Google Engineer Releases Conversations to indicate Sentient AI
mon1ka replied to GeneralTek's topic in Tech News
This doesn't sound sentient IMO. It's impressive it can string together words in a complete sentence but at the same time has it proven it actually understood what was said? This quote from @Artikfalsums it up best. At the end of the day all we're really doing is just projecting human emotions onto inanimate objects. -
were can i sell tech stuff besides ebay
mon1ka replied to weekdays133's topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
To add, meeting up in a BUSY public place is always the best move. If you do plan to do it locally, cash is also a good option. -
that is a long pad. any specific reason you want one that tall?

If it was someone she knew, then how didn't she recognize the name or something similar?

Most cloth pads are water resistant these days, especially high quality deskpads. As for the quality, i've heard from many people who own one that the quality is fantastic. What size were you looking at?

"Play-To-Earn" game Axie Infinity Hacked for 625 Million $
mon1ka replied to 05032-Mendicant-Bias's topic in Tech News
If the game was making enough that $600 million USD disappearing was not noticed, then my question is how much are they pulling in PER DAY to even get to that point? and just out of my own morbid curiosity, what would that be per second?- 11 replies

For context: I'm currently going on a bit of a 'tech declutter' to help me save up for my move to the states and give myself a little extra spending cash/get rid of old tech i don't need or use anymore. One of the items i want to sell is my old kindle 7th generation (model number WP63GW) but i've run into one small problem; younger me set a parental lock password i cannot remember. Normally, this would not be an issue but the kindle is refusing to let me wipe the device unless i disable the restrictions. Since googling produced no useful results, i was wondering if it was possible to wipe it in some other way. When i plugged it into my pc it's registered on both ends and i could even pull my items off of it so that could be a good start. The closest i got to an actual solution was a reddit post from 2015 that said to re download the firmware from amazon's website or contact amazon directly but both links are dead. Is there any way out of my predicament or will i have to go back to punching in guesses to work out what 9 year old me meant by 'sunday is his dog?' Thank you in advance and have a nice day!

Windows 11 is getting more disgusting by the "Insider" Update
mon1ka replied to darknessblade's topic in Tech News
some people only want to see specific system icons on their taskbar. For example, i have mine set up to show my open game launchers and discord, but others like all their icons hidden and some maniacs people prefer every single icon on their taskbar at once. -

The one app i could probably add to this is one i personally use everyday, mainly because my friends are an even 50/50 split between discord users and instagram users: https://igdm.me/ It's an open-source Instagram messaging client for desktop that practically does everything you would want it too. Of cause the Instagram website now supports messaging natively on pc but sometimes its nice to have a dedicated client for it.

As someone who's dealt with buying panels on Ebay, its a good starting place but get ready to be disappointed at least 2-3 times.

How the mighty fall. This really hurts to see because i always saw AMD as the good guys. Remember boys, the higher you climb, the further you have to fall. If a single thing of anything uses that much power how could people be in support of it? That's always been my line of thinking when it comes to NFTs.

oh i misread your comment, my apologies. this 100%. Save for the move then upgrade your whole PC down the road. Upgrading a pc is fun but having a roof over your head is more important
