I feel like I just watched a 5 minutes advertisement for the stick rather than a proper LTT video. Where are the benchmark and demos? Stock photos and "I think it'll work"?

Yes it should. Still early for me and just reread your post and saw that it did same on back panel connection. Could be electrostatic interference as well. Bad plug ins? Would seem strange tjat both dont work. I'd check the easy fix first. Hope it works out.

Might wanna think about getting a sound card. Seems like the integrated sound on the mobo is bad. That or it interfeers with other voltages running within the mobo. A problem that is eliminated with MSI's sound boost technology.(Im biased to MSI )

So get that instead just by reviews and marks alone.  My $0.02.  Also, I own it and it's great!
 
Disregard that I totally didn't finish reading the post.  Unless your current power supply isn't working I wouldn't bother.  You're not going to get any better performance out of it.  If both power supplies are about the same age then you're looking at probably the same MTBF.

I'm pretty sure it's a better overall, but if it's your brother's why not just borrow it for the long term?
 
Also, what @Tech_Dreamer said is what I heard too, there is no real advantage other than the components are better quality in the XFX one.

benefits? not something worth the mention as they're both almost the same, but i would recommend xfx for PSU tho i believe they have quite better grade components (slightly better) , they get the psu & capacitors from seasonic i believe, the difference will be slight so it's your decision whether to buy or not..

What is the motivation to change? Is the new PSU second-handed(I assume it is since you said only a few bucks) ?

The psu you are changing for has the same amount of connectors, are you changing because you need more connectors?
 
Those are things you need to think about.
 
Also, if you want a new PSU, G2 series from EVGA is great if your concern is that your current PSU is borked/will break soon. However, if you have a great price on the psu you showed and don'T need the extra 50 watts from your current PSU, go for it. I would watch out however, if it is a secend-hand PSU, make sure you trust whoever is sending it over and ask them why they are getting rid of it.

Don't get that new one, it is not modular so your cable management will look horrible and make airflow worse

I own an Asus VG248QE 120hz and a Korean 1440p monitor that 60hz. I bouight the Asus one nearly thrree months ago and I couldn't be happier about it. The difference when playing Battlefield 4 is AMAZING.
 
But, here's a question, could it be that when playing in other non FPS games, the difference is barely noticeable? For example, If you have to play, say, Tomb Raider, or FIFA 15, would you game in the larger 27" 1440p monitor but only 60 FPS, or would you go for less resolution on the ASUS 1080p one, but get the better 120 FPS smoothnes?
 
What do you guys think?
 

I have a BenQ xl2420t, and it runs 120hz. I configured it to run that everywhere that it can. So I've been using it for half a year already and I went to try and test 60hz and I feel like it was comparing 60hz to 30hz. I'm not trolling or some nonsense, it really just feels that way after being adjusted to 120hz for so long.
 
EDIT :  OMG my first like I feel so special. Oh, and in reference to my comment, I say that also as a person who spent the first three quarters of their gaming life on xbox with 30fps. I've gotten adept at this sort of stuff, but to be honest I think I can eventually just get used to 60hz (even though I dont want), but never again at 30, that's just plain unacceptable. 

In some games you won't notice much because it has a "forced" update rate.
But you will notice an overall smoothness over 60fps.

My opinion on this is wait for Higher res monitors to get 120/144Hz (the monitors now are meant for early adopters and for those whom requires the extra desktop real estate)
I do believe there is a 1440p 120Hz monitor from ASUS

1440p would be my choice.
60fps is still awesome.

In MMOs like Starcraft, RTS LIke Civ 5, Strategy like Company of Heroes and the ARMA series I hardly notice the difference
 
Really the only games I notice the 120hz in are FPS like BF4, BF3, PAYDAY, Crysis 3, Crysis 2 etc, also racing games like DiRT.

ive always wanted a 120/144hz monitor, seems exciting and smooth and all.

Personally i would get a higher res and 60hz.

I think 60 hz is great. I much prefer my nice colors than that little bit of extra smoothness.

I see no difference between DX and mantle, and I have had a few drops where the game couldn't push more then 3fps, but alt+tabing would fix it... only happens on one server, strange
guess ill just report it as a bug... considering I can't see it being on my side.

Ask as many questions as you want I'm glad to give back to the community, next time I play I will check and report back!

that was at stock clocks, when I OC, it doesn't improve performance, just lowers the CPU usage. I actually had a semi-stable clock at 4.9Ghz, but my MOBO just wasn't able to hold on at that point, the CPU was fine, just the mobo would litteraly quit and give me a black screen, with all fans spinning, hitting the reset switch wouldn't do anything, holding power wouldn't do anything, had to force off the PSU, but like I said, it just lowered the usage, no improvement.
 
it's not just me?!? awesome, well not really, but from what you've shown me you have the exact same issue as I do. that at least gives me faith that my GPU isn't DOA, although I do have a question, if you open GPU-Z, what does it say for you, like I have posted above, I get a lot of wrong or "unknown" information [Edit: actually all of it is wrong], I think that might be a link to the problem, although I don't see how, but I have almost run out of ideas.
 
(also thanks a lot for telling me you tried upgrading form a 2500k, you saved me from having to merge two computers together!)

I feel your pain OP I've been struggling with the same thing for several time. Tried everything with no good results. Let me tell you throwing a i5 2500k would not make a difference.I use to own one, @ 4.3 GHz and I was having the same issue as you with a  r9 280x. Recently I upgraded my GPUU to a Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 and same results. Then I sold my 2500k and got a 4690k, OC to 4.4 and still same thing. When on Mantle things work a liiiiiitle better, but since I record gameplay I prefer DX. After months of struggling I finally gave up and accepted that it's something with the game. 
 
For example, on some maps I can mantain 100/120 FPS (settings medium and some low) and on some other maps I get bad FPS, and that leades me to believe that is game optimization. Don't think that a 4690k can't handle this game. Also, same as you, when playing Domination or TDM on 32 players servers, I can set it to ultra, no AA and get a stable 120 FPS all the round.

Tried everything the say on this thread and no luck. I, like you, also run Dual Monitors, tried using just one, same results. Soooooooo, as much as I hate it, BF beat me and I gave up. Please if you find a solution, let me know!

thanks! I still have a few cards up my sleeve, I guess my next move is to go forward with project Frankenstein. DO will be out of commission for a while unfortunately...
these next few tests will be extremely time consuming, I also have a feeling it may have something to due with GPU-Z not picking up on any of the card's firmware, so I may try reloading that (and make it unlocked while at it) but thanks for helping! I'll definitely post it if I find the issue
