  1. This process seems to be pretty slow and i don't really want to leave it running while i'm out of the house, can i stop the process 20% through?
  2. I've made a image copy of the drive in macrium which didn't take as long as i had expected, 500gb in 1h15m seems like not long to me but who knows. I'm now running getdataback on a thorough scan. Next i'll run r-studio and hopefully i will discover some lost data, thanks for the info.
  3. Is a sector by sector copy called a forensic sector copy in macrium? Also, is there any advantage to rawcopy or just a preference?
  4. Ok, i'll try that first but can i then still use macrium or paragon after because there may well be files that were wiped or partitions that are non accessible? i simply have no idea what's lurking in that mess. I am only using these programs because i want to use r-studio and getdataback after i have copied the drive. I was advised to do this because of the age of the drive and it's reputation for being a pretty crap drive. Also, if i keep running these scans, does that put a lot of stress on the drive?
  5. Ok, do i need to mount the drive in order to use macrum or can i just select the drive to scan? My only experience with mounting a drive was with the same drive on Linux mint.
  6. I "lost" a lot of music and pictures years ago and the drive is an absolute mess of duplicates and subfolders that is just chaotic. After taking the pc to a "pro" it came back even worse so it's just been mainly left alone for years. I can view what's in the drive but i want to run a thorough scan just to make sure there isn't a lot of files hiding somewhere in the confusion
  7. Ok so partitions and formatting confuse me. Will i have to do anything to the drive prior to cloning it?
  8. I am looking to do some data recovery from an old seagate barracuda 7200.11. I have connected the drive to my new build pc and i've been advised to fully clone the drive before i attempt any data recovery which will probably be done with r-studio and getdataback which were recommended to me. To clone the drive i've been advised to use macrium reflect, hddguru or ddrescue, does this sound like the proper way to go about cloning the drive? I have no experience so any help or extra advice would be appreciated, thanks.
  9. I have no experience in this subject but that seems to make sense, especially for a 6 year old game. I'll try out what you said and if it doesn't change i'll be back to hassle people with questions again, thanks man.
  10. So i started up bf4 for the first time on my newly built pc. I installed msi afterburner and HWinfo so i could see GPU/CPU temp and frameratemwhile in game. My gpu was somewhere around 50 degrees and cpu around 60-65 degrees and imwas getting 195-200fps. That looked great until i actually tried to move in game and encountered huge amounts of stuttering. Now i have a standard tv monitor that i planned to upgrade in a few months (i know a family member plans to buy me a monitor). The monitor i was using was a 2013 LG 27ma43d. I obviously know this tv isn't meant for high fps gaming but if the monitor was the only reason for the stuttering then i completely underestimated how much a standard tv monitor would effect the gaming experience. Was i completely naive and is this the probable reason for the in game stuttering?
  11. Great, i've already come across the fan control in bios but didn't touch anything so i'll give the different presets a go before i try a custom setup, thanks man.
  12. Damn, you two are a real movie couple lol. Rock, paper, scissors sounds a lot more sensible than how some couples resolve things to be honest, maybe mix it up and throw in a staring contest just to keep the romance alive
  13. The fans are definitely connected to the motherboard and they intermittently slow down and speed up so i assume they are adjusting to the under load temps that the motherboard is registering?
  14. Lol good for you man, do you 1vs1 to settle arguments?
