  1. Thanks for the feedback. Gonna see if I can cancel that sale
  2. I took pictures of every angle of this case for the ebay listing. Their account is brand new. Directions on their profile say text X number with more pictures cuz they're buying it for their cousin. I guess everything they buy is for their cousin?
  3. Is it intentional that it instantly makes me think "assasins creed"? Hopefully Ubisofts legal team doesn't agree
  4. Never really understood LMG raging at not having a headphone jack. OK your opinion is valid, but is it really worth actually getting that mad about? I'm actually more likely to get triggered when my wired headphones get ripped off my head as they frequently do. My opinion is they are only necessary on audiophile devices and budget devices.
  5. ooh, now I want a version with sound isolation so that I can hang speakers in my apartment without my neighbors being able to hear them.(tho depending on how strong the magnets are I could probably put a piece of rubber on the magnet to achieve that affect
  6. After I saw linus feature those little magnetic power bar attachments I got to thinking. Just how universal are the screw mounting holes on various items? because I'm in an apartment and it would be awesome if I could get my router mounted a bit higher on a wall without making holes in the wall. little ferrous metal discs with command strips and magnetic mounts would be awesome for all kinds of things I think. Thoughts?

  8. Started studying to renew my A+ and now I'm reminded how bad technical textbooks are. It would be the perfect FloatPlane exclusive series to have a PBS crash course style certification training.
  9. Doesn't look like this webmail client has the option to inspect emails with that level of detail and neither does my phone. and I'm starting to think this is just another Apple "feature" because an address does show on my phone.
  10. Didn't see an online security category so I'll drop this here. I didn't think it was possible to send an email without a "from" address. Is this a new email spam trick? Generally speaking I use the email address and domains in links to make a guess as to whether something is safe/legit. links point to list-manage dot com so it's clearly spam, but I don't think I've seen a blank return address before. email with no "from" address: normal email:
  11. Not linus. Well not for the ethernet. One of his videos he showed all the cable he installed. But I don't remember him mentioning sound proofing. The video I shared was pretty much exactly what you said. wool or foam in the wall, something to separate the sheetrock from the studs. (he used thin wood strips I think but did mention the channel option) then he used green glue and another layer of sheetrock.
  12. Also, I cringed that he closed up this wall without running some cat6. Missed opportunity. https://youtu.be/GLjhrXFo0Kw
  13. I agree with what youngblade said. I mean... $900 just on storage? ouch. you won't be actively using that much space unless you're doing something like 4K video editing so it's kindof a waste of money. But if you really have to have 4TB of NVMe I'd probably suggest you buy smaller drives and stripe them. Its actually cheaper that way and might even be faster than a single 4TB drive. I always start with sites like tomshardware to get a comparison before I decide what to buy. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-ssds,3891.html Personally I have a hybrid of a 1TB nvme for the games I *actually* play and 4TB of spinning rust in raid 10 for bulk storage. it's sequential reads are fast enough that when I decide to play something on the RAID I can transter it to the nvme without much wait time. Steam can even be configured to handle the transfer between drives.
  14. My own understanding of UEFI is pretty basic. When I first started messing with Pop!_Os I disabled secureboot, then deleted the encryption keys. But this old HP Notebook would always give an error that /boot/efi/mmx64.efi was missing unless I booted the laptop in legacy-support mode
