  1. That's interesting. I didn't know that. Do all SSDs have an SLC cache? (I know some have a DRAM cache). Kingston doesn't state its NAND type on the website, and I only found other websites that say it's TLC with no mention of a cache, but that would explain the behavior.
  2. Copying a 40 GB folder from my HDD to my boot SSD, I was shocked to see such high SSD utilization and low write speed. I'd think writing at ~100 MB/s (limited by the HDD read speed), would be no sweat for an SSD, but not only was it at 100%, but it wasn't even writing at 100 MB/s most of the time such that the HDD would pause to, presumably, let the SSD catch up. I've had no qualitative issues with it: navigating Windows is a breeze. Additionally, load times are noticeably faster in games running on the SSD compared to the HDD. These numbers just don't add up.
  3. Nope. I haven't noticed a pattern. DisplayPort, but I use HDMI with my PS4, with which I've never had issues. GTX1050 ti I don't remember. Which driver is the correct one?
  4. They're only visible on in grey areas. My monitor is an LG 24MP59G. No Lines Lines
  5. Right, and most of those would be fair comparisons. Why weren't they made? Why was it only compared to the Framework?
  6. The similarities I'm focusing on is the fact that their both thin and light laptops and their minimalist, silver aesthetics. If you're looking to buy a thin and light laptop, is the Surface Laptop Studio and the Framework not both options, especially since the Framework is much cheaper?
  7. I personally don't mind Linus reviewing competing laptops. I trust him enough to be unbiased, but that's not the point. My trust of him (which shouldn't mean much since I don't know him personally) should not guide morality. He also said he just wouldn't do it. I think this is a violation of his promise, unlike his review of the EVO-17S 30-SERIES, which I agree is a product targeted at a different buyer. I think the Framework Laptop and the Surface Laptop Studio are too similar of products, and they're only going to get more similar as Framework adds more features, like a touch screen. Again, I don't really mind, but I recognize that someone else might, especially considering the original "should I invest" poll was nearly 50-50. What do you think?
  8. Same reason why they tried running Crysis. I'm sure there's someone out there willing to program a compatible BIOS.
  9. While far from playable, CPU rendering Crysis is definitely a proof-of-concept. The most minimal, yet still within the concept would be driving a display. Is that something consumer CPUs would be capable of these days; how powerful would one need to be? How would you even test that? You'd have to program the OS GUI completely differently, right?
  10. Whatever, man. You're in the minority here. LTT has made many videos about Hackintoshes. They do include a legal advisory, which is wise, but if they thought it was immoral, they wouldn't make the videos. A company that makes hardware and software is inherently monopolistic. Do you like monopolies? As I said, I don't think any company has the right to tell me how to use their product. Do you think a company has the right to tell you how to use their product? Louis Rossmann and other repairmen purchase stolen parts and schematics. Do you think they should be punished? Epic Games claims that Apple has monopolistic control of app distribution on iOS. Do you agree? I don't know why I'm even indulging you. I'm looking for tech tips, not philosophy tips.
  11. Great idea! I should investigate free options before I make big decisions, especially purchases. I presumed I'd have to build a whole new system, or at least get a new graphics card. I thought it only works with AMD GCs.
  12. Like I said, I'm not a professional. I wouldn't mind spending that much time getting it to work if I'm making major efficiencies in my computing department.
  13. I have thought of that, but what problem does that solve? I have no problem with Windows. The only reason I want to get rid of my PC is to clean up my desk. I think the biggest issue I have is that I want to use Apple software without giving money to Apple. I might be able to get a used M1 MBA if If-Then 3 is what happens.
  14. The feature became disabled in a software update. I don't remember downloading a hardware update so the circuitry is the same. Regardless of how niche the feature is, they spent time and money to harm the consumer. Now, maybe there's a legitimate reason why they couldn't make it work in new versions of MacOS, but that's another thing I don't like about Apple, the company. They'd never fully explain why they'd do such a thing. They removed the headphone jack because of "bravery." The real explanation is greed; they just won't admit it. Do you think the coincidence of the headphone jack removal and the release of AirPods wasn't planned? Of course it was. That kind of behaviour (removing a cheap feature to sell a more expensive one) is an indication of a monopoly. Are you arguing in support of planned obsolescence?
