  1. PopOS is good as you can immediately download the ISO file specifically for Nvidia cards but, honestly, it's not hard on any other distro like Ubuntu or Linux Mint (both allow to install the proprietary Nvidia drivers from the GUI). So, it's totally a matter of personal preference and your past experience.
  2. Those are just the guidelines, not legal requirements. Plus, in a follow-up, Steve explained why exactly he didn't call Linus. Namely, he was concerned that Linus would start covering things up
  3. Also, it's not like LTT has never been good at testing. They have been pretty reliable for years - until the last 1-2 years when they just started to release 20 videos a week and disregarded the quality completely.
  4. I always doubt it when the major shareholder appoints someone else as a CEO. Like, come on, property = real power, regardless of who is formally a CEO, who is in the board etc.
  5. Well, it's hard to do if Linus owns 50% of the company and his wife owns another 50%...
  6. Given that LTT has over 15 million subs and between 1 and 2 million views on every single video - yes, there is a very high chance that some of these people (maybe hundreds, in fact) did base their purchasing choices on LTT videos which had horrible mistakes. And yes, Linus is not their financial or technical or whatever other advisor so he's not legally liable for their purchasing decisions. However, like with printed media, if you consistently give the audience the wrong advice, you eventually lose your reputation.
  7. It doesn't matter! Even if Steve was a complete dick who was just jealous of Linus (he is not, but just for the sake of an argument) - how does it make Linus look any better? Steve is factually completely correct.
  8. Acknowledging the problem is only the first step. If you acknowledge the problem but then don't do anything to resolve it for months and months, it means you simply don't care.
  9. Linus gets all the profit at the end of the day. Let him take all the effing responsibility.
  10. No, they definitely shouldn't choose a scapegoat among their ordinary employees. Ultimately, it's the management fault.
  11. Yeah, I've heard that too and it was pretty ridiculous. Much smaller channels somehow manage to produce regular videos without being so wrong so often.
  12. That is just nonsense. They were much more reliable before when they had a 20-30 people team; there is no reason they cannot do it again even without an expensive lab. All they need to do is to give more time to the team to do their job properly.
  13. Then there are two solutions, either they should hire more people or they should cut down on the number of videos (OK, it can still be one video per day but not one video per day on five channels!). Yes, both decisions would affect the profit margin in a short term. But in a long term they'll suffer much more if they don't take any of these decisions because of the lost credibility. (Or they'll have to completely turn into a digital tabloid who compensates the lack of quality with sheer volumes of sensationalist and misleading content).
  14. You can probably reasonably claim that Steve got really salty about the way Linus treated him and that's why he issued this video without contacting Linus prior to publication. Does that make any of the Steve's point less valid? Absolutely not. Judging from the reaction of the community, he correctly identified all the pain points.
  15. Selling the block thing is bad but not the worst as the block has an exact monetary value and, if this value is compensated, it's fair enough. On the other hand, a sloppy, goofy review from a reputable outlet like LTT can literally destroy the startup and leave all its employees unemployed - which is a much bigger problem.
