  1. tyvm i appreciate this, it's very helpful
  2. So today I'm getting an ultrawide monitor... This is the first time I get one cause i was always hesitant... So for all you veterans, how do you play games that don't support it? I plan to play and stream a LOT of games that don't support it, is there a way to have a borderless window centered on screen while still be able to have, say, obs on one side and discord on the other side? Any other software util you guys use a lot? ty in advance
  3. As per title, if it's dependant on the monitor itself, how about the Odyssey neo G9
  4. That's weird i searched the support board and found nothing there... Their forum is down now i will check back later and post something... Are we 100% sure it's a latest bios problem? I just got this and immediately updated so...
  5. i always put it to sleep.. my power button is actually set up to do that.. still happens almost every time, i just got it to boot back up once, and that one time the ram rgb was on, usually it doesn't stay on EDIT: I wanted to open a thread on ASUS support board but i just created an account and it won't let me.... If someone can post could you open a thread asking if they're at least aware of the issue and if there's a fix in the works?
  6. I recently replaced my mobo with a dark hero cause the old one was having issues and now i'm on the same boat
  7. ok quick update.. I checked the windows logs and this time i did get a WHEA A fatal hardware error has occurred. Reported by component: Processor Core Error Source: Machine Check Exception Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error Processor APIC ID: 7 The details view of this entry contains further information. So this i'll try turning down that core's PBO curve... Altho I don't think that's the problem (or at least not the only one) cause I turned the overclock WAY down already
  8. Computer was built at the start of the year... Quick update... I DDUd, then i recorded a short video tutorial for a friend with obs then played some phasmo with friends and then I was talking to friends on discord for a while... No crashes for like 3 hours... Then i was watching said video tutorial and it crashed... I logged back in, started the video where it left off and it crashed almost instantly.... I gotta say, when I bought this i had some crashes that were kinda similar.. I only had those when PC was basically idle, never had one when gaming or working on intensive stuff... I blamed the PSU cause the PSU market was trash and I had a corsair 850 which was kinda stretched for a 5950x and a 3900, and people on the discord suggested it might be something related to low power protections on the PSU or something... Then like 3 months ago finally parts started to be more available and so i bought a new PSU (corsair HX1200) and I got my water cooling parts so i tore it down and assembled the custom loop and put in the new PSU. Before building the loop, though, I started some testing with the new PSU and i managed to isolate the problem, in all things, to the power cable extensions.... I was using cablemod extentions and whenever i had those in i was having crashes, I took them off and bought the cablemod cables instead of extensions and swapped those in. Never had a crash since, even with overclocking. Until today...

  10. Hello, So today i started experiencing some crashes... two to be exact.. both while playing Dark Souls: prepare to die edition. I tried tuning WAY down the overclock that has been stable for months on different games when it first crashed and it crashed again... Anybody has any insights in what this could be? 11. OK I apologize to everyone.. I didn't mean to be rude but i realize how that might have sounded... So for all my passion, more performance critical project I have a workstation at home... What I need is a laptop that i can easily and effortlessly carry around for whenever I need to be at the office (meetings, sprint starts) or for emergencies (eg need to fix or check something when I'm at the gf's place).. To be fair it won't do all that much programming... And it's mostly going to be to web apps (so node, angular etc... these days all the stack is mostly typescript) That said i want it do be snappy and responsive on anything I do cause money is not an issue here: if it's worth it, I'll gladly pay the money. That said I can't just take the latest gaming laptop and just "well if i need the performance it's there" cause that obviously comes at the cost of weight/noise/heat/etc..... So I'd like something that's solidly built yet light enough to be carried around comfortably.. And by that I also mean it would be a huge plus not to have to bring a power brick with you at all (long battery life) or at least being able to use a regular usb c power brick (fuck razer and their proprietary, unbuyable power brick)... I know the new macbooks (even tho I'm not an apple guy) are pretty good so I was hoping to find something similar that is not apple... But mostly I'd like to hear personal experiences of another developer who has bought a laptop and is really happy about his choice and will 10/10 recommend it... Reviews only tell half the story here.. EDIT: I don't care if it's arm based.. like i said: mostly everything work related these days is on node so....
  12. with "best" i meant "best" regardless of cost... so unlimited budget... or I would just get a dell xps but I'm curious if anybody has any particular personal experience recommendation... Maybe someone bought something and was disappointed then tried something else and found out it was perfect for his use scenario... My workstation at home is OP, it's not about that.. I think it's more about portability (weight and battery) without compromising on other stuff (shitty build quality or uncomfortable or unreadable display).. Honestly i believe the fact it's for software development should make all these things obvious to somebody who can make an informed suggestion
  13. I had a gigabyte windforce some time ago with 3 fans.. the two external ones were connected in parallel to the same controller, whilst the other controller handled the central one.. So they would logically only show as 2 on hwinfo. I would not be surprised if that's the case. Try checking that
