  1. Does 4K60 S+ capture at 4:2:2 on a SD card? or just 4:2:0?
  2. You have cases like this, but then you need to add a mobo+cpu+ram. If you have some hardware from old pc, you can do it an save lot of money.
  3. Why not a second hand 8 bay server, and use it over ethernet? It's going to be far away less expensive, more upgradable and really easy to repair, you even can put a 10gb nic on it. Even on a brand new server to use only as nas, you should expend less money than on some TB2 overpriced crap.
  4. Try to find a cheap used GTX 1060 6GB. My system is an Unraid Server with i7 3770, 16GB ram, GTX 1060 6GB and it can handle like 5-6 4k transcodes. In my case I'm limited by my internet conection, 50Mbps download, 10Mbps upload. And I found the 1060 for about 100€
  5. Hi everyone Right now I have at home a server with a Supermicro X9SCI-LN4F + i3-2100+ 4gb DDR3 ECC, running Openmediavault 4, that I use for backup things, transmission server and plex server. The thing is that I'm going to update my working machine with new mobo, cpu, gpu and case, and my actual system that is a i7 3770, Asrock Z77-Pro4, 16gb DDR3 and RX 580, that need a new use. I'm think to convert it on a server and use it as combo with the Supermicro server as the Supermicro has 4 Gigabit ports that I bond to have more bandwidth + ipmi port. But the thing is that the Supermicro server with the i3 it's not really good for transcode for plex when I'm playing something remotely, so the i7 machine should be better to that kind of work. It's worth to use them as combo? or just sell the i7 machine? And how to use them together? Maybe move to better server os than Openmediavault? Thanks in advance for your tips! Guille.
