  1. So is that a problem ? It's true I set all fans in the case to follow a specific curve in the BIOS that's based on the CPU temperature. So you mean my curves actually make the CPU heat up more when there are usage blips ? I think I dont get it x)
  2. Hello, ever since I put that rig together back in February, I've noticed my 9900K has some weird behavior when sitting "idle". By idle I mean being on desktop, with like Firefox/Steam/VLC running with a few tabs like the friendlist on steam, a Youtube video paused in a few tabs, maybe some music playing in VLC stuff like that, very very light load. Yet for apparently no reason whatsoever, the CPU from time to time, will go from ~40°C idle temp up to 55-60°c for a very short duration, like 2 seconds maybe. I dont understand WHY that is, and if it is to be expected from that chip. I provide a screenshot of the MSI Afterburner monitoring graphs next to CPUZ thingy so you can appreciate what I'm talking about. The reason I'm asking is because in my previous rig, running a 4770K also OCed and cooled with Noctua UH14S or something (single 140mm fan), my Temp graph was a perfect flatline when idle. Please note that while ingame, that behavior tends to disappear, the temp graph is a nice flat line stable at about 65 to maybe 70°C maximum. Some details : CPU is i9 9900K bought in February 2019 CPU cooler : BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 Thermal interface : Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut applied on the whole IHS, not just a small bean I actually layered it all over. PC Case : Corsair Carbide Air 740 with noctua fans (the ones in 140mm that have the highest airflow I don't care about noise) RAM : Corsair Low Profile 4 sticks with small heatsinks (has to fit under the CPU cooler) MoBo : GigaByte Aorus Ultra Z390 Power Supply : Corsair 1200W GOLD fully modular bought in 2012 (they don't make that one anymore I think) It's not an Overclocked CPU per sei, I just made the chip run 5GHz on all cores, and fixed the Vcore while setting my LLC profile to high I think. Not the highest preset but the one before that I can't recall what it's called but the one right under the higest setting anyway. That's about it I think, the ambient temperature here is like 32~35°C because it's summer. I know the temps are overall completely OK, but the BEHAVIOR is worrying me, I'm wondering if there aren't some voltage spikes or something I don't understand what's happening here. And the PSU I'm using is the same I had in my previous rig with the 4770K OCed. So it's a good one and I keep the computer environnment very clean and dust-free. I even use silverstone dust filters everywhere. Thanks for your feedback if you have any suggestions. -> Yes I tried downclocking the CPU, the behavior remains. EDIT : I ran a CineBench R15 stress test at some point since I turned the computer on, that's why there is a registered 100% CPU usage on the graphs and so 80°C max CPU temp was during that stress test, not ingame where it sits at about 65°C.
