tech.guru reacted to PrawnyUK in Frustrations with the marketing of LTT merchandise
Subscribe to YouTube premium specifically to avoid advertisements and marketing. Had unsubscribed from the LTT channels long ago because of the aggressive, unnecessary and distasteful marketing strategy. Have never understood why LTT think it's acceptable to constantly peddle their products (merch) at every available opportunity in some pseudo-comedic diatribe, it wasn’t funny the first time!
Understand that advertising/marketing is sometimes a necessary evil, especially as an aid to organisational and channel growth. Perhaps during the recently announced period of self-introspection LTT can re-evaluate the marketing strategy and make it more palatable for the audience.   Are there other members of the community who feel the same way?   Note to Mods: Have tried to avoid overt reference to the current situation. Thought now is a good time to post my frustrations with the channels marketing of merch in an objective manner. Hope this is acceptable.

I noticed linus ate multiple bags of potato chips.
In that time he didnt offer luke even one....

Question: is it rude not to offer snacks to your friend... especially if its an multi hour long event?

Do you share chips with friends?

All that is great but people working in the workforce know policies are meaningless if not enforced.

I mean by your logic every workplace that has a code of conduct against harrassment.
    Should have zero harrassment?
    Yeah right.

Nearly 7 in 10 people experience a form of harrassment in the workplace.

    Implied warrenties do exist.

At least in canada they do.

One thing I just noticed is how the speaker says "Be cautious when one side is bound by legal and ethical guidelines and the other is not".   Then calls into question the character of someone who would engage in that kind of gossip against someone who has no power to defend themself.

The side of a story like this bound by guidelines is going to be the side with POWER.  The employer.

So "be cautious" of the person who has no guidelines, the employee, because the person with legal obligations has no power.  That is an inversion of what is ethical.

To see why suppose we weren't talking about LMG who we all like but instead about a college professor.  Suppose they were to trash talk about their current students by name, after having given them biased grades and grabbed their booty.  No one would defend that or call the prof "weak" because due to the numerous laws and guidelines that apply they cannot defend themself.

Just more reason why someone is going to have to be fired Mr. Burns style.

Not flashy and high production. But Wendell over at Level1Techs is fantastic. He knows his stuff better than just about anyone. I've been watching him since back in the Tek Syndicate days...speaking of Youtube drama, anyone else remember the drama when Tek Syndicate imploded?

I've largely gone off the mainstream but there are some I'm still following.

https://www.youtube.com/@TechTechPotato - run by Ian Cutress who used to be the x86 CPU guy at Anandtech. His current content doesn't overlap heavily in the PC enthusiast space but he did do possibly the best response to the LTT drama recently.

https://www.youtube.com/@pcworld - mainly for their weekly podcast "The Full Nerd" where they discuss news in PC space. May be a bit mainstream for my tastes.

https://www.youtube.com/@DigitalFoundry - probably best place to go if you want analysis on gaming graphics, PC and console.

https://www.youtube.com/@2kliksphilip - I'm not even sure how to describe this channel. I guess he leans into PC GPU/graphics but in a style unlike anything else.

https://www.youtube.com/@CraftComputing - I only recently found out about this channel, as the guy running it was in a panel at LTX which was streamed by PCWorld. What got my attention is his take on how the mainstream channels may not be providing useful data or opinion in GPU testing and leading to poor conclusions from it. I'm still checking out other content. Will see if this is one to follow for the longer term.

    my source of 3C videos

    MobileTechReview for laptops
Snazzy Labs and MKBHD for Apple Stuffs (I’m still willing to give a chance to Mac Address for this one)
    Lon.TV for laptops and tablets
Geekerwan for in-depth review for SOCs, you’ll learn a lot about SOCs and the best explanation I have ever seen about why Mac laptops last longer than standard OEM ones
    GN, Level1Techs for PC hardware

I used to watch Mr Mobile until he keeps flexing that he has a foldable and keeps saying everyone should buy foldables

This is how smaller channel do battery testing laptop while LTT fails miserably, it is pretty insightful. (Remember to turn on the subtitles because of the terrible English)

And this is how they test power efficiency of smartphone SOC.

I don’t really have any other tech channels similar to LTT to recommend, I find other tech channels bland. That being said you should check out “Stuff Made Here” or “Code Bullet.” They are both more on the software side in my opinion but I would consider them tech or tech adjacent but a different style than LTT. I really enjoy them both.

Made up their mind about what?

This framing you have built around the situation, what are you actually trying to say?

A group can always... do better.

Then you are terribly under-qualified to give your opinion.
Make your mind from one tweet sure, but don't imagine that you are well informed at all. So saying "I have seen women first hand lie about things" is actually of very little importance to anyone. (also personal bias much?)
