  1. This is one example I've laid out, and I've stated in writing that I'm willing to take over and manage the servers and IT as a whole. I agree with not changing the system radically, but instead going one step / user at a time until we have everything centralized. I appreciate the tips! Thank you!
  2. Hey guys, this might be a problem you've encountered at your workplace, but I need some advice. I work on a small creative team for a large-scale non-profit in South Carolina. We've been serving our area for over 30 years, have launched 3 campuses, and serve over 3,000 people weekly across all 3 locations. Not only do I do creative work (Motion Designer and Editor), but I also facilitate broadcast video for all locations, and am the sole support for our (frankly non-existent) IT department. With that out of the way, here's the problem: We're in Hard Drive Hell. Meaning the way we do data management is that we store everything on external hard drives (cheap ones at that). Here's a brief description of our structure. Each staff member has a work-issued computer, whether it's a laptop or desktop. For the creative team, we have what we call "Working Drives" which are 2TB Samsung T7s, and a backup drive which is a 2TB WD MyPassport. We (try to) back up our files every day to the backup drives but it doesn't always work out. Other staff work off of the internal drives in their computers, with occasional files in Google Drive. Speaking of Google Drive, that's how the creative team delivers files to each campus' broadcast team for service, and the band uses DropBox to sync click track and Ableton Live files. My dept manager (Creative) says that she wants to get more hard drives and label them with what year/projects are on them, but not attach them to the network. That's frustrating to me because we'll keep running into the same problems (no one backing up, file structures not being the same, etc). And if they get damaged, yes there is 1 other backup, but life happens. The structure I'm trying to pitch is a working SSD server that backs up to an HDD server, which then automatically backs up to a cloud backup service like AWS or BackBlaze. So as follows: SSD Server > HDD Server > Cloud. If we had some IT infrastructure, I feel like a lot of our problems would be alleviated. Another issue is that we don't have an MDM solution, but that is one we are actively pursuing. The main problem is that we've had drives disappear, no one knows who does what in Google Drive, and no one person has the same copy of a project as someone else. I've been trying to tell them to get a Server/NAS for some time now, but every time I make a case I get shot down because of cost, even though I know money isn't an issue. How do I convince my organization's leadership that even though it's a massive expense now, it will save headaches for everyone for the next several years?
  3. What are some favorite plugins you guys have for both Adobe Premiere and After Effects? Paid or free, it doesn't matter. I'm trying to find some new tools to expand my arsenal and figured this is a good place to ask. Also, if anyone knows what plugin LMG uses to make the animated background for their graphs, I'd appreciate it. Pic below for reference. Thanks! Video I pulled this screenshot from:
  4. All of mine, including the bad one, just said PSU. No mention of Type4 or Type3. Also how is it legal for Amazon to sell that as a new product from the Corsair store?
  5. I bought it new from Amazon in 2019. I only named the HX/AX series because that was the only other modular series I was aware of from Corsair. Thanks for the info!
  6. I stopped trying to power the drive after the second cable. I'll contact Corsair and see if they can do anything.
  7. Ok, so I had something really stupid happen to me over the weekend, and I need help. I was overdue for a PC rebuild and cleanout, so I tackled that this weekend. I added some SP120 fans that have an RGB hub and needed a SATA power lead so I grab one from my PSU box and install it. Here's where it gets dumb. I plugged the existing SATA power lead to my RGB hub since it was a better fit, and the cable from my box to my SSD because of the same reason, length was better for my specific case. I finish and at first the system won't power on fully. I get a flash of everything for exactly 1 second, then the whole system goes dark. Turns out the new PSU cable I used was a different pinout (Corsair Pinout 1 vs Corsair Pinout 3). Also, this is the only PC I've built for myself, so I've only ever had one PSU and set of cables for it. I don't see how this happened other than Corsair sent be the wrong cable with my PSU. My PSU is a RMx 750 (2018) and the bad cable was for an HX.AX series PSU. The drive won't show in Windows, and I'm afraid it's shot. I tried a different cable (I checked the pins this time) and still nothing. The drive is a Samsung 850 EVO 1TB, and has a lot of my business files, brand assets, and other important data on it and I don't have a backup because I don't have my NAS finished yet. Any help? TLDR; Bad PSU cable killed my SSD which has a ton of important files and my NAS isn't finished so a backup didn't exist yet.
  8. Hey Guys! I'm new to the forum but have watched Linus' content for years. Does anyone know if there's a market for dead motherboards? I want to try to recreate the wall from the office makeover video for my studio. Thought it would be a cool background element for streaming and filming.
