  1. In my case, the solution was a couple of steps. 1. Set CPU overclock to stock settings 2. Make sure ram is stable or at stock 3. Set SoC voltage to 1v 4. Set the PCIe lane mode to 8x2 instead of 16x1 in advanced settings in the BIOS 5. Reset graphics driver COMPLETELY: 1. Open "Programs and Features" in control panel 2. Look for all the nvidia apps 3. Uninstall the graphics driver only (for now) 4. Reboot into safe mode 5. Uninstall graphics card from "Device Manager" in "Display Adapter" 6. Go to "Programs and Features" and uninstall everything related to nvidia except the physX driver (you can't delete it in safe mode) 7. Reboot computer into normal windows 8. Reinstall graphics driver This completely solved my stability issues. Thanks!
  2. Okay so I think I can safely come to the conclusion that my motherboard was not made to handle pcie 16x 3.0 for some reason. Running my gpu on 16x causes instability and ONLY when my gpu is running on 16x does it crash. I'm gonna set my pcie lane to 8x2 in the bios.
  3. Which one specifically. There are a couple out there
  4. From what I have researched, 2133 -> 2400 is around a 7-11 fps difference in intense load situations. 2400 -> 2933/3000 is also around 5-8 fps. Ram does matter, but it's not something to stress over. B-die chips are known to work very well with all ryzen cpus, so go ahead.
  5. What model 1050ti are you wanting to get
  6. Update: Just completely deleted and reinstalled my graphics driver. My GPU is still running at 8x PCIe 3.0 which is a little bit of a bummer.
  7. Update: my computer has been doing the freeze things again. There is a pattern where after I leave my PC completely turned off for a little bit, the freeze bursts happen. After the first boot, they don't happen (most of the time). This morning I decided to go to GPU-Z to see if my gpu was faulty. Everything was in working order. All the info was correct: 16x 3.0 pcie, TU106, etc. However, that was the first boot I did after a while. My computer inevitably locked up and I could't do anything. Instead of reaching for the reset button, I decided to keep it on while the system was frozen. The system was interacting with my ssd. Audio was broken but was changing every few seconds. After about 4 minutes of my computer freaking out, the screen went black and it restarted after a little. When I started up my PC again, I opened GPU-Z to see if anything changed; and stuff changed quite significantly. My gpu was now running on 8x PCIe 3.0. I did a little digging in event viewer and found that my computer had actually had a BSOD, but couldn't display it because my graphics card crashed, but none the less, did have a BSOD. When I went to my event viewer, I had a BugCheck event and it said that it stored a memory dump in C:/Windows/MEMORY.DMP which was nice to have. I got WinDBG and opened the file. I ran !analyze -v and found a bunch of super useful info. The BSOD error was: KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION With the arguments: Arg1: 0000000000000011, Type of corruption detected Arg2: ffff888b06010100, Address of the heap that reported the corruption Arg3: ffff888b0c54cb10, Address at which the corruption was detected Arg4: 0000000000000000 There is a link to the whole dump here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/n8e5zhf1vaum2w4/MEMORY.DMP/file It seems that it is possible that poor PCIe lane management on my motherboard might be the problem, causing the driver to crash. It could also be that the graphics driver could be faulty or corrupted. I will run DDU and try to reset my graphics driver. Peace.
  8. I also noticed something. Almost every error where the graphics driver stops responding, it gets recovered. Only the ones where it doesn't have this event is when my computer goes ape: Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered Every other time where this does not appear after the error quoted, the freeze bursts happen.
  9. Okay so my computer today decided to do the freeze burst thing and I went to the logs after I restarted my PC and I found some nice juicy info: The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: \Device\Video3 0cec(3188) 00000000 00000000 The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table How do I fix this?
  10. Okay so i've been running this for a few days and just today I had a couple freezes then my computer refused to respond so I had to hard reset it. This would happen a few times before but I restarted my computer 3 times and it happened within 5 minutes of startup. I don't say this problem is solved but there hasn't been any random shutdowns or freeze bursts; only this happened just today. The days before were completely fine. No issues. Just this today.
  11. Enabling PBO would cause my computer to refuse to boot and i had to reset cmos. After i reset cmos and went into my bios and changed my ram overclock settings, i went to the cpu settings and noticed that i could change what speed the pcie slots were on. I set both to gen3 and after that i didnt get any crashes. I am also running my cpu on auto settings (stock) and i havent had a crash or freeze burst since I changed those settings. I'll run it with these settings for a few days and if I don't get any freeze bursts or crashes, ill mark this as the solution.
  12. The ram is compatible. It's Trident Z RGB and it uses samsung b-die chips. I just tried doing PBO and my computer refused to boot so I had to reset bios. The reason xmp doesn't work is because my CPU cannot support the XMP speeds. My cpu can support up to 2933
  13. xmp doesn't work and clearing the cmos doesn't change anything. I've already reinstalled the video drivers from nvidia and it changed nothing. my ram isn't faulty i did a full stress test on it. i'll try enabling pbo and see how that goes.
  14. Okay next day and my computer restarted while playing rainbow six seige. The problem hasn't been solved. It restarted only after a few minutes of playing. Any other suggestions?
