That moment you realize that Google paid Austin Evans to review Stadia...

If he said it was paid for I fail to see the issue.

Happens with a lot of large channels.

  2. Vishera

That makes it a biased review, they are the manufacturer of the product after all.

Yes, but there's quite the difference between disclosing that your review is paid and passing off a paid review as it not being paid.

  4. Vishera

    Vishera

    That's true.

    It's just disappointing.

And...you think Linus doesn't do paid placements? What do you think everything he recommends in his ads are?

It clearly states right in the write up that the video is sponsored.

If you can't separate that from an unpaid for review, it's kind of on you.

  6. Vishera

    Vishera

There is a difference between a review sponsored by the manufacturer to a review sponsored by someone else.

  7. PlayStation 2

    PlayStation 2

    Except he meant "manufacturer-sponsored review"?

  8. dizmo

    dizmo

    Not necessarily.

Also how do you think YouTubers pay their bills? AdSense doesn't really pay all that much.

@dizmo I don't understand the logic of your comment, but i guess it comes from our differences as people.

We will probably never agree or understand each other on the matter.

The reason I post that, is because to me, that video doesn't come across as a review. It comes across as an ad or 'showcase', as Linus puts it.

    There's no deception.

The issue I have with Austin, is that he put it across as a review.

If you're paid to make that review, than it's not a review, it's an ad. It's biased. Period.

I agree with @wANKER,that exactly explains what i feel about it.

It's rare that I read something this ill-informed.

Not ill informed,Your examples are not reviews.

When LTT does a sponsored build with MC, using MC parts at a MC store, is that also bad?

    That's not a review,just a build.

How about those INTEL SPONSORED builds with new HEDT intel chips that come out every generation?

    Again not reviews,just builds.

Or maybe ROG rig reboot, the massive advertising campaign that basically uses linus and the entire LTT audience as a sock puppet?  All.  The.  Same.

The ROG rig reboot videos are not reviews.

See, Austin's video also isn't a review "I TRIED Google stadia" followed by an unboxing and basic breakdown is the same as using a an intel cpu, shilling the hell out of it and making a dope build while over emphasizing its quality and uses in the build

And yeah, I have a very low tolerance for that kind of response.  You followed up by jumping straight to my examples - showing you clearly didn't lose out on the logic

@Damascus With the language you used i don't want to talk to you,

I am ignoring you from now on.

How is a review, however it's sponsored, different from another sponsored review? The only unbais review would be one from someone that has purchased the product with their own money, and even then, you will never get around the reviewer having at least a little bias.

@Damascus brought up a lot of valid points. Not sure why you'd ignore him, nothing he said was that harsh.
