  1. Give it a try, windwos has gotten pretty good at not crashing and will just unload stuff thats not currently used. And if it doesnt help you can still buy the RAM in a few days.
  2. Id rather not go through the trouble if i can. And im looking for somehting around 4x16TB so just a normal external one wont be nearly enough
  3. The first thing you should do is disable the page file. That will force windows to cache less and clear more and might already fix most of your issues. I have almost exactly the same use and never had a problem with 16 GB. (Until is started running several games in parallel and compiling stuff on the side but thats another issue)
  4. Im looking a 4-bay NAS that also doubles as a DAS so i can bring it with me to places where i will not have Internet access. The only one i found is the QNAP TVS-871T that on the one hand has 8 bays (to big) and also isnt available anymore. Are there any others?
  5. On this weeks WAN show there was a comment from Linus about the new password manager the company is using. I'm curious which one it is.
  6. 2.5 - 2.75 is usually comfortable, at 3x I got to really concentrate, anything above that is unintelligible
  7. Since the 4 hour mark has been reached this week i got curious how the duration changed over the years. Since i know a little js I took the WAN show playlist and parsed and plotted it. So if anyone cares, heres the graph: It seems between 2017 and 2021 the quite a few are missing from the playlist (especially 2020). If this ever gets fixed i can resubmit the pic. Fun-fact: Ive been trying/challenging myself to keep the real watchtime und an hour but these passt few weeks made me surrender. If there is interest in the script to increase the playbackspeed to more than 2x let me know.
  8. This is not enough data to give you an answer. To get the capacity of your battery you also need the voltage its operating on and the batterys discharge rate. The discharge rate, unless you directly get a X watt, is oftengiven in C, which represents the number of full charges taht could be giving of in 1 hour (i.e. 2C -> 0.5 hours to discharge). As an example for a 12V battery at 2C discharge rate you get: 100 Ah/0.5h = 200 A 200A*12V = 1200W On a sidenote: The takeover from main power to battery needs to be FAST, on the order of miliseconds
  9. At that budget the used market is definitely your friend, but dont let yourself get scammed. It so happens that i upgraded just a short while ago and still have my old RX 480 I could sell. If you are interested shoot me a pm. (also from germany)
  10. Sweet, they look good. CRS309 is probably the way to go. Do you know if the SFP+ ports are compatible with the SFP transceivers?
  11. Hi guys, I got a bit of an odd situation. I have several locations that are too far apart to connect them with ethernet cables but individuall they do not require a large bandwidth (100-200 Mbit max. I expect). So Im in need of a switch that has many SFP ports and few Ethernet ports (ideally at least one of them 10G) but the usual application is the exact opposite. Can anyone recommend me a switch like this if it exists?
  12. Setting fixed offsets on a moving baseline must be the worst way to tune the curve imaginable... Still thank you, got the card mostly dialed in now and it's looking great
  13. I'm trying to get an undervolt going on my gpu with msi afterburner. But everytime i set something and save some whacky stuff happens to the curve so I'm planning to directly set values in the config file. Each point in there is voltage frequency and offset. To my understanding frequency+ offset= clock and having separate values for frequency and offset seems useless. Is there any reason to not directly set the frequency to what i want the clock to be?
  14. Turns out im an idiot. The little plastic bit that "attaches" the 2 pin to the 6 pin is usually in both sides but one of those was missing so i put the 2 pin on the wrong side...
