  1. Thanks everyone - I'll try BillBills suggested site - I just wanted to make sure where I got the drivers from was safe before I put it on our server
  2. Hi All, We run a server for our cabinet shop design software that has a basic 1080p monitor attached via VGA that I can't change beyond 1hz refresh rate. Going into advanced properties it's using the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" which I think is why it's stuck at 1hz with no other options. I'm not very server savvy so I'm looking for a solution that is pretty low risk - we have nothing on this server installed other than the basics to connect our licences so I wasn't about to start downloading random things to fix it without checking with you all first if there's something obvious I'm missing. Thanks!
  3. Ah hadn't thought of just doing RDP - I'm a Mac user primarily and only use the PC for gaming but we've gotten some new CAD software for our cabinet shop that runs on PC only and needs some horsepower so my temporary solution is to just remote in. I'll try RDP and see how it works - thank you!
  4. Hi All, I'm using Splashtop to remote from my Macbook to my PC at home that's connected to a 1440p 34" ultra wide display. My Macbook station at work I connect it to a 32" 4K display and I was wondering if there's a way to force my PC to display at a higher resolution to match my 4K display I'm remoting in from? I have an RTX 3070 connected via display port 1.4 to the monitor at home - but I can't find if it's possible to force windows to display a "virtual resolution" of sorts so when I remote into do CAD work I can for the PC to display something that's not possible technically? I've searched all over the Google and such and either I'm the first person trying to do this, or I'm asking the wrong question. Thanks!
  5. The IT people at Cabinet Vision explained it to me but it was over my head - whatever it is it's required to link all the licenced computers together and keep their libraries and catalogues congruent. To me it sounded like something that could be done via dropbox or something similar but they said it was actually processing something I guess. I'll find out once we get it and update you all!
  6. Honestly I don't understand it completely - this whole thing is a few steps above what I'm used to. We ended up pulling the trigger on it as we were in a time crunch. That's good to know that it's reasonable price wise, I'm familiar with consumer grade stuff but I just wanted to make sure we were in the ballpark to have someone else build it for us. We'll be reliant on this company anyways to help us with tech requests - like always I'm sure there's easier and cheaper ways to do it as I really don't see this server getting much if any traffic. I may as well run a good BeamMP server off of it or something for fun haha. I've seen Backblaze be recommended and sponsored by LTT - is that a decent route to go if we were to set that up as our offsite backup and this as one of our locals?
  7. These are the recommended specs from the software company for the server - Note we are going to never have more than 10 users on at a time. https://planitcanada.ca/solutions/cabinet-vision/server-recommendations/ These recommendations are for a dedicated network server. Other than a Windows environment, we don’t endorse specific hardware or software. The official CABINET VISION System Requirements can be found at the following link: http://www.cabinetvision.com/systemrequirements These recommendations are for a dedicated network server environment in which the server will not run CABINET VISION and there will be no more than 30 network users. The Network option for the installation of CABINET VISION is NOT supported in a wireless environment. The Network infrastructure should support at least 1Gbps connecting switch ports. 8. Hi All, I run a small cabinet shop and we're getting set up with some new CAD software specific to our industry (Cabinet Vision or Planit for those familiar with the industry). We're needing to purchase and have a server set up, which is way over my head tech wise as I've only built two gaming PC's for myself, and time is fairly short to turn this around so I've looked to outsource it to a local computer store (mom and pop style shop I've used before). Here's the quote and hardware they've given me: MICROSOFT WINDOWS SERVER 2022 5 USER CAL – OEM $6099.99 + Tax TOWER CASE WITH 900W POWER SUPPLY 8X 3.5" TRAY 1x X12DPL-i6 w/ 2x G-LAN ports, 1x IPMI Port 2x Intel Xeon 4309Y 2.8Ghz CPU 8-core 2x Xeon CPU Coolers 2x 16GB DDR4 ECC REG 1x 480GB Enterprise Level SSD for OS 5x 480GB Enterprise Level SSD in RAID-6 1x LSI 9361-8i + BBU kit + cables Support RAID-6 1x DVDRW Drive Software MICROSOFT WINDOWS SERVER 2022 STANDARD OEM 16 CORE $1384.99 MICROSOFT WINDOWS SERVER 2022 5 USER CAL – OEM $364.99 Total: $7,849.97 CAD Is this in line for someone else to build and set up a server for us? I run the company so I really don't have time to monkey around with a DIY solution, and we'll have 5 CAD licensed PC's connecting to this network which keeps all the catalogues synched up properly so if a designer makes a change to a component it can be shared across the company. I had asked if we could set it up on dropbox or something similar but apparently a server is required for this particular case. I'm looking for a week turnaround as well so I don't have a lot of time to shop around. Thanks All!
  9. Ah I thought it actually had to be a "whine" noise...
  10. Doing some testing on my own card with the same issue, adjusting the fan speed for the left and right fans independantly they make no ticking, from zero right to 100%, and running together. When I put on a GPU stress test though it instantly starts buzzing. Thoughts?
  11. I've got the same card and the same issue as well - I've messaged the Amazon seller and waiting on a reply, wondering if anyone else has gotten a resolution on this?
  12. Budget (including currency): $150-300 Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Fusion 360, Twinmotion, Assassins Creed style games, Battlefield FPS types, etc Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hi All, I'm building a new home office (I build cabinets and closet shelving for my day job) and I wanted to do an open case build. I've got a black Motif Monument from Yeul Beast on it's way, but I need some help picking a Mini ITX motherboard and if anyone else has built on this chassis and has previous experience I'd appreciate any tips. Suggestions I'm looking for with the below hardware I have already: Mini ITX motherboard - Wifi and blue tooth would be nice, but not needed - 3 Series NVIDIA GPU: all the PCIE lane jargon I don't really understand, but basically I'd like it to be prepped for one when the time comes I need/can get one. Here's what I have in my current PC that I can reuse. Ryzen 5 3600 Stock Air Cooler (This will be upgraded to a DH-15 or some equivalent that looks good and performs well, I don't need to overclock) 16Gb Ram RTX 2060 (two fan style smaller form factor card) 550W Power Supply Any questions to what I'm looking for or anything I've missed let me know. Thanks all!
