  1. 10/10 would bring back from the dead again though. Did you at least get any sick gains in cooling effectiveness? 'Cause if so... Worth.
  2. My name is Cody Codyman was a nickname my dad called me by. He also called me pudge, but that sounds kinda dumb. 125 was the street address of the house I grew up in
  3. I just got the 4790K the other day, I was considering doing it before I ever dropped it in, and decided I'd see how it went first. 65 degrees pleased me, thus, no delidding. Did you seriously bring the 3770K back from the dead?! if so, how?!
  4. Make sure to wash both thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol! I brought a GTX 760 back from the same fate as your keyboard using it!
  5. CX PSUs aren't horrible, they're at least decently solid. Definitely look for better, but there are MANY options that are FAR WORSE than a CX at that budget.
  6. I feel ya there. I've built in some shitty cases (Bitfenix Shinobi jammed with a full custom water loop and E-ATX Motherboard anyone?) And the experience of building is totally ruined by it. Take the plunge on an upgrade, you won't be disappointed.
  7. 8/10 ~Silicon Power SSDs never seem to run as fast as some of the other slightly higher priced ones, might be worth the money there. ~Monitors seem a bit small, but that is more a personal preference ~Why not Windows 10? ~Sounds like a solid gaming rig though! My specs: CPU -- i7-4790K @ 4.7Ghz GPU -- EVGA GTX 980Ti Reference @ 1520Mhz core PSU -- Corsair TX 750M Motherboard -- MSI PC Mate Z97 OS -- Windows 10 Hard Drive -- Tosiba whatever 2TB 7200RPM SSD -- Samsung 850 Evo 250Gb RAM -- 24Gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 1800Mhz CL10 Case -- Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Keyboard -- Tte Poseidon Z Mouse -- Razer Death Adder Chroma Monitor -- ASUS PB 258Q (1440p) and ASUS something (1080p) 24" Cooling, full custom loop
  8. Well, this PC has had many changes since it was built. The motherboard actually came in a bundle I got with a G3258 from microcenter and was intended for use in my dad's computer. however, at the last second, he decided he wanted to try PC gaming and got my old 4570 and motherboard. I grabbed a 4690K at that point. recently, I decided I wanted a 4790K ($250 from microcenter) and got that. The GPU I actually didn't buy, it was a gift from a few friends for whom I've built computers (Damn good friends, I know). The PSU I got for free from someone who upgraded and sleeved myself using paracord. The fittings, one radiator, and the reservoir pump combo were bought for cheap off hardwareswap, the tube wasn't bad at all to buy, and the CPU block and other radiator where from an old "Custom loop in a box" setup a friend had on an old PC he wasn't using any more. The GPU Block just looked Sexy as fuck, so I had to get it. So, in the end, my PC, despite being an absolute beast, has actually cost me little more than $1000 to build, loop included. Honestly, short of the number of USB ports, of which I always need more, I see no benefits to going to a higher end board. I might one day, but for now, the PC does what I need it to!
  9. Yeah, pretty sure that's normal... if you don't want that to happen, just run in windowed mode.
  10. is that how you dropped your 3770k? I considered delidding my 4790k but decided 65 degrees tops was good enough
  11. C states allow your CPU to downclock when it doesn't need the extra speed. turn that off, and it'll run at 4.6Ghz 100% of the time.
  12. Do you have C states on or off in the BIOS?
  13. It was the worst... I didn't even know what was wrong, so it happened twice in a row (after WRENCHING the pump on and it still leaking)
  14. while building my first ever water loop, I lost the O ring in my D5 pump. Worse however, is that I didn't notice until I fired up the loop, filled with water. EVERYWHERE. THE WATER. WENT. EVERYWHERE. Nothing will make a techie move faster than watching water fly into your GTX780.
  15. I had an i5 4690K and Z97 PC MATE, there should be no compatibility issues between the two...
  16. what cooler are you running? What temperatures are you hitting in these tests?
  17. well, a quick google search of the motherboard's model number brings up this site. http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/cih61m-v1-0-motherboard-specs/ It says it supports 2nd gen core i5, but nothing about 3rd gen... Upon looking on Lenovo's Website, they have no new drivers for the Bios either, assuming you have the Lenovo K330B Ideacenter... Looking deeper, I found this, where someone struggled to get a 3770K to work... http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/385390-31-unknown-issue-lenovo-ideacentre Also, this person, same computer, i5 3470 did not work... https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgamingtechsupport/comments/3wq20r/upgraded_processor_now_i_have_no_display/ I can safely say, do not do this upgrade.
  18. looks like a yes, BUT, I would make sure that the bios is using the newest revision possible, as an older revision may not have support
  19. Hey Guys! This is neither my first water cooled build, nor first hardline build, but it is definitely the one I am most proud of. I just finished it up today, so say hello to my personal rig, Deep Thought! (Version 4) Specs are as follows Base Rig: i7 4790K @ 4.7Ghz MSI Z-97 PC Mate 24Gb HyperX Fury @ 1800Mhz CL10 EVGA 980Ti @1520 Mhz Core and 3900 Mhz Memory Toshiba whatever 2Tb HDD Samsung 850 Evo 250Gb Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Fittings and parts: 14mm PETG and Acrylic 14mm fittings from Barrow Swiftech Apogee Rev 2 CPU Block Bitspower 30 Degree Bitspower 980Ti waterblock Alphacool 90 Degree XSPC 360mm Radiator Swiftech 240mm Radiator XSPC water temperature sensor XSPC 4-way fitting drain valve I bought off some dude on reddit Reservoir and pump bought from same random dude on reddit (Thanks /u/Retrosmith!) Bitspower Male to Male rotary adapter 3 bottles Swiftech HydrX UV Coolant and a partridge in a pear tree Sadly, My LED strip died on me, new ones coming soon!
  20. Definitely install the chipset driver, that could cause a myriad of problems... Hope you get the issue figured out, Happy new year!
  21. All in all, you're computer sounds like a good one. The biggest things I would suggest trying are A. making sure you have all the correct drivers installed, but I'm sure you've done that... and B. Try pulling a stick of ram out, using them in different slots, or just down-clocking it a bit. It might be a long shot, but I've had all sorts of strange problems with a slow stick of ram before.
  22. I almost feel bad for entering because I don't want Linus to lose his rig. The case alone must be hard to part with. User: Codyman125 https://www.vessel.com/videos/Su_Wqd7Vl https://www.vessel.com/videos/JYZEYDYx0 Twitter: https://twitter.com/codyman125/status/581119497307693056
  23. The 850M is a really nice balance between battery and performance. I like that. BUT, With dedicated graphics? The battery life they got is pretty good I'd say!
