss doing so. It's how you get your foot in the door and acquire intellectual property such as patents along with talent to set the ball rolling. The fact that I have to explain this to you when you apparently "know enough about finance to be dangerous" indicates the exact opposite and continuing to grasp at straws for the sake of argument quoting outdated articles rather then recognize that it's 2020 doesn't bode well for you either.
  3. As much as I respect GN, this is just virtue signalling a nothing burger. So some board partners had to run their validation machines a little longer, big deal... At the end of the day the consumer got a higher performance card for the same price. That's a win in my book. For those users that can't figure out how to run an EXE to update the firmware of the card, I consider those a lost cause or more than likely wouldn't care to do so in the first place.
  4. Who cares? Blizzard has been a dumpster fire since they released WOW essentially becoming the Disney of the gaming industry. Why anyone continues to support this garbage rather then the many other smaller studios releasing new and creative content rather then rehashing the same old shit or jumping on trend bandwagons is beyond me.
  5. What do you not understand that AMD's position prior to 2017 is meaningless? Stating the obvious that the company was in the hole prior to this date brings nothing of value to your piss poor argument. And again no one cares about what you claim to have or could do for employment. You have zero evidence that suggests any part of what you are stating is or possibly could be reality. At the end of the day you're no better than any other mouth piece on this forum attempting to convince others that your opinion is the correct one with nothing to support it. As it sits right now in 2020, AMD is in a good place and only picking up momentum. The "yeah but XXXX arbitrary date" reaches that you have been grasping at to hinge your argument on are irrelevant. I'm not going to bother addressing the hypotheticals you've brought up because unless you sit as a share holder chances are that you know anything more are slim to none.
  6. For someone that claims to "know enough about finance to be deadly" you sure don't look like it trying to cite articles from 5 years ago as if it's relevant today before AMD launched Ryzen or a brand new GPU architecture that we've yet to see how it scales.... I guess trying to convince us through stories with no merit should swing the opinion though, right? Despite all signs pointing to you just being another dime a dozen forum poster attempting to circle jerk themselves over past "accomplishments".
  7. How many "yt creators" actually make a successful living off the platform alone? It's also been a dumpster fire for years now with literally some form of controversy every month it seems. Why do you think channels like LTT have been building/looking for an alternative? Gmail is a completely optional email client among hundreds. Many of which don't intentionally scan through every single email you send/receive to build an advertising profile on you to sell to marketers. So who's clearly the "dense" one arguing semantics that don't actually effect the vast majority of users? I think you can guess the answer.
  8. Clearly. It was a joke to poke fun at apple users that don't know how to do anything outside of the shitty apple ecosystem. I've actually seen people defend itunes wishing it was never depricated despite being the biggest piece of trash software ever with literally thousands of apple users complaining about the program deleting their music among other things.
  9. You know how to read wikipedia, I'm so proud of you! For someone claiming that I'm not adhering to the discussion, you sure haven't done a very good job yourself of understanding the point I've been making this entire time. No where have I stated that an open standard was a "free for all". However, it's very common with open standards that because there is no revenue made after the fact, chasing down hundreds if not thousands of violators through legal litigation is a waste of time. Especially when the majority of these offenses take place in countries like china. So despite moose's attempts to compare freesync to g-sync in attempt to white knight for nvidia protecting their IP, there's no incentive to bankrupt yourself to prosecute perpetrators espeically when the fine is so measily that it won't even cover a fraction of the legal expenses.
  10. Which is just another reason that g-sync doesn't make sense for the premium when most freesync panels do an adequate job. Sub 60 FPS in most cases is a terrible experience so screen tearing or not, at that frame rate literally nothing of value is accomplished.
  11. What? I thought intel only benchmarked windows media player? What are games? Of course core count doesn't mean better performance in this scenario. Most games aren't coded to utilize more then 4 cores yet. Unfortunately for intel there's more to performance then just games. Especially on a workstation or the HEDT platform, Shrout with more bullshit as per usual since joining intel. Nothing really to see here.
  12. I never said that was the only reason. You asked why and I told you. Quite frankly if you can't grasp the benefits of freesync over g-sync at this point in time, why would I waste any more effort with an exhaustive list? You are paying far too much attention to the word "standard" when in a lot of cases the term "open standard" only applies to a feature set that's free for any manufacturer to use rather then a stringent set of guidelines that must be followed to implement it.
  13. What? I've explained to you as clearly as possible what part of your posts are inaccurate. Is your new tactic to complain every time you don't agree with someone on the internet? Maybe pick up a new hobby like sewing?
  14. You can explain it until you are blue in the face. That doesn't change that you are wrong. I don't care if you stay up all night writing a 300 page essay on what you think. Who made the suggestion to post on reddit first? It's not my problem if you can only dish it but not take it cupcake.
  15. So that anyone can implement it without having to fork out ridiculous royalties? "Working properly" is a stretch. It's well documented at this point that hundreds of non "g-sync compatible" monitors work perfectly fine without any issues on nvidia hardware. The entire branding is a farce.
