Plus add the screwdriver and the rest of the existing lines and intense growth of new products, and it’s easy to see how the business could become majority merchandise. @LinusTech Noctua fans need to be in the core tech lines. It was phenomenal for app launching I thought - it could display all my games, all of the Office Suite, all of Creative Cloud, all of my development tools. Everything was in easy reach. It was the thing I loved most about Windows 8 and I used it on Windows 10. In fact, its removal in Windows 11 (that and forced grouped task buttons) is what’s making me consider switching. I am running Xubuntu at work with no issues and loving it, but since at home I’d need Adobe CC I’d likely have to switch to Mac, and no Mac can currently match my PC spec for spec (though the M1 Max might make this moot). Since Windows 11 is basically crappy MacOS at this point there’s not much point staying on Windows,

It will be fairly competitive I think. I have a Bellroy backpack which is a fair bit cheaper and high quality with some tech consideration, but nowhere near as smartly laid out and compartmentalised nor designed solely for tech carry. My biggest problems have always been laptop/tablet sleeves in a fully loaded backpack bending a tablet (especially new iPads) when I arch my back or otherwise move funny. So I’ve switched to a tote for travel with my tablet and will probably be getting an LTT backpack once the full layout is shown.

While I’ve long since ditched the garbage keyboard, you couldn’t use a 3rd party tool with it because the G keys are detected as F keys (e.g if you press G1, it registers as F1). So you have to use the Logitech software to map them to other keys and then still have the 3rd party automation software to run the macro. and the mappings only apply while the Logitech software is running, so if you switch computers (e.g laptop to desktop or to someone else’s computer to help them out), the whole thing stops working.

Recently did the switch to a Xubuntu at work and while I’ve now been using Linux on and off for over a decade, it still has enough quirks to make me want to kill myself over very simple things sometimes. But for general purpose use I think Xubuntu is a great option, is familiar to anybody who’s used older Windows and it feels a lot quicker than anything running KDE and is a lot less buggy too. For gaming, not sure I’d even bother trying haha.

Actually, yes they do. The law is that the product is covered during its “reasonable lifetime”. For example if a fridge has a warranty of 2 years, but breaks after 10 years, then it is still covered under Australian Consumer law because the reasonable expected lifetime of a fridge is 20 years plus. Manufacturers or retailers are required to replace and will usually do so the instant you mention the ACL. A GPU or gaming console that fails after 2 or 3 years is definitely covered.

I’ve not programmed in a long time, so I’ve been delving into a few new areas and brushing up on old ones. I really want to master F#. Starting writing a GUI framework for it the other day and it’s looking super promising, though still need some real world app ideas to really delve into the pure functional stuff. Since Crash 4 isn’t coming to PC I’m probably going to develop my own corridor-style platformer. I might even do it in F#. Upgrade monitor setup to Eizo EV2730Q and some for of super ultra wide.

Lot of ambidextrous mice will have buttons on both sides. I used a SteelSeries Sensei for a while and it’s great for left handed use.

I have the Sliger SM570 which is the same basic case, but without the triple slot support and with 120mm fans instead of 140mm. Is insane what you can get in there, I have: 3950X 64GB RAM 2x 2TB SSDs (1Nvme, 1 sata, cloned every 3 days, with an external ssd dock for expandable storage). 750W PSU Thunderbolt expansion No permanent graphics card yet, but as soon as the 3090 becomes widely available, I’m gonna cram that Gigabyte Turbo design in there (if anyone knows a gigabyte rep that will let me borrow one) I’ve got a golden CPU too, and I’d almost be comfortable air cooling it and swapping to a smaller case without the radiator.

I think you need to understand that Hz = FPS. If you want to run at 120Hz, you need to run the game at 120fps. You can't run it at 60fps on a 120Hz monitor without frames repeating. 4K 120 hertz with ray tracing on is unlikely to happen until the 4000 series, or maybe a few specific examples in the 3000 series.

Samsung. Premature failure rate of products has been insane - smartphones, dumbphones, TVs, optical drives, hard drives, microwaves, air conditioners etc... So far I have had luck with their SSDs, but they’re still all well within warranty period. Asus. Their enterprise support was so bad, and ruined an enormous project, that a hurricane hitting and wiping out my business was a Godsend because it meant I had an excuse (and an insurance payout) Google. Obviously I have an account but I’m pretty reticent on using it, except for YouTube. Facebook for similar reasons.
