  1. Hello,

I am currently running a modded minecraft forge server for some friends on a dedicated pc

    Specs of the server:

    Intel Xeon 1650 v2

    16gb (4x4gb) ddr3 1866mhz ECC memory

    2tb Seagate 7200rpm HDD

Radeon HD 7470 gpu (just so I have a display)

    Windows 10, (not linux sorry)

(its a slightly modified HP Z420 if that helps)

The issue is that server often lags and I am unsure as to why. There's never more than 3 people on a time

It is wired through a gigabit ethernet connection on a 1000mbs internet plan so i dont think its the internet

I would believe that the Xeon would be strong enough to handle the server

I have 12gb of the 16gb of memory allocated to the server

Temps don't seem to be an issue as I've monitored them while the server was in use and never passed or came close to the threshold of throttling

I'm just not sure why it is doing it.The mods are relatively light minus a couple biome generating mods.

    Is it the CPU?

    Is it the HDD?

Or is it something I am missing?

    Bonus question:

If it is the CPU, would moving the server to a 9th gen i5 help a lot or would there be little improvement?

  2. Hello all,

I am looking for some advice/suggestions for a recent prebuilt I picked up.

I saw this beauty on the used market and managed to snag it for $150 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-ideacentre-720-18asu-desktop-amd-ryzen-5-series-8gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-silver/5887606.p?skuId=5887606

    Specs:

    Ryzen 5 1400

    1tb WD Blue HDD

    Radeon R5 340 2gb GPU

    8gb (2x4gb) 2400mhz RAM

    250w Lenovo Proprietary PSU :(

    Everything works perfectly

    Here's the deal:

I'm unsure if I should upgrade it to sell for a potential larger profit, sell as is for some profit, or turn it into some type of home server thingy

Potential upgrade I had in mind:

Add a small SSD boot drive

Swap gpu for a GTX 1650

swap ram for 16gb (2x8gb) kit

Questions for this potential upgrade route:

The lenovo case doesn't have much ventilation so I am worried that thermals may be an issue. It has one exhaust fan in the back and large side vent. Would thermals be an issue even though the 1650 is such a low power card? It would most likely be a single fan card for dimension reasons.

I estimate that these upgrades would bring the total project cost to about  $370-$400 usd. How much do you think I'd be able to sell it for?

Another issue is the GPU's psu requirement. The upgraded specs according to pcpartpicker would draw close to 180w of total power, definately under 250w. I am worried because the 1650 has a minimum of a 300w psu need. I would get a new psu but because it doesnt use standard connectors (thanks lenovo) this would't be impossible with the oem motherboard. Would this be ok? Or is there an adapter I can buy?

well RANDOM bluescreens that don't typically go along with anything in particular that you happen to be doing usually boil down to a problem with the ram.

Easy way to check is remove one stick of ram from your build and run with only a single stick in the machine.

If the machine is 100% stable with only a single stick it shows either the ram is bad or the way the board deals with mutiple sticks has some sort of issue.

Thank you, I will try this soon

Are you going to bother telling us what components you used and what diagnostics you've already done before posting or do we get to play the guessing game.

My build was under my profile but here is a link to my pc

I've only started to get into pc building about 5 or 6 months ago and only finished my first build maybe 2 months ago. I don't have any experience with dealing with blue screens and diagnostics or anything of the sort so I was hoping someone could help me or at least point me in the right direction on what to do next.

  5. I want to thank you for this posting this!!

I live nowhere near a microcenter so I was bummed out that it was in-store only.

I've heard stories of Staples being very lenient on their price match policy and look!!

    $113 for a 2700x!!

Anyone who doesn't live near a Microcenter should try this!

Staples has many components on their website so go to a Staples in person to price match.

Find a kiosk and find the component on their website. Show the Microcenter price to an employee and boom!

Their 110% price match guarantee makes it even better than Microcenter!

  7. Hello all,

I'm currently in a specific situation and would like some advice on the matter.

The family computer at my parent's house is ancient so I agreed to help and build them a new one.

They wanted a good pc that would't cost anything. My sibling also wanted to be able to do some gaming on it.

I purchased an old Dell Optiplex on Ebay with an I7 3770 as a base for the build. I bought a new Seasonic 500w PSU, some used ram, and a used RX 580 to add.

I did get it working for about a week before the motherboard started having problems.

I've already put about 400 into all of these parts and dont want to put much more out.

I also am thinking of getting a new case as the stock optiplex offers little cooling

Motherboard options im looking at include a New chinese Jingsha one and a used Gigabyte one on Aliexpress:

  8. Hello,

I've recently built a new pc and started playing Rocket League again

I've been off the game for a couple weeks so I'm not sure if this is a know bug/glitch with the recent update or if my computer has a problem.

During kickoff, one of the corner full-boosts is gone but when I drive over it I still get the boost as if it was there. The boost then respawns as normal and doesn't go invisible but during random parts of a match another boost will go invisible and perform the same.

    Anyone else have this issue?

Those are the exact same prices from buying directly from nvidia... so what kind of discount are we talking?

Nvidia is typically sold out. Discount compared to Newegg and eBay prices. Just wanted to let people know that there is a place that still has some in stock at Nvidia prices.

  10. Hi all!

    Quick question,

I have an Asus Gaming Tuf Wifi x570 motherboard

Like most x570 motherboards, the board has a fan for the chipset

My 2060 super FE covers about half the fan with little clearance between the 2

Is this an issue?? Its not covered completely but it I am concerned it is hindering its cooling.

    Anyone else have this issue?

  11. Hello all,

I have a particular situation I was hoping to have some guidance on.

I'm currently building a pc for myself and wanted to get a nvme ssd for a boot drive,

I managed to get a great deal for a 1tb Kingston KC2000 ssd from a local shop but about a week later I received a 1tb Corsair MP 600 gen 4 ssd as a gift.

I now had 2 Nvme drives for one pc.

From what i could tell from Asus's website, my motherboard ( Asus tuf gaming x570 wifi) should support 2 nvme drives so I think I'm going to use both.

I wanted to ask a few questions about this because I've never used a m.2 ssd or a m.2 nvme ssd before....

Will my motherboard be able to run these drives both at Nvme speeds at the same time?

The MP600 has a heatsink built on so should I use the single thermal guarded m.2 port on the the KC2000 and leave the MP600 in the open air port or the other way around?

I want the MP600 to be the boot drive so should I wait to install the KC2000 so I don't mistake the 2 drives during a windows installation or will I be able to tell the 2 apart when installing?

Will these 2 Nvme drives take up any bandwidth from my SATA ports?

    Thanks for any help!

My PC specs just in case:

    CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x

    GPU: RTX 2060 Super FE

RAM: 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3600mhz

    PSU: Corsair RM750

MOBO: Asus TUF Gaming x570 Wifi

    CASE: Corsair 450d

    CPU COOLER: Wraith Prism

I got sort of a corsair theme going on lol

For 50$ there is not much available for the budget. But if you can extend that budget a bit, you can go for a hyper 212 black edition. Its very nice and performs quite nice as well. Don't know though for an OC 3700x but I think it take it.

I should’ve mentioned this in the original post but I don’t plan on overclocking it. Just looking for something that looks good and keeps the temp lower than the stock cooler at stock speeds

  13. Hello all.

I've recently purchased a Ryzen 3700x for my pc build.

I'm looking to buy a good aftermarket cpu cooler without breaking the bank as I don't like the stock cooler it came with.

I'm trying to keep it under $50

The current cpu cooler I'm considering is the DeepCool Gammaxx GT

Anyone know if this is a good cooler or any other coolers to consider??? RGB Asus Aura sync preferred.

    Many thanks!

  14. I'm building a pc with a tight budget and need to pick out a graphics card for around $200.

    There's two I'm currently considering:

    RX 590 8g Sapphire Pulse

    RX 590 8g ASRock Phantom Gaming X

Any of you have experience with either these cards?

Any other GPUs I should consider at this price-point?

  15. Hi all,

I'm having issues with a budget build and was hoping one of you could help.

I'm using a Dell Optiplex 9010 as my base.

Here are the specs Im using:

    Intel I7 3770

    16gb (4x4gb) of 1600mhz Nanya ddr3 ram

    stock dell motherboard

    MSI Gaming V1 RX 580 8gb GPU

    Corsair vs650 PSU

    The problem:

The computer was bought used with a 250gb WD Blue HDD. Whenever I tried installing any driver my pc would black screen and freeze. I then would restart my computer to a windows attempting repair screen and I'd have to restore a previous version to get it to run again. The strange thing was that it was random. Sometimes it would let me install my gpu drivers and sometimes it would not. Sometimes I could install my USB wifi adapter driver and other times I could not. At one point I managed to get as far as to download Overwatch and play a match only for it to crash again and break over a Intel HD 4000 driver. It was because of the randomness I thought my HDD was to blame so I replaced it with a new Crucial BX500 ssd and install a clean copy of windows on to it. I was hoping that a fresh windows install on a brand new ssd would solve my problem but it crashed once again when installing my RX 580 driver. My next guess is to blame the motherboard but I am not sure. Please help

Did the Computer have a graphics card in before? Try DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)  and remove the drivers. Make sure you boot the PC without the graphics card and then when you're done with a pc with no drivers install the GPU and turn on. If that works then you can install the drivers and it should be good. If you need help feel free to ask me and I'll be happy to help. The worst that it could be is the dead GPU or PCIe slot.

Never had a graphics card in it before. Tried removing the current drivers and reinstalling them with no success. Tried disabling the onboard graphics driver and it still didn’t work. Only time I managed to get the gpu to put out any display was in safe mode.

  17. Hi, first post here.

I recently acquired a MSI Rx 580 V1 to upgrade my father’s personal computer.

He he has a Dell Optiplex MT with an i7 3770 16gb of 1600mhz ram and a Seasonic 500w psu

The 580 is giving me issues booting as it quickly flashes green then heads to a blank black screen where I can do nothing.

I have the latest drivers, the latest Bios, the Radeon software installed, the 580 is set as the default display in the bios, all physical connections secured.

The card shows up in the bios and in the Radeon software when I’m using the intel hd display but can not get the card to boot. The card is getting power because the fan is spinning.

Any ideas on the issue or is the gpu just dead?
