  1. Yeah I'm already running the games 1440p with decent fps, but keep stuttering especially in MSFS. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it preforms on arrival.
  2. Hey all, Quick question, I just ordered the HP Reverb G2 VR headset, and am planning to use it for MSFS2020 and DCS but am beginning to wonder if my system will be able to punch out the necessary frames for an enjoyable experience (minimal stuttering, decent frames, and visual quality). PC specs: Ryzen 7 5800x, Gigabyte 3060ti v2 oc, Mastercool ML240L aio, Asus Prime x570-p, Rosewill Zircon case, 32 gb (2x16) G.Skill Ripjaws 3600, 850w Corsair psu, Intel nvme 670p 500gb m.2 boot, Crucial BX500 1tb, WD Blue 1tb, Samsung 870 evo 1tb
  3. The 5800x and 3060ti is what I run and it's a heck of a system. 32 gigs of quality ram is important especially for sim games, but you can get away with 16 gigs for your AAA titles. I personally found that I needed a 360 aio to keep tems average for the cpu, but steer clear of cooler master products they haven't been good by my experience. Also if you are going to buy a monitor too, consider 1440p as it will be the sweet spot for fps and visual fidelity. Can't go wrong with 32", but avoid going over that otherwise the pixel density will begin to degrade.
  4. I appreciate the insight but apparently you did not read the op. The drives are not faulty because all other platforms work perfectly fine.
  5. Hey all, TLDR: Steam game updates/patches/downloads taking forever (1 hr for a 500mb patch). Download speed is usually 1 gig, but something is throttling the download causing it to start and stop (see attached images). Other platforms (ie: epic, battle.net, etc do NOT have the same problem, it is only with steam). I connect to Vancouver servers for downloads. Sys specs: Ryzen 7 5800x, Gigabyte 3060ti v2 oc, Mastercool ML240L aio, Asus Prime x570-p, Rosewill Zircon case, 32 gb (2x16) G.Skill Ripjaws 3600, 850w Corsair psu, Intel nvme 670p 500gb m.2 boot, Crucial BX500 1tb, WD Blue 1tb, Samsung 870 evo 1tb The long story: Just started having this problem over the last couple months (though none of my friends playing the same games with the same updates have had it). Download speeds have been reduced so much that its taking up to an hour or more for a simple patch to finish. I have 1 gb fiber, and decent ssd's that i'm downloading to. My cpu isn't even breaking a sweat, and temps are all normal. I haven't changed any hardware in the last while, and have tried the following fixes so far: 1: changing download location 2: clearing steam download cache 3: disabling windows defender 4: fresh install of windows/steam 5: changing installation drives 6: changing to wifi for downloads It appears that only steam is having this issue, and it's really stumped me. Could be a problem on their end because no other platform is giving me this issue. Any recommended fixes?
  6. Hey yall, TLDR: cpu is idling at 45-50*C, thermal throttles instantly (90*C) in cinebench r20 with a score of 5930, thermal throttles in 5k render (output) on davinci resolve premium. I recently upgraded a pc that now has the current specs as listed below: 5800x Mastercool ML240L aio Asus Prime x570-p Rosewill Zircon case 32 gb (2x16) G.Skill Ripjaws 3600 600w Thermaltake psu Gigabyte 3060ti v2 oc Intel ssd 670p 500gb m.2 boot Crucial BX500 1tb WD Blue 1tb Samsung 870 evo 1tb This build was designed around 5k video editing for my work, and a little bit of gaming on the side. I ran Cinebench yesterday and got a score well into the 5900's but the moment I started it the fans ramped up like a jet engine and it hit 90*C (as displayed by afterburner). I'm not upset about the score as it seems the average is around 5742 so it's preforming quite well without an overclock. What worries me is the idle temps. Sitting on the desktop with nothing other than windows typical bloat in the background I am at 45-50*c. In CSGO that goes up to around 67-74*C. Rendering 5k footage from my mavic 3 in Davinci Resolve it instantly shoots up to 90*C and the live playback of the render starts to get choppy. I've been thinking of preforming an under volt to bring these temps down a bit, but don't want to harm the performance as the main point of this build was to improve my productivity. Here's what I've done already: reseated the aio on the cpu, adjusted fan curves in bios, lowered power limit in afterburner, run with side panel open to improve airflow, updated chipset and other drivers. Seeing as I just installed the new hardware yesterday there is no notable buildup of dust in the machine. Also as a point to note I upgraded from a i5 10400f and a gigabyte b560 board. Does this chip just run hot, or could there be something else going on? Any input on this matter would be appreciated. Cheers!
  7. Thats my thinking too. Seems odd that it would just suddenly stop working though.
  8. Sorry, tried to be thorough. Computer is not posting, occasionally a cmos refresh will make it post and boot to windows. Graphics card, ram, and psu swap did not change the outcome. Cpu light on mobo lit. Fans revving on all components, rgb working. Peripheral rgb not on.
  9. Already tried swapping it with one from a different board.
  10. Specs (All new parts) Ryzen 5 3600x with wraith spire fan MSI RTX 2070 super gaming MSI b550m pro vdh wifi EVGA 700w 80+ gold Vengeance 2x 8gb 3200 mhz Silicon Power A58, and WD 1Tb hdd No overclocking has been done, no changes inside the bios other than the recommended update which I had no issues with. Here's the low down: I built this pc about a month ago in a Cooler master case with very sufficient air flow (overheating is definitely not the problem here). Two days ago I put my computer into the sleep state with a game running in the background. I came back about 30 min later and tried to wake the pc but it was unresponsive. I waited about 10 min to see if anything would happen, then decided to do a hard restart. The computer powered up but did not post. All the rgb on the fans were lit and the fans were running on all the internal parts including the gpu. I did notice that they were running a lot louder then they should during the boot, and they did not turn to a lower fan speed as they usually did on boot up. I left it like this for several minutes to see if it was just taking its own sweet time, but no luck. After reading around a bit I decided to clear the CMOS. With the computer unplugged and the battery out I pressed the power button several times, left it for about five minutes, then plugged everything back in. Low and behold it booted into the bios and was running like new. I restarted it several times to make sure it wasn't some fluke and there was no problem with it, it started just fine. That brings us to today. This morning I hopped on to get in a little time on a different game, played for an hour, then powered it off as usual and got to my work. An hour later I turned it on and it did the same thing. The motherboard has 4 lights to indicate potential references in case of an error, and I noticed that the CPU light was a steady solid white. No tones from the speakers, the fans were ramped up like before. No post. I took out the graphics card to access the cmos battery, ran through the same procedure, but it still wouldn't boot. I checked through all the wiring to see if something was loose, or if a screw was shorting something on the mobo, but nope. I ended up calling MSI to see what they would recommend, they asked me to plug in a different PSU, i did but no bueno. I tried putting in different ram, still nothing. Unseated the CPU and checked for bent pins, but they were all good. Socket looked clean also. Reseated the cpu, put on new thermal paste, refastened the cooler and tried to boot again. Nothing. Swapped out the 2070 for an older 1050 2gb to see if it was an issue with that, nada. Just to ensure everything was on the up and up I plugged my gpu, psu, and ram into an older mobo and they all worked fine, I achieved a post. Plugged them back into my current mobo with the 3600x, still nothing. Finally I took the cmos battery and both ram sticks out again and just left the system for a couple hours as one post had recommended. I inserted one ram into the second dim slot and fired it up. Finally I achieved a post and was able to get into windows through the safe mode. After checking thermals I restarted and it booted properly in just a couple seconds. It seems to me like there could be a faulty capacitor on the mobo, or something fishy going on with the CPU? To be honest im completely clueless. This is the second computer i've built, first AMD system, and with my long history with computers this is the first time something like this has happened to me. Does anyone know what might be going on? I am considering getting the mobo and/or cpu replaced under warranty, but wanted to check in with the experts here first. Cheers!
  11. Would this B450 support 3rd gen cpus though?
  12. I just dont care for one atm. Besides, I have all of my games saved locally on my old HD.
  13. Hi All, I've been gaming on a 1050 2gb and I5 7400 for a couple years now and feel that its about darned time for a new build. I live in Canada, and wanted to purchase most of my hardware from either Amazon.ca, or Bestbuy, or newegg. I put together a list of what im interested in building with, but have never pieced together a full system so i'm not exactly sure what is compatible, or if there are better options out there for the same price. I'm hoping to keep the build below 1,300 CAD before shipping and tax. Would like to see at least 1080p gaming in most titles with 60+ fps. I also do a bit of 4k editing, but its not a huge concern for me, the main purpose is for gaming (ie: GRW Breakpoint, Doom, FC 5, Just Cause, Assassins Creed, etc). 1. Ryzen 5 3600 2. Radeon RX 5700 3. Asus Prime X-570 P 4. 16 GB Vengeance 3000mhz 5. EVGA 650 W 6. CoolerMaster MB520 7. HDD (from my old computer, im not really interested in upgrading to a ssd at this time) 8. Have not decided on a screen yet. At this time the build will cost 1,278.71 CAD before shipping and tax. Is this a good idea to proceed with the build? Will all of the hardware be compatible? Or are there better options to go with that may not cost as much? In the past I have only swapped some ram, and a PSU on a computer so this will be my first full build. I've watched a lot of LTT videos on building computers and feel as if I have enough information to build it properly, so all I need is some technical assistance in finding the right parts. Cheers!
