@Moonzy No lags so far, that's it (hopefully). Thank you!

    Those are pretty much useless.

Also you won't really be able to control the temps in the laptop unforunately. Almost every laptop hits into the 80s and 90s. Especailly the cheap ones. The high end gaming laptops SOMETIMES gets it right.

no. you'll just start to get fps drops if it goes beyond 83 or so, as it will automatically downclock to reduce temperatures.

Your brother is both right and wrong. Since you are running video or live rendering, it will have effect on CPU and GPU usage. This is also said in software when you enable those wallpapers. The effects are to both ways, unless you set Wallpaper Engine as high priority software in which case wallpaper will be smooth. but other software, like even browser, will have issues.

The life-span thing is one of great boogeymans of PC hardware. As there's no definition of what lifespan of each component is. It is greater than warranty period, but we still have hardware working after 20-30 years of use. In this case, I think your brother means degrade in overall performance. Using your laptop at normal loads, this would be 100% load few hours per days and rest of the time under it, will keep it in good and working order for 4-7 years. Somewhere at that point things will start to have issues, depending on build quality. Like fan can die, some constantly heating part might degrade.

If running those wallpapers causes your CPU or GPU to be pinned at 100% all the time, then that will have effect as consumer hardware aren't meant for that kind of use. They will last that 3-5 years still, but you will notice degrading performance at some point after that.

I've had 3 laptops, one died due overheating so not counting that one. One I had to replace cooler after 4 years in use. I retired that at 8 years in use when it was too slow with Linux installed and I couldn't add more RAM (CPU was too slow to run modern websites like youtube also). The one after that has been in use for 4 years now. I just reinstalled Windows on it, and it still works great for my usage. Like I can stream 720p30 at 2700kbps without any issues with that i5. Not higher quality, but I don't know if that was possible before....

Back in my day we would sacrifice having a wallpaper at all for those sweet FPS gains.

For the other games that do work in 21:9, and I assume you don't exclusively game on your system and use it for other things as well.

There's some website ("Ultrawide gaming" or something) that has patches for a lot of games to allow 21:9 resolutions.

Edit: there you go. They actually have this 'hack' for DS3. Granted it's not as good as native 21:9 support but better than black bars

Exactly what I've done. And in my experience only one game I've had hasn't supported it.

In terms of strictly mic quality (which I have personally heard recordings of both) yes. Having not myself heard both headsets I'd have to assume headphone audio quality is similar, however I have an opportunity to try my sisters GSP300's son (Since I just got them for her for her birthday  )

The quality of the drivers (the speakers in the headphones) are one of the things people claim are great in the Hyper Cloud X's. In fairness, this is because most gaming headsets suck at reproducing sound well, though newer headsets are becoming much better with time. That's not to say that the Hyper X's are bad by any means. My comparison was of the microphone sound quality (how clearly you can be heard by your teammates) which is one of those things where you know if someone bought a $5 headset from Wal-mart, because they sound like they're talking through a walkie talkie at the other end of a tin can (If you've ever played a COD or Battlefield game during the PS3/xbox 360 era, you know exactly what I'm talking about).
It helps if we know where you're located! While GSP300's or MH 751's are better overall headsets for the $$$, it doesn't matter if you cant buy them!

The Sennheiser GSP300's, normally $99 are currently $79.65 on amazon. CamelCamelCamel showed that last year during Black Friday the headset was as low as $70, so it might pay to wait two weeks if you can

The main advantage to this over something like the Hyper X's is the microphone sound quality.

Welcome. Tbh, the CloudX's are a very good set of headphones too and are much cheaper... $69.99 HyperX CloudX Pro. You really can't go wrong with either.

Completely understandable and the reason I highly recommend the Turtle Beaches. Or any pair of Turtle Beaches that you pay over $50 for really. They meet all the criteria of your needs.

11 months for one and 1 year 10 months for the other. Keyboards were Redragon Kumara K552 at $49 and E-Element Z-88 at $39 respectively.

Your mileage may vary if you get the above keyboard though.

Kinantay4 reacted to IntMD in PC case transportation
Personally I'd just take it out of the case, put things that will fit fine in hand luggage in their original box/suitable sized box (MB with CPU & RAM installed should fit in the original MB box, and the GPU basically) and anything heavy like a PSU (if I was taking that which I probably wouldn't) and CPU cooler (if a decent one) in hold luggage. The 510 Elite in a box will be likely bigger than is going to fit in an overhead locker (or at least pretty close to many airlines allowances) and with everything in it, it is likely to be heavier than the allowed weight carry-on allowance as well.

You'd honestly be better off shipping it, it'll be more expensive but if you make sure they label it high value they won't toss it around because that comes back on them.

Also, always pack CPU coolers, GPU's, and HDD's separately.

You still havent stated what size your case is. This is simple, measure your case, contact the airline you are going to be flying and give them the specs and they will tell you if it can be carried on.

When windows downloads updates in the background slower computers suffer. If you look at the control panel when you are lagging you will notice that the HDD and or CPU will be pinned to high usage.

The solution is to disable or force the updates to happen. If you go to update and security in the control panel you can force the update.
