  1. I am fully aware of where this nonsense started and who started it. The three main issues are: 1) A 268mv spike occurring at a 150 watt overload is NOT an issue. 2) I have yet to see that spike replicated in any other test. So even if it was an issue, it hasn't been replicated. 3) That someone was willing to hunt through foreign languages sites to cherry pick negative information should have been a clue that maybe he wasn't entirely impartial in his analysis. Your source has serious anti-Seasonic bias in my opinion.
  2. None of the Focus models have ripple issues, You won't ever get the rest of list cleaned up if you can't figure out something as simple as this mythical "ripple issue".
  3. The situation you read about was not correctly diagnosed. The psu was either not strong enough to power that particular setup or was defective.
  4. Exhibit "A" in the case against the tier list. The Straight power is not in the same league as the Seasonic Prime.
  5. 750ti has no spinning drives, just an SSD? I don't remember that.
  6. Just because something is improbable doesn't mean it's impossible.
  7. Here is a link from newegg which shows most of the Focus line: https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?N=100007657 8000 50001697 600014002 600014006 4017 4027&ActiveSearchResult=True&Order=PRICE
  8. The Focus you mentioned is part of the line I was referring to. That particular unit is an SFX form factor PSU intended for smaller cases, not an ATX PSU. Seasonic usually includes an SFX to ATX adaptor, so it would probably work. However, SFX units don't perform quite as well as their ATX counterparts due to size limitations. It's not a huge difference, but it's enough that I do recommend getting the ATX version if you have an ATX case. And that applies to SFX units across the board, not just Seasonic.
  9. Oh you think the S12II is the ONLY thing wrong with that list? FAR from it. Just to illustrate one small example, let's use your own stated c6/c7 standard. There are Several PSU's in "Tier c" that do not "meet c6/c7 crossloads". Whatever that's supposed to mean. But they are still in "Tier C". Either you aren't applying your standards consistently, or you don't understand the performance characteristics of the PSU's on the list. But It shouldn't come to that at all since you can change the rules. If a rule is resulting in erroneous rankings, the solution is to fix the problem. You don't dodge responsibility by blaming "rules". On the plus side of things, you have a bright future as a bureaucrat.
  10. The phrase that immediately popped into my mind is "dumpster fire".
  11. It makes zero sense to replace a Seasonic M12II 620 with a Cooler Master MWE Gold. The MWE is a mediocre PSU. If you are going to replace your psu at all, go with the Corsair RMx or a Seasonic Focus. However, I would just roll with your M12II. It's built like a tank and is impressively reliable. It also has a proven track record running exactly the type of system you are trying to put together. Plus it's free.
  12. Well, quite a few of them are very good. The tier lists issues have been a topic of discussion for some time.
  13. I guess, but whoever put that in Tier A was smoking something. You will never see a legit "Tier A" PSU for $37 EVER.
  14. PSU tier list is a mess. It's a good example of why you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet. The G3 is very good power supply.
  15. None. Just have FedEx or the Postal Service deliver everything.
  16. All things considered, the Formula Gold does appear to be the best all around option so far.
  17. I wasn't able to find much on the 600. If it's the same platform as the 500, then it's better than what you have now. However, it's very much a lower end unit. I'm not going to say you shouldn't buy it, but I'm not going to recommend it either. Its serviceable, but I personally prefer something with a little more muscle.
  18. Jonnyguru's reviews are more far more trustworthy than the tier list here. The tier list is a bit of a mess in my view and there are some really good power supplies in tier D for VERY questionable reasons. This been a topic of discussion for some time now.
  19. The two are not mutually exclusive.
  20. I just don't get what you guys are so mad about. So what if he went his own direction? Are you going to go crazy every time someone ignores your advice? I would rather he think for himself anyways. We are here to advise, not think for him.
  21. Ignore the peanut gallery. They have a bit of a Seasonic hatred, in case you hadn't noticed. The Focus is a great unit.
  22. I think that's an excellent choice.
  23. It has strong balance of performance and build quality. Think of it as a poor mans RMx.
  24. The Whisper is a strong offering, but nobody has asked you what YOU value. Tell us a little about about your preferences. Do you want the best PSU $80 can buy? Do you want the cheapest reliable psu? Do you want modular wires or are regular wires fine? Do you care about warranty length? Anything you can tell us will help us make the best recommendation for your particular needs.
