  1. I've tackled the slightly ambitious project for someone of my skill level of putting together a Bluetooth boombox. I'm still in the planning phase and working on the battery/power electronics and am worried a bit about battery safety. The amp board runs at 18-24V so I plan to use 2 12v lead acid batteries in series (Probably something like this). My concerns are how I'm going to charge them, if I need a voltage regulator, and what sort of discharge protection I could put in. My plan for charging at the moment, is to have some battery charger (like an IMAX B6 mini) on the inside, wired to the batteries with the AC input wired to the housing so it can charge when connected to the mains. Of course all the charge settings would be set up before sealing it in. Also, the batteries have nominal voltages of 13.5-13.8v so in series they could peak at 27v+. Would I need a voltage regulator to bring that voltage down to the spec of the amp?And for battery protections. Most of the chargers I was looking into have some sort of overcharge protection so I'm not too worried about that but I was looking into putting some sort of over discharge protection as well that would cut all power once the battery voltage was too low. I'm not 100% sure if it's even necessary, and if it's not please let me know, but if it is how would I go about putting one together, or getting one?Any other electronics tips that might help me out in the project would be appreciated too!
  2. Why would I do another clean install after I install 10. If i install 8 clean then upgrade to 10 from there wouldn't it have the same result?
  3. I'm actually using a 32in Vizio TV right now. How can you tell that the subpixels are swapped from a screenshot?
  4. Maybe my Google-fu sucks or im not in any good trackers but I could not for the life of me find a Windows 8 iso anywhere. Whatever I search pulls up 8.1 links. I've tried those links. Every time It tries to connect to the internet to upgrade it says "We can't connect right now..." even though I am connected.
  5. I'm trying to reinstall windows 8 to get a clean upgrade to 10 but the product key I have is for Windows 8 and not 8.1. I've looked around everywhere and it seems like Microsoft has changed most of their Windows 8 download pages to 8.1 downloads. Does anyone know where I would be able to find a copy?
  6. UPDATE: I've performed a factory reset and used the phone as normal while watching battery life. The battery life lasted about an hour and a half, getting down to 80%. Throughout the battery life I was re-installing my apps and one of my restores required a restart. When I restarted my phone, the phone powered on with 60% battery life then died about a minute later.
  7. I've tried a few different roms, doing wipes of all partitions in between and I've gotten the same problems. Is there a more thorough way of wiping before installing a new rom besides just the wipe options in the recovery menu?
  8. I have an ATT M7 One that is a little under a year old and recently (Past month or so) I have been having really odd battery fluctuations. I’ll link to an imgur album with some of the battery level graphs that I’ve caught in the past few weeks to hopefully help you understand what I’m talking about more clearly since I don’t think I’ll be able to describe them very accurately on my own. So in the first case i’ve encountered I will charge the battery fully, and once the phone is running on battery it will last anywhere from 15 minutes to maybe an hour two and then just die. But when it dies, the battery level still displays 60%-70%.(Images 4,5,6,& 7) Then when I turn the phone back on the battery level will be anywhere from around 0%-20% and will last for another couple of minutes before dying again. There is another case of my battery acting really strange where the battery level will stay at around 50%-60% even though it’s being charged continuously (Right side of Image 1). I don’t know if it’s because my battery’s calibration is off or of the battery is just dying. I really hope the battery isn’t just outright dying; to get to this level of battery instability in under a year seems pretty shocking to me. I should add that i didn’t get any of these problems before I rooted my phone. I didn’t notice it while it was rooted with the stock rom. I initially started noticing the problem after I installed a GPE rom (not exactly sure which). I thought it was just the rom at first but I’ve switched around to different roms and have been getting the same problem. So does anyone know what the problem is or what could have caused it and if it is even fixable at all? Thanks for any input! imgur album : http://imgur.com/a/4PmuO
  9. I just rooted my phone to install the Google edition ROM but before I did I backed up my texts using Wondershare MobileGo. I've used this program to backup and restore messages, contacts, photos, etc. on my phone many times before and on previous phones and it has worked fine. But this time when I try to restore my messages they don't show up on my phone. To be specific, when I first do the restore the threads will show up under the contact name but there will be no messages when I open the thread. Soon after they just all disappear (only the restored messages, not any new ones). It seems like they're getting deleted as they're empty threads but that's just a guess. I thought it might have been a problem when doing the backup so I opened up the file (.sms file) in notepad and all the messages are there. I think it has something to do with Kit Kat but I've never encountered this problem before. So does anyone know how I could restore my messages from the .sms file I was given from the backup or why the messages don't show up on my phone? Thanks!
  10. The preloaded BIOS with the notebook is very limiting, I can't really do much other than change the boot order and function key settings. If custom BIOSs exist for my notebook I am more than willing to try them out if that will help. I don't really use software that utilize multiple threads so turning off hyperthreading may be the way to go. And the current BIOS is set to shut down at 90C and it can't be changed so I know I'm under 90C. It does occasionally reach 90 and shut down in some intense games but not that often. It does often hover around 70-80 though.
  11. I was guessing that this was the case as well. The thing is though, I'm willing to have it fixed at 1.00GHz or something while dealing with the temperature issues then slowly inching it back up but I can't seem to find out how to do that. I checked that and have both the minimum and maximum CPU states to 100% at the moment and it still throttles down.
  12. My CPU lately has been trottling it's clock speed on it's on anywhere from 0.08GHz to 2.82GHz and I have no idea why. I would normally have no problem with this but it seems to linger around 0.08-0.10GHz making my computer act really sluggish. Is there any way to disable this to keep it at a constant clock speed?
