Apple makes beautiful machines with a streamlined OS and amazing proprietary software, but their terrible design decisions and refusal to allow people to fix their own machines are making it hard to buy anything newer than the 2013/2014 models. Even then, I still buy their products because that proprietary software is just too good

Linux, while a great OS, is not the answer to all of our problems

Not every keyboard needs to be mechanical. 
 
CompTIA can suck a bag of uncircumcised dicks for their test design. It's needlessly frustrating and features open-ended questions and improper simulations designed to make you fail versus testing you on actual knowledge or ability.

I actually appreciate having the option for a 720p monitor. All I do on a laptop at this point is watch 480p anime streams,browse forums, and check email so the lower resolution is just a price saving point for me. Also I despise touch screens about as much as I hate Windows 8 (which is ironic because I hated Windows 8 since I didn't have a touchscreen laptop at the time).
 
I realize Alex needs a higher end Laptop due to CAD work, but I rock a 1 core, 1GB RAM, 5400 RPM HDD iBook G4 as my daily driver so I guess I'm just a dinosaur.

McAfee on iOS is essentially snake oil. All of those anitvirus apps on iOS are. The app can't actually do anything.

Unless you signed a contract with them stating that you would provide after sales support and provide warranty, it's not your problem. Their PC, their problem.

The clickbait is just part and parcel of being as successful a YouTuber as possible and I can't hold that against you since it's sort of how you employ people and feed your family. Logic Pro and Final Cut
 
I've been composing and editing on Apple products since the iBook G4 and at this point trying to relearn my entire workflow in another ecosystem would just be too much of a hassle.

Honestly I'm just hyped for the keyboard being reverted. I've been holding out getting a new MBP because of that (well that and the T2 chip)
 
I remember when you could buy a 17 inch MacBook back in ye day, but apparently Apple doesn't think people who do editing on the go want a larger screen. Hopefully the popularity of larger screen sizes on other laptops gets us back to larger MacBook options which should theoretically lead to slightly better thermals due to increased thermal mass and space for fans/pipes.

Generally speaking, all server RAM is ECC. If you were to have non-ECC RAM though, it would work just fine.
 
 

the i5 does not support ECC RAM, so even if your mobo did, it probably wouldn't work.

Does your CPU and Mobo support ECC RAM? If yes, happily continue, if no, then sorry.

why should apple be embarassed? the pixel 4 looks worse than an iPhone 11, doesn't have nearly as many storage options and costs more.

I'm not famous or anything, but I did make a whole $1.83 from Spotify last year.

First of all, Linux is the BEST OS ever thanks to being open source and completely open to customization. If you're a giganerd and want to change something, you are absolutely free to do so and make it your own as many other nerds have done to create their own distros.
 
EVERYTHING IS FREE. There are certain paid services, but if I want to run a program on Linux, I can find a comparable piece of open source software that works just as well if not better than a paid version for Windows or Mac.
 
THE UTILITIES. I use drive cloning on Puppy more than almost any other utility and it is far more convenient than trying to do a Windows or Mac variation of this. As an actual IT person in an office, Linux is my default OS on my laptop so when I don't need Active Directory for something, I can just use Linux.
 
I can run Linux on basically anything and revive old hardware with it. No longer do I need to toss out old tech when I can just run Linux on it and keep using my machines while not contributing to e-waste. 
 
Gaming on Linux has come a long way in the past few years. While not all of my favorite titles are compatible yet, developers are making Linux versions of games and developers are patching things so I can play all my games without needing Windows spying on me.
 
The community surrounding it. Windows is just what the masses use, Mac still carries a yuppie air of superiority about it, but Linux? You see another distro user and you're both instantly friends as you bond over your love of the kernel.
 
 
It reminds me of Anthony and anything involving Anthony is a good thing.

PORTS.
 
Having the single port on the MacBook Air is fine and dandy, but if I buy a PRO model MacBook that thing better come equipped with an RJ-45, USB 3.2, SDXC, Thunderbolt 3, and USB C ports.
 
Better Thermal solutions
 
Its no secret that Macs thermal throttle like its going out of style and instead resort to some impressive software trickery to keep their performance in Final Cut or Logic faster. If Apple decided to make a slightly bulkier unit that could better handle the thermals of the processors they used and applied better thermal paste, Macs would be a much better product.
 
Which is weird because iPhones have crazy good thermals so Apple obviously understands how to cool a product down.
 
Better keyboards
 
Just, better keyboards. I love my 2012 MacBook Pro's keyboard, but the newer models and even the stand alone keyboard are just disappointing to use.
 
Modularity
 
I don't want to be swapping CPUs out, but maybe don't solder the SoDIMMs and M.2 to the logic board with no option for replacement parts thanks to that T2 chip.
 
iMac as a standalone monitor
 
iMac's have beautiful displays, but once their internal tech becomes obsolete, you can't just use the beautiful display as a standalone monitor. Which is honestly a shame because they are such nice units.
 
There's probably other stuff, but my lunch break is ending.
