How do you prove their poor classroom performance is directly caused by their lack of a home PC?

Check craigslist.  Some times you can get lucky and datacenters are selling or giving away old equipment.

You'll get old, but complete PC (minus the hard drives). That's where I used to check for cheap of free PCs.

I won't do so. There are cards without thermal pads for GDDR5, but those don't have that flat metal plate above VRAM to allow air directly contact the GDDR5 modules.

    You know what’s crazy though?

I play a Knight class character and have died 50+ times..

But when I played the Pyromancer I killed him in my first try, because I could do damage from a distance instead of having to walk straight into his giant cleaver.

Its insane how much easier one class is over another.

    Hi folks,

So I run a nonprofit which refurbishes old computers and gives them to kids in poverty who are failing academically because of their lack of access to a computer at home.

I need some ideas on where I can get some cheapish stuff for these computers.

Our local electrics recycler is great but has pretty much nothing that you need when you need it.

The scrapyard turns everything they find over to the recycler and ebay of course is overpriced.

    Ideas?

Flying Sausages reacted to Touch My Hamm in Worth Buying now 1440p 144HZ monitor?
monitors are always coming out. Anytime there is a good sale is a good time to buy what your looking for IMO. They will get cheaper in the future but your looking at a slow decline and not a drop in $1000 a month in pricing. If your wanting the monitor I say do what feels right. 140+Hz is nice as alot of people like the smooth feeling. I am a color junkie and unless it had accurate reproduction I usually look away, but not everyone is as picky as myself. I do not see anything on the horizon as its the start of a new year and the tech shows have not all come out yet. I bet more monitors will come out but most will either be the very expensive or normal monitors that you will see next year.

OLED panels are susceptible to burn-in, so if you were using it for a desktop environment where the task bar is always at the bottom, icons in the same place for extended periods of time, etc... it could result in screen burn-in. Someone else can correct me if I am wrong - but this is the case with most OLED TVs. I own the latest model of LG's 65" OLED tv (not the specific model with a LOT of burn-in complaints... just a year model after that one!)
My TV has a pixel-shifting feature, and another feature where you can schedule it to refresh pixels across the board the next time the TV is off. (takes a long time to run)

So, I'd just go with a 1440p / 144hz IPS panel (or VA if you prefer). As far I've known, only CS:GO gamers prefer anything above 144hz and they are hardcore. Most would argue 144hz is the sweet spot for 1440p because you have to keep in mind these are more frame rates your video card has to generate and keep up with the refresh rate.

Flying Sausages reacted to Jurrunio in Asus X570-P & TUF Gaming X570-Plus
TUF is indeed better, and should be your choice due to the price difference.

There is no build quality difference, they are both 3 year warranty boards. There is a lot of features cut off on the X570-P, as you can see by looking at the rear I/O

12+2 is stronger than 8+4 in power delivery, but unless you run a 3950X in them you shouldnt see any measurable difference by any means. Btw they are both actually 4+2, just different number of components in each phase.

That's why the Maximus XI Hero is garbage

What is your cpu temp and  gpu temp? You can check this by running HWInfo64 in the background and running game or some kind of game benchmark like Unigine Heaven, Valley, Suspersotion, or 3DMark. I suspect your psu is the culprit causing your pc shut down in the middle of the game.

AMD is going to destroy Intel in 2020 with Zen 3 cpu and new gpu. I can't wait to see how this battle play out. Zen 3 are said to be on AM4 socket so I hope it does. X670 motherboard is going to be much better than X570 with the ridiculous chipset fan if I assume the X670 will not going to have the ridiculous chipset fan.

I ran into the same roadblock; if your parents don't help you & explain it's hard to figure things out.
How do taxes work? How do I buy & insure a car? How do I open a pension savings account? Stuff like that needs to be thought to children, it is so important yet it gets neglected all too often.

And Linus, I cannot watch this video right now but judging by the other posts it's serious.
We love you, I think I can say that!
Many of us have owe you for our hobby/passion and maybe even our career, you brought us along a journey with so much power and energy it is almost unreal!

If you're thinking about retiring for good, all the power to you.
We will forever be grateful for all the hours/days/weeks/etc you spent on making this content & growing your business.

May I suggest however what some others have in this topic, take a break.
I mean a proper "Do Not Disturb Linus" break, you have all these amazing people that work for you; get some rest & maybe you can come back swinging even stronger then before

I have to spend my own time and maybe pay for someone to teach me. Well, what is high school anyway? I don't even know how to file my parents's tax return, law, finance, and other real life important. You go to school, sit down in the classroom, copy whatever your teacher write on the board, read it, then you have a test next week or so. Cycle repeat throughout the whole year. Minimal connection and communication between teachers and students. All they care are tests and test scores. Some of them tell you to open your textbook and do these pages and turn it in at the end of the day like what did I learn by doing this?
