    So is finally time! (Almost)
I got 8k US dollars to invest in a gaming rig that MUST last 5 years, so I’m wondering if the most wise idea would be to buy at day one a SLI of 2 RTX 4090 or a single RTX 4090 that will be eventually upgraded to a single RTX 5090 after 3 years.

About possible bottleneck don’t you worry friends I’ll buy the i9 13xxx
    6400mhz ram
    and 8gbs SSD Mx
so my question is basically just about graphic cards.

OLED can’t really be properly calibrated. There are inherent uniformity issues so one part of the screen being calibrated means other parts will be out of calibration. Then there’s the issue of how quickly OLED displays change/degrade over time. Even if the uniformity problem didn’t exist, you’d have to be calibrating them every 2 weeks to keep them in spec.

Unfortunately curved displays also aren’t a great candidate for calibration either since gamma values and color shift are going to vary from area to area while you use it due to the curve.

    Hello,
I'm a content developer, and I wish to calibrate my OLED TV or old curve LED monitor.
I do not know anything about calibration
I was thinking to buy  Datacolor SpyderX Pro or X-Rite i1 Display Pr but have any idea.
I wish a video about or info
    Thx

Did you notice that this folks at Microsoft Storage Space did not thought to a eject button?
And if you make a pool there is no way out! you lose the data (you will end up losing some of the data and time).

Is like a house, you put the data in but you can't take it out without losing data integrity. There is no door out

Alan Mattano reacted to thewelshbrummie in Storage Spaces issue, need help. How to disassemble Storage Spaces without losing data. After upgrade HDD still same size and need format.
In terms of "dismounting" storage spaces, you only get the nuclear option of deleting the pool (the option against your AM pool) and using the Windows Disk manager to format/allocate a drive letter to add the drive back to Windows normally - obviously that deletes everything. Formatting the pool also wipes data but it keeps the storage pool as-is, rather than disconnecting the drives from the pool (and is the way to change the file system from NTFS to ReFS if you want to do that). The only way to safely keep data is to move it to another drive before dismounting the pool.

Point 2 - it looks like you have 2x 4TB and 2x 12TB drives, so a total of 4 drives. This is what I'm suggesting:
Rebuild the original pool using the 2x4TB drives, with your data on those drives, as it was before you added the 12TB drives Create a brand new pool using the 2x12TB drives Use something to clone the data on the original 4TB pool - now that I've checked, I actually used Paragon Backup & Recovery for this, creating a backup job of the whole disk (it creates multiple compressed 4GB files). The way it works is that it can backup all your data, which you can then you can restore to the new pool while keeping things like folder creation dates (which is what I mean by metadata). From memory, you can save a backup to and restore it to the same drive, so long as you have enough space (which you absolutely would as obviously 12TB is 3x4TB). The idea is that, from memory, this keeps the folder creation dates intact so it's worth trying if you want to keep that (which you mentioned in one of the bullets towards the end of your original post). You can also compare folders side-by-side to check that everything is there and exactly the same before deleting the original pool. The only issue I can think of is whether the Paragon app is OK with you restoring a data backup to somewhere else on the same physical drive - as it's effectively the whole pool you want to clone, it might not like restoring it to the same drive which would mean running one of the storage pools with a single drive only, and I'm not sure how Windows handles that on 2-way mirrors as I've only used the parity option of Storage spaces (that needs 3+ drives, but you might find that to be a better option as data is still safe if one drive fails while it also expands or contracts correctly every time you add or remove a drive. For example, if you create a parity storage space with 2x12TB and 1x4TB drive, you get 14TB of usable space rather than the 12TB available from a 2-way mirror of your 2x 12TB drives).

Here's the link - it's Paragon Backup & Recovery that I used, the community edition is free (though might require email registration). It apparently supports storage spaces but it's functionality I've not used before so I can't make any recommendations on that feature. The point I made in my previous post is that I think it has the option to resize partitions, and even if it supports storage spaces I'm not sure I'd risk using that to resize your live storage space in case it goes wrong.

Because you're increasing the pool size by such a big margin, I'm suggesting creating a 2nd pool so that your data is safe on the original pool, as it's easy to accidentally delete some or all of your data if you're not careful about it. You've got more than enough space on the 12TB  drives to both clone your original data and restore it in its original form without touching or modifying data on the original pool until you're ready to remove it.

Yeah I think so too, but people want a lot for them now and I don't have a great card to re-coup any of that cost with, might just have to bite the bullet or wait to find a deal.

The k80s vram is the main appeal but I do realize it is a very old card, I could get 2 for about $600 or less though.  Or 2 pascal Titan Xs for not much more.

Thanks for sharing those benchmarks, they do paint the 1080 TI positively.  Ill have to check my tensor core stats again I forget where I got the info, most likely one of the benchmark sites.

You are asking them to hire writer who specializes in video games. When they don't really cover that part of the industry outside of average consumers perspective. I would rather say that they should connect to someone with experience of game development to use as consultant or share opinions on WAN Shows. But just like with business analyst or actual practicing lawyer, those would cover very few and very niche topics time to time. For same reason they don't have network professional or handyman in-house. Since those project are like once a year. Easier and cheaper to just hire someone to do video over weekend.

Not sure I follow the math... generally VA = W, give or take 10%.

Don't connect monitors or accessories to the UPS. It's job is to make sure the computer continues to run, not so that you can continue to use it seamlessly.

Are you really sure you need dual 3090s? If so, you're going to have to live with UPS in the enterprise spec (read: loud).

No. You only need to replace it when it wears out, and if what you say is true (seconds per day), you'll be fine for a while.

@PCoverclockMake one post; there's no need for four in a row. Edit your first one if you find you have more to say.

This is extremely overkill for running a single desktop for a few seconds. There are consumer models (in the 1000VA range) that don't require active cooling and will still give you a few minutes of run time, even at full PC load.

So I created my first pc not long ago (about 2 weeks) and here is my build: rtx 2060 - Atx motherboard - r5 3600 - 4x 8gb ram - 650w power supply. Now I know im good for the power but I recently decided to buy a gt 1030 to add more ports for monitor since I know I cannot use the onboard ports because of my cpu and I am already using the 4 ports of my rtx 2060 (I know I love monitors). So will I be ok with me adding a gt 1030 from the power supply pov? It may be a dumb question or not idk im still learning anout pc building.
    Thank you for your time.

I'm Alan Mattano, Ferrari car designer German Frers consultant and now indie game developer of Soaring Simulator WIP . I will need a 3090 plus my actual 1080Ti (running only nvidia physx if possible) to move 10million triangles at 4k textures in VR + 4K 48" curve Tv + extra side HD monitor (youtube kids for my baby) + extra vertical monitor for programming (Unity) while making staff (my art work link) that need fast rendering in Iray Substance Painter. Also my creating and running in editor Speedtree, clouds, complex shaders etc.
With similar characteristics Microsoft Flight Simulator game; Well actually virtual pilots can benefit of a 3090.
Also give you a boost when rendering in ray-tracing exactly 20fps at 4k instead of 3fps with my 1080ti and latest drivers. Plus for example when I'm covering with fabric inside Marvelous Designer the frame of an airplane.

We don't have official forum rules or anything like that yet, but as long as everyone is respectful of each other, and patient with the growing pains that we are going to experience (vBulletin 5 is VERY beta right now) we can make this into an AWESOME community forum.

but the 3080 is only the flagship. it is still supposedly "higher" than the 3080. think the 3090 as the Titan card. It should offer better performance and has more VRAM. also I think the 3090 launches earlier. and so what if they have a lower tier card if you can get your hands on a higher one?

With 8k displays being crazy expensive, not to mention none exist with FeeSync or Gsyn, so why bother. Is there a use case for games that don't game with 8k? Seems like even a 4k 144 Hz panel doesn't suffice a 3090. The official benchmarks for a 3080 in Doom Eternal have FPS higher than 144 Hz in some instances at 4K. So who really needs a RTX 3090, seems like gamers don't need one.
