  1. I do have a 14 day period for returning the product starting from the day i bought the monitor so i can still swap it even though i have a dead pixel i think. It's just 1 pixel near the edges of the screen and i almost don't see it and it's somewhat of a hasse to replace it, since i'ts an hour trip to get to the shop and i gotta wait 1-2 days for the new monitor to arrive at the shop so during that period i can't use my PC. Do you think it's still worth it?
  2. So i bought a new monitor - AOC 24V2Q, and when i came back home i found a dead pixel on the screen. I didn't see it at the store when i was testing it. It doesn't bug me much, i only see it if i specifically look for it. Should i still swap it for a new one, and hope that one doesn't have a burned/dead pixel? Is there any danger to having a burned/dead pixel? I've heard rumors that if you have a dead pixel, it can spread and you'll have more dead pixels on screen. Is this true? When do dead pixels spread? How fast do they spread?
  3. What do you think about the measured response times on these sites? Both reviews measured the response time with different testing methods, so you can't really compare both results to one another, but what do you think about the results? Playware measured it at about 8ms, Pc lab pl measured it at 18,4 ms with a rise + fall response time test. The recomended overdrive options can lower it to about 6-7 ms on playware's review. Is this good enough for casual gaming?
  4. Im looking for a new budget monitor - 24", 60-75 Hz, IPS, 5ms response time, Flicker Free, HDMI/Display port, possibly FreeSync. I'll be using it for watching videos, writing, gaming, browsing, programming. My budget is 140 USD, I'm accepting suggestions. I've currently settled on either the AOC 24V2Q or a second hand Samsung S24E650PL - a new one is too expensive for me. From reviews on the AOC (PlayWare's - http://playwares.com/dpreview/56817843 and PCLab's - https://pclab.pl/art80242-2.html) it looks like the response tiem is higher than stated, instead of 5 ms it's about 8+ ms, but it can be reduced through the overdrive option. The samsung one has lower response times than the AOC (https://pclab.pl/art80242-15.html), but lacks features like FreeSync, its 60 Hz instead of 75, and some other stuff but it has a good adjustable stand, better colors and has a bit faster response time. Which one do you recommend? What are your thoughts about buying second hand monitors? Is it a good? Is it bad? What do you think?
  5. @PopsicleHustler So i've been looking around for some monitors and im currently deciding between the AOC 24V2Q and a second hand Samsung S24E650PL. Ive been looking at some online reviews and they measure the resposne time a lot higher than it actually is, depending on thetests ( For the AOC: PlayWare's- http://playwares.com/dpreview/56817843 and PCLab's - https://pclab.pl/art80242-2.html For the Samsung: https://pclab.pl/art80242-15.html) What do you think? Which monitor is better?
  6. @SolarNova Thanks for the response! IPS it is then. Regarding the AOC 24V2Q http://playwares.com/dpreview/56817843# On page 5 they mention its contrast can get higher at higher brightness levels (275 nits), instead of the rated 1000:1 they reached 1400:1. They mentioned the brightness can be changed through some options, weird cuz most other reviews i saw mentioned its dim and it stays at about 230 nits. Found a review of the 27 inch model, so it might not be exactly the same with the 24 inch, but it lists its contrsat at about 900:1 https://www.kitguru.net/peripherals/monitors/edward-chester/aoc-27v2q-75hz-ips-monitor-review/4/ Two conflicting reviews. Is this contrast legit? is it a good thing? How can i prevent eye strain and eye irritation? I found another interesting option: the Acer R241Ybmid. Didn't have time to find a review on it, i did find this about the RT240, i guess they should be close. http://bestmonitorsbyncx.createaforum.com/general-discussion/best-24-25'-1080p-ipspls-monitors/?message=110 What do you think about this monitor? Which is better, this or the AOC 24V2Q for my uses? Not an important question so you don't need to go into detail about it - One VA monito listed two response times as "Tr+Tf":16 ms and 4ms (GtG) - is its average response time 16ms? http://playwares.com/index.php?_filter=search&mid=dpreview&search_target=title_content&search_keyword=benq+gw&document_srl=47604706# this lists it as having lower than 16ms
  7. What are transition speeds? Is it just response time? Did you mean that ghosting wont be noticed if your slowest resposne time is 4ms and its usually faster (lower) than that? I just need to know what to check for that would be relevant to me, like some obvious ghosting, blurs, etc I will try to ask them if i can do this. Thanks for the tips! I saw a video about this, the result is that the correct way to look at a IPS panel is it should be on the level of your eyes and you should look straight at it. I remember that the correct way to look at a TN monitor is to look at it from above. Didn't know about this, i didn't know LCDs had soo many problems. So the question is whether the AOC 24V2Q is known for having IPS glow and BLB issues. From the few tests ive found it doesn't seem like that, but when i googled 24V2Q IPS glow a lot of stuff popped up. What do i make of this? 2 side questions, do you think one of the panels (TN, IPS, VA) suits my needs exatcly, is one of them " perfect" for writing, watching shows, browsering etc? And do videos suffer from ghosting/similar issues? I will look at those links when i have the time, thank you!
  8. So the fastest possible response time on a monitor must be 4ms or faster. But why are we looking at the maximum speed and not something else, like the average? Correct me if i'm wrong but, most of the time our monitors will be in that "average response time range" not the "maximum response time range", right? So shouldn't we be looking at that average response time (6-7ms for the AOC 24V2Q) and see whether ghosting is inperceptible then? The fastest the AOC 24V2Q can go on the highest overdrive is 5 ms, that brings me to the question, will i notice the ghosting? Tomorrow ill go to a shop to see the 24V2Q, what do you suggest i test exactly, to see if i'll notice any of these issues - ghosting, overshoot, any motion blurs, any other possible problems? What should i test to see if i'll notice ghosting and overshoot and whether it will be distracting for me? I don't know if they'll let me test it with a video or a game. I can try asking them. I'm mostly going to watch shows, write, do light gaming, some programming and browsing. What should i be looking for in a monitor for with these goals in mind? My guess would be it's more important to have better colors, contrasts and have the ability to look at the screen for hours on end without my eyes hurting. What's your take on what i should look in for a monitor? I don't think id need a high response time for those things i mentioned above, or do i? The most monitor demanding thing i'll do is gaming i think, unless response times or something else are important for watching videos. For casual gaming i won't see much of a loss on my gaming performance from a 6-7ms response time with 75Hz, right? Does a response time of 6-8 ms impact videos? Will the there be ghosting/overshoot or any other issues like motion blur or slow color changes in videos and movies? I see a lot of people talking about IPS glow and blacklight bleeding, but they don't explain what are they exactly? Why and when does IPS glow and BLB occur (on a IPS monitor)? Will the AOC 24V2Q suffer from them / How can i check for IPS glow and BLB when i go to the shop? Are there any other similar issues like this i should look out for? One guy in a short video review mentioned that after a couple of hours gaming on the AOC24V2Q his eyes started to hurt. Is there a way i can prevent this? Is this because of the monitor and it iwll happen to everyone or does this depends on the person? What are some tips for preserving my eyes? Is there any way i can find out if my eyes will hurt after staring at this monitor before hand? What do you suggest i do when i see the monitor tomorrow? Also just wanted to mention that the Philips 243V7Q is a little cheaper (about 17USD) than the AOC 24V2Q.
  9. Thanks for the response again! Can ghosting happen to IPS monitors at all? When does ghosting occur? What's overdrive?
  10. What's overshoot? Is it connected to ghosting? So it has about 8-9ms refresh rate, even less with the overdrive options. Are 8ms good for casual gaming? Im not a hardcore competative gamer, i mostly paly for fun, mostly indie games/single player but sometimes i will paly with friends stuff like minecraft and overwatch - are 8ms good for these games? A little bit of a side question, Why do i need good response times(5ms and lower)? Is it mostly for gaming? Another panel caught my eye, the Philips 243V7QDAB, its got a little bit of a higher score compared to the AOC 24V2Q (7,9 vs 7,6). Here's the playware review: http://playwares.com/index.php?_filter=search&mid=dpreview&search_target=title_content&search_keyword=Philips+243V7Q&document_srl=54547529# Sadly it isn't suggested here: http://bestmonitorsbyncx.createaforum.com/general-discussion/best-24-25'-1080p-ipspls-monitors/ What do you think about this monitor? Also a massive THANK YOU!!! You looked through both of those reviews just to help me, you're a hero!
  11. Bulgaria. Here are the sites im considering to buy the monitor from: https://plasico.bg/монитори-и-тv/монитори?list=1 https://www.jarcomputers.com/Monitori_cat_145.html?ref=cat&order=1 This is a catolgue site for a lot of shops, you can search for soem specific models here too: https://www.pazaruvaj.com/ Here's the monitor you mentioned: https://www.jarcomputers.com/Monitor-IIYAMA-XB2483HSU-B3_prod_MNLCIIYAMAXB2483HSUB3.html?ref=prod it costs 320lv, by budget is about 240 lv.
  12. That panel is about 1,5 times the price of the aoc 24v2q and it's well over my budget on top of that i'm worried that it's a old model from 2014, but i guess that isn't that much of an issue Thanks for the response though!!
  13. So i think ill be going for an IPS display than. Forgot to mention that i'll be using the monitor for priamrily for writing, watching shows, browsering, light gaming, programming Ive been looking at the prices of monitors here and i think about getting the AOC 24V2Q. It was hard finding reviews, especially in depth ones, there aren't any on rtings nor on tftcentral, i found these 2 in foreign languages (first in polish, 2nd in korean): https://pclab.pl/art80242-2.html http://playwares.com/dpreview/56817843 Just click google's translate option next to the bookmark star and it should be understandable in your language in the first review they measured the response time as 18,4 ms!! Is this real? On page 10 on the 2nd review the reviewr measured an average of 8,41 ms, turning on an "Overdrive" setting will decrease the response time but increase the afterimages. "Overdrive" on weak/medium will decrease the response tiem to 7,33 and lower. Regarding input lag the first page measured it to be 10 ms, the 2nd one said this "In the Playware test environment, the input-lag of the display is 2-4ms. With a very low input delay of less than 10ms and a fast response time of up to 5ms, there is no shortage of images and video viewing as well as 60 frame rate gaming." - but they mentioned the response time was a little mroe than 5 ms... What do you think about this monitor? Should i look for another one? I can provide you the links to the sites im going to buy monitors from if you wanna search for better options.
  14. But i don't have the monitor with me! Guess i gotta ask the shop or gotta look at the back of the box myself. I cant find the production date anywhere online. arrrgh
  15. How can i find out waht year the BenQ GW2470HL monitor was produced? What are manufecturer codes of both of your monitors? Are they 9h.lg6lb.qbe or something simillar (this is the code for the 24 inch one)? I dont think that asus monitor is even sold here lol
