Do the fans always go full speed and whine a lot? If so, either something is wrong with it, you're really good at loading the utter crap out of it, or if you've only just started using it and it's been less than 24 hours, it could be running an absurd amount of updates. Often updates will cause the fans to go full blast, particularly the HP software updates. It will definitely go full blast on CMOS/BIOS updates, and other major firmware updates, but that's outside the normal Windows environment. I hope your first steps with your new laptop were to 'decrapify' it (uninstall all the bundled extraneous software and free trials), then run updates on Windows and all software you keep before installing your own software choices.

95% of models seem to have 20-30' of range, including my $300 Sennheiser 2.4ghz GSP670s.  Some older models seem to reach 100-200'.

Doing a range roundup of some of the top wireless headsets from Jabra, Sennheiser, Plantronics, Astro, Turtle Beach, Airpods, etc, comparing Bluetooth and 2.4ghz models, would be awesome!  
 
I've spent 5+ hours trying to find a wireless headset for Zoom/Teams/Gaming that will allow me to roam the house while on a meeting. There's simply no reviewer or website with actual range testing, and I remain tethered to my desk for meetings!

No, you can't run Mac os on your pc. (I understand that hackintosh is a thing, but given the op's tech level, I don't see this as a valid option)

They think if a device is compromised, there's some single person that did it, and that they are 'out to get them'. This ain't the movies, and you fell for a simple trap. Some sleazy company or group is just wanting to make money off of your ineptitude or naivete, not a villain specifically interested in attacking you personally.
 
I think we need a better term for this kind of thing, and not abide people calling it being 'hacked'.

They think if a device is compromised, there's some single person that did it, and that they are 'out to get them'. This ain't the movies, and you fell for a simple trap. If you have the right graphics card, the capture function is built in. Not sure which models specifically do, off hand, but research will tell you. Even if you don't have such a card already, and can't afford or even find one right now, you can basically intercept the video you're already putting out via software, and capture that way. Yes, that will create more work for your system, but as noted you probably won't hurt it. A fair number of games are still single threaded, or won't use all of your cores, so there'll be resources free to do a 'soft capture' on the same machine. However, a second GPU or even capture card in the same system doesn't really reduce the load on the CPU and system in general. If you want that 'zero impact' capture, you need a whole second system to really do it right.
