  1. Gotcha, makes sense. So effectively depending on the amount of storage I'd want to get, it could (in theory* be less expensive and faster to actually go for an NVME and card combo compared to getting a SATA SSD with cashe)? *Providing I just do some searching for deals...
  2. Thanks again for the info! The MX500 was the SATA SSD I was looking at since all of Samsung's 2.5" SSDs seem to always be pricier compared to others with comparable cashe. On another note (just to make sure I'm understanding what I've been reading online), I'm guessing that an expansion card running PCIE 3.0 2x (if that were even possible) would be slower than even a regular SATA SSD (with or without cache) just due to the limited bandwidth?
  3. Hi everyone! Looks like I'm starting to run a little low on storage space so I figured it'd be time to start looking around for options when the time comes. I'm currently using both of my motherboard's M.2 slots which only leaves me with either PCI-E or SATA. The only thing is I'm a bit new/an idiot when it comes to storage... I'm wondering is whether it'd be better/makes more sense by installing one or more NVMe drives on a 16x PCI-E M.2 expansion card (such as a Asus Hyper M.2 x16 PCI-E 4.0 Get 4 Expansion Card) (because less cable management to deal with) or just using a regular 2.5" SATA SSD in order to maintain the overall fastest read/write speeds possible (I know that any NVME drives on an expansion card would be running on PCI-E 3.0). Hopefully I didn't leave out any important info. Thanks in advance to everyone for your help/advice! The PC in question is running a 5700X on a B550 Aorus Elite AX V2 (rev 1.2) which has the following: Expansion Slots: 1 x PCI Express x16 slot (PCIEX16), integrated in the CPU: Occupied by the GPU 1 x PCI Express x16 slot (PCIEX2), integrated in the Chipset: Supporting PCIe 3.0 x2 mode 1 x PCI Express x16 slot (PCIEX1_2), integrated in the Chipset: Supporting PCIe 3.0 x1 mode 1 x PCI Express x1 slot (PCIEX1_1), integrated in the Chipset: Supporting PCIe 3.0 x1 mode Motherboard's Storage Interface: 1 x M.2 connector (M2A_CPU), integrated in the CPU Occupied by a 1TB Samsung 980 Pro (boot drive) (MZ-V8P1T0CW) 1 x M.2 connector (M2B_SB), integrated in the Chipset Occupied by a 500GB Samsung 970 EVO (MZ-V7E500BW) 4 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors, integrated in the Chipset: 1 of these connectors is already in use by an existing 1TB Samsung 860 QVO 2.5" SSD (MZ-76Q1T0/AM)

  5. Hi Everyone, So I just got finished switching over to a new case and motherboard. However, for some reason the RGB on my 2x8gb kit of Trident Z Neo is either messed up or just broken. I was previously using an Asus board and Aura Sync for the RGB, I had zero issues whatsoever. However, once I switched over I've been having issues. I'm now running with an NZXT Kraken X62 inside a H210i (I've installed CAM). So far I've done the following: - Uninstalled/deleted Aura Sync and Asus Armourcrate. - Tried uninstalling and reinstalling RGB Fusion 2.0. - Tried starting up PC without CAM software running. Only running Fusion 2.0, tried playing around with the controls within Fusion, Turing lighting effects off/on to see if was just a glitch. None of these have helped the issues I'm facing. I've attached some videos to give better insight/context for the issue. Help would be greatly appreciated! Another small issue I'm having is that the included LED strip isn't lighting up (even though it shows up within the CAM software and doesn't show as having any issues). I have it plugged into the Smart Controller which is connected to the Internal USB expander. Everything is plugged in correctly and receiving power. IMG_2120 1.mov IMG_2121 1.mov IMG_2122 1.mov
  6. So I just finished building my first pc a few days ago. However, I haven't actually been able to do anything on it since i'm in the middle of moving. Anyways, nothing's been done besides installing windows (the thing isn't even connected to the internet). Because of all of this I wanted to get input on what some of the first useful programs/utilities I should be downloading once I'm settled (Besides the basics like Steam, and Chrome). Here's a link to my parts list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/cFHCsZ Don't bother with the "wHYd u gO fOr x570 wItH A 3600 or 5700 iNstEaD oF 2060... sHoULd'vE gOnE B450 AnD savEd MOneY" I didn't want to get a second cpu to update the bios and didn't feel like waiting till 5700 with good airflow come out (and likely be more expensive) Anyways, thanks for whatever suggestions you'd be able to throw my way, I'd greatly appreciate it.
  7. How much of a difference would 3600Mhz make to 3200Mhz? Currently Amazon Canada has 16gb of Trident Z RGB (CL16-18-18-38 Timing) for $117.99 + tax (CAD) while the 3600Mhz version (18-22-22-42) is going for $153.99 + tax on Canada Computers. I've heard a lot that Zen 2 on X570 is better off with 3600, but how much of a difference would it make (yes ik the 3600 has a higher cas latency).
  8. haha yup, the PSU was a Prime Day deal, at its price point most others were non-modular so I figured why not.
  9. the nvme is the boot drive and then the other one is just secondary, I don't really need a lot of space at the moment so just went with a 2.5 ssd instead of a hdd. What's benefit about the Coolermaster cases compared to the ones I mentioned?
  10. So I'm getting ready to build my first PC. I've chosen almost everything, except a case. I've narrowed it down to a few contenders but I'm not sure which I should go for (I like all of them in their own way). I'd love to get feedback about the user-friendliness of building/cable management in each case. I want something clean and appealing but still have good lighting since all have a glass side panel. Thank you so much in advance for helping me out The Top Contending Cases Are: Fractal Design Meshify C NZXT H500i Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX TG The build they'll be housing can be found here
  11. Efficiency isn't really that big of a deal for me since my province has the cheapest electricity in North America (not really a flex since it's Quebec...) Besides that and modularity, I don't really know what difference a PSU really makes (I haven't looked into the differences yet).
  12. I got the PSU for $89 CAD (After taxes), not sure if you saw the price I paid or just going based off regular retail.
  13. I'm getting ready to build my first PC in the next few weeks/month. I'm still finalizing what exactly I want to do, I would love any advice you could give me! PC PartPicker List I've so far I've decided on going for: Ryzen 5 3600 X570 Motherboard with WIFI (haven't decided on which one yet, don't want to have to worry about any possible BIOS updates with older boards.) M.2 Boot Drive (I already have a 500GB WD Blue SSD in my 2011 MacBook Pro that I'm planning on adding into this) 16gb of dual-channel 3600 mhz RAM (Not sure if worth the jump from 3200). I already had a monitor that I used for Xbox Gaming so I'm going to use that, keyboard, mouse, and Power Supply were Amazon Prime Day deals. Originally I was going to go for an ITX build because I rather something smaller and that would fit on my desk. Unfortunately, I was limited to only one X570 motherboard option so now I'm debating of just doing an ATX build because of the increase in options. The only issue I have with this is that I don't want something super huge just sitting on my desk, I like simple and clean design (I have a MacBook Pro as my daily driver for school), and that's why I'm still unsure whether I want to go for ATX or ITX, and what case I should go for. I'm looking to spend around $1600.00 CAD all in (Tax included, Quebec is 14.975%), and I'd rather stick with having stuff shipped from Canadian stores because I don't want to worry with having to deal with Duties. ANY AND ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!
