  1. I had the same question as you. I bought one and it was like 10 bucks and it did the job but doesn't compare to a $30sih PCI one. Get a PCI one, and if you don't have clearance add a $7 Riser cable. In my case, at home, I got 500mbits up and down, so a USB one couldn't get anywhere near that, but if you have lower connection speeds maybe a USB one is enough. I think it could get me like 150mbits or something like that. I can't remember, sorry. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085TDFQX1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TBL53NB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZV2CJL2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  2. By different source you mean another PC? I've switched back and forth from the rear port and front port and they play softer in the back, louder in the front. Is not that much louder, but it's noticeable. It must be some software trick I'm missing that is not configured well. THe only other thing I have is a laptop that outputs the same as my old mobo (which I still have working).
  3. Hardware: Mobo: https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b650-a-gaming-wifi-model/ with ALC4080 with Savitech SV3H712 amplifier, along with DTS® Sound Unbound and Sonic Studio III Headphones: Audio-Technica ATH-M50X When I first booted my new PC my headphones were listening significantly louder than in my previous mobo. I was happy. It was clear my previous mobo couldn't run them well. But then the ASUS bloatware (I was just testing stuff to see if there was anything useful in the Armory Crate s**t) installed Audio Drivers that completely screw my better sound. They went back to listen as they did in the previous mobo. I uninstalled all the drivers, and devices and rebooted. It went back next time to the default Microsoft signed drivers, but my headphones still sounded "bad". But I plugged them in my front jack and they are as they should be. So this has to be some sort of config that I'm not finding. Any suggestions?
  4. So I'm a complete noob regarding networking things. I bought a big drive today to start storing movies and series; all I want is to watch them on my TV. I installed Jellyfin, pointed it to my movie folder, created a user for my wife, and installed the Jellyfin app on my Android TV, it recognized the server and worked. My question is, does any of this mean that it can be accessed from outside? How can I know that all is safe? What options do I have to be aware of? I'm not planning now to leave the server on, just fire it up on my PC, go to my TV, and watch stuff from there without having to cast. Also, I rent a portion of a home, so I don't have access to the router, and I don't want the host the be able to see my server on their tv (although I highly doubt they have the Jellyfin app).
  5. My display: 144hz 1440p. My games: Nothing FPS, easy-to-run indie games, or big AAA Open World RPG like Witcher III, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring. Since I wanted an upgrade in the GPU department and the 4070 means I can keep using my PSU, mobo, and CPU, I decided to upgrade now. My question is, what will be better, to upgrade in the near future to a 5800X3D so I don't leave performance on the table, to wait for a little longer (probably a year or so) to go AM5 with DDR6, or keep using the 5600X until I go AM5?
  6. If I had the name, I could have searched for it haha. I listened to the latest Wan Show but I was driving and now I can't recall the name. He mentioned that the CEO or somebody used that tool to give results regarding how many channels had the Tesla scam video. I know that Google will present me with several similar search sites but I want to try the one he mentioned.
  7. At some point, maybe after an update, I lost my MSI voltage curve profiles. I looked into C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI Afterburner\Profiles but the *.cfg files there named Profile1, 2 etc... are only 32 bytes in size, and opening them with notepad proves that there is nothing there. So where does MSi stores the values so I can make a backup and just overwrite when it gets' deleted?
  8. Thanks for the response. I'm in the US. I could wait for another month to get to $100. I'm not much at home this day anyway.
  9. So, I don't know anything about power, and by understanding of power measure units is very basic. The apartment I'm renting has terrible voltage problems (the lights blink and dim when we use a hair dryer for example). I got recently a PC gaming tower with a 5600x and a 3060ti, power supply is 650W (MSI A650GF). I need something to protect me of the voltage oscillation, but also that can give me some minutes to save my work in case I'm doing that instead of gaming. My budget is less than 100usd right now, and if you recommend something that can protect me but don't give me power, is also fine, I really don't have the money right now for something that costs more than 50USD, but I can't put in danger my hard earned PC.
  10. So I was looking in Amazon several HDMI cables but almost none of them specify if they support HDCP 2.2. I have an NVIDIA 3060TI, and my TV has 4xHDMI 2.0b (https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/5f5925e0). I want to play occasionally on it at 4k 60HZ but my main concern is getting HDCP 2.2, because my understanding is that is required for Netflix to output at 4k. If you can provide buying options I will be thankful (US). 10 feet is required. 6 feet is too short. And yes, I can use the TV Netflix app, but some things I like to watch it at 1.75x or other custom speeds, which I can only do with some extensions on Edge.
  11. Hey, did you remove the backplate, I am asking myself the same question. I have seen that it hurts performance a little bit, so I wanted to remove it, or at least place thermopads between it and the PCB.
  12. I see. Your post helped a lot. Yep, getting a PCI card with an antenna seems the best option. Going with a cable is not an option due to several factors. Any recommendation for the Wifi Card? Thanks again.
  13. I am renting a portion of the house, so doing that kind of installation would be too much trouble.
  14. My phone is in channel 157 and my desktop in channel 44. I don't have access to the router since I am renting the connection to another person (renting a separated room in fact). I can't just say to the owner, let me mess around with the router configuration. Can I do this only changing something in my desktop? how? Edit, I think I found out how, and Windows reported that in fact my desktop switched to 157, but I was getting less than 200 while before it was 200+ in channel 44.
  15. Is in 5 already, I tested it, Before at 2.4 it only got to 12o mbps. Still is not as fast as my phone.
  16. I hope Steam, and P2P. Hopefully maybe some files have a lot of seeders. Only content I can't legally pay for or is insanely expensive and difficult to watch legally. Like some animes from Japan.
  17. I can't use a wire sorry. I am renting a "portion" of the house and the owner will not drill a hole in the wall so I can get a little more bandwidth.
  18. So, I used to have max speed where I used to live that never were above 100 Mbps (10 MB of download speed). Now I have 300 Mbps with ATT fiber and my current adapter can only reach 220 Mbps, [yep they lied in the description it seems]. My USB ports at the back say 3.2 and I have a Gigabyte B550M-Aorus-Elite motherboard with a Ryzen 5600X. I have a 3060Ti in the PCI Express x16 slot. My question is, any recommendations about the specs or a specific product that I can buy so I can take advantage of the full speed of the connection? Another useful piece of data: I downloaded the official drivers of the adapter, otherwise it would only reach 120mbps. I know the speed I can get because my phone can indeed reach 300+ Mbps. Motherboard info 1 x PCI Express x16 slot (PCIEX16), integrated in the CPU: 1 x PCI Express x16 slot (PCIEX4), integrated in the Chipset: Supporting PCIe 3.0 x4 mode 1 x PCI Express x1 slot (PCIEX1), integrated in the Chipset: Supporting PCIe 3.0 x1 mode
  19. My friend gave me as a present the Redragon S101 Combo Pack since I moved without peripherals but I hate it. Man, does it feels cheap after getting used to a mechanical keyboard. Now, does anyone knows where I can download the software for it Linus showed in the video? I can find it in the manufacturer page, nor in Google.
  20. I considered Mint but the upfront cost was to high. Also try and download maps if you use Google, I suppose it could save you data. Is incredibly expensive data here. My experience in Mexico and Spain taught me data was really cheap, and here is crazy expensive. What the hell
  21. I am now living in the US so I decided for now to try and use Ting for a while and this was my experience: The site did not take any of the 2 US credit cards a couple of friends lend me so my experience stopped there. One was Visa by Bank of America and the other was by Discovery. The support was good but they said they would probably will have to enter manually the card for it to work, so that's a no for me. They didn't take my credit card for another country either. But Google Fi did. So... Two cards failing in a row....
  22. Hello. I live in Mexico and I found here a GPU with reasonable price so I bought one for me and one extra. I want to give it at the same price to a friend that lives in the States. But I don't know about import taxes there, if I send the card via DHL will he then have to pay taxes for it? We want to know if between shipping and taxes it will not be worth it at all.
