For me, it's how smartphone companies have completely given up on pop-up selfie cameras, despite them having suffered no catastrophic failures when they were a thing.
They held up well, and the OnePlus 7 Pro remains to this day the best looking smartphone screen you can get in 2022 despite despite being a 3 year old device.

But they went back to notches. All brands did, even Xiaomi (Poco) and Asus (ZenFone). 😞

Huawei keep pumping out phones and they look like real competition to the flagships we can actually buy.

Why can't politics be as simple as: "Biden does not like Trump, therefore he'll undo what Trump did"?
My childish, black and white worldview would solve a lot of world problems. And create countless new ones, but that's besides the point.

it may draw more power than a cheeper screen, but it will draw about the same power as a screen pannel type, res, on a phone with the same hardware, but designed for 60hz

As a non-English native, it's so much better to have a physical keyboard to do all the accents and weird shits your language features, without being reliant on a stupid autocorrect. I just hate typing on glass.

7412 got a reaction from Slayerking92 in Does having multiple user sessions on your computer lower your performance?
Hello. A very stupid question on this tech-savvy temple, I apologize. I do wonder though.
If I create a new user session for, say, my wife of my children - will I notice a performance drop in my own session? In my head it's like a whole new world of things that the computer has to "remember" and work on in the background somehow. Maybe it's not though, I don't know. That's why I'm asking.
Thanks in advance for making me less stupid.

Amazing editing and narration, lots of various footage in a world where most content creators just switch between shots of their faces and shots of the object they're reviewing...All in all, you feel like a lot of love and work was put into making the video.
And yet, he's still so far behind the big boys like Linus and MKBHD. It makes me sad. This guy deserves way more subscribers.

We already have that in most phones. If you pick the few that have curved screens, it's on you. Your pick. There are plenty of options available with flat screens.

Because there haven't been any issue with pop-up cameras yet. No big drama, nobody complaining about them. It's great for privacy, it allows you to have a full screen experience. It's great.

7412 reacted to Kisai in Will we be able to use our smartphones as externals GPU at some point?
Nope, and also there's an entirely different scale going on here. Your desktop GPU can utilize several GB's of space to display better models and textures on higher resolution screens, where as your smartphone's GPU uses shared-memory with the CPU which runs at slower speeds and is less powerful in scale. The games that are designed for smartphones target OpenGL ES2, and thus are also a lot less sophisticated, but also a lot more limited. PUBG mobile and PUBG are basically different games with the mobile version scaled down to run on a potato-phone.

I assure you, your smartphone GPU is substantially weaker than your desktop GPU unless your desktop GPU is more than 5 years old and also an integrated GPU. The GPU in that part doesn't beat the GPU in the iPhone 11, nor does it beat the iPhone X.

The Adreno 650 in that SoC has a Compute score of about 3000, which puts it under the GeForce GT 730 and slightly higher than the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600.
    https://browser.geekbench.com/opencl-benchmarks

By comparison the top-of-the-line GPU you can get right now, GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER has a score closer to 110,000. That is 36 times more powerful. Even if compared to just an entry-level GeForce GTX 1660, that is still a score of 54,000 or 18 times better.

Use UBlock Origin (if you are on chrome/firefox). A side effect of it is that (depending how you set it up) it will also block trackers on websites.

May I use this opportunity to say that writing the dollar sign BEFORE the price number is stupid and makes no sense, much like a lot of American ways of doing things that the entire world does differently? (the imperial system is terrible, it's well past time America evolves and learns the metric system)
When you read the damn thing, you say: "one hundred and twenty dollars", not "dollar sign one hundred and twenty". This is infuriating.

While flashy, ultra-fast RBG going through all the spectrum is somewhat obnoxious to look out, I do enjoy the ability to customize an RGB keyboard to make something soothing. For example, choosing a color for both your wallpaper and Chrome, and then having your RGB keyboard match that color for a clean setup. The two main colors are green and blue? You could have your RBB keyboard slowly go from one color to the next.
I don't know. I do appreciate this additional layer of customization.
I do dislike the "gamer aesthetic" of black & red laptops, or the atrocity that is the ROG Phone II. Such a great phone, ruined by childlike design, urgh...

I really have to agree with jobs here also. i have a Dell something laptop with a touch screen (an XPS business version with at P1000 and 6 core/12thread) i never use it.. NEVER.. it is just not a viable solution, when you sit at a laptop, since the screen is upright.

it has REAL function in a 2in1 where you can lay it flat on a table, and use it there..

I disagree. Phones have been tested for that, multiple hundreds of thousands of times. Devices that include pop-up cameras have been out for more than 2 years now, and we've had no major drama with many people returning their devices because of a broken camera or anything like that. Even Zack from JerryRigEverything states that they're solid and should last.

Pop-up cameras are solid. They're the best solution to the "notch" problem, until they find a way to add under-display cameras...which will be a tough one to pull off, since our fingers are on the screen all the time and will leave fingerprints and smudges where the camera is.

Same. I don't belong in the Snapchat/Instagram gen, I don't really care much about selfies. The pop-up camera allows for a better looking, notchless display, and you can also feel more comfortable using your phone in the toilets since you know you can't be spied one...not from the front anyway.
