  1. Any chance of getting a link to that list of HDR mastering info for feature films that you flash on the screen at 6:13?
  2. I'm not familiar with Spyder's calibration software as I use i1 Display Profiler but is there an option to leave the brightness as-is? Would probably be labeled "Use Native Luminance" or something like that? It may be pushing it down to a lower standard luminance by default.
  3. @dmtzcain - I am also looking forward to when proper HDR support happens for still images! I think it will take a long while though, unfortunately. While there are quite a number of displays that support HDR, mostly TV's & cell phones at this point, the software and usage of HDR content is still real awkward and confusing in a lot of ways for average consumers. As you note, while there have been still image standards put forth, there seems to be little interest in adopting them or making them usable in a meaningful way. There was one interesting development in this space lately though, but only applies to photographers shooting raw formats. Affinity Photo (photoshop type program) just had an update that adds proper HDR support to their Raw converter. I downloaded a trial and played a round with it a bit and it's kind of amazing to see your photos with such a broad exposure and gamut latitude (assuming you have a good HDR display). It's currently fairly useless except for checking out your photos and gawking until we have more meaning full ways to use them but it has me excited for what's to come.
  4. @AlexTheGreatish - Did you guys not test any HDR Games on the OLED panel for this review? I recently got one of these laptops and found that HDR Gaming on these is very broken and does not work correctly. This seems like something worth pointing out as some people might buy this very gaming branded laptop that has HDR and reasonably assume that HDR gaming would work. Not so much. I've seen some comments that the other Samsung OLED panel laptops by other brands are all possibly in the same boat with this. Hopefully it's just some sort of driver issue that will be sorted out, but for now it's a pretty big let down.
