Time to make dinner then I'll get around to the awards post. Expect it in 3-4 hours time most probably.

So dinner got delayed, just sitting down to eat now. I've divvyed out the prizes and the final ranks have been done. With that said, I'm still expecting it to be in the next couple when the post is up.

Sorry for making two threads on this. I didn't realize my old one would jump to the top of the list with a new post.

Just an update, I will probably do the final ranks and prizes this evening/tomorrow.
I'm not feeling too bad, just feels like I'm trying to catch my breath all the time. It's actually rather irritating. But I'm definitely don't have COVID so I guess that's something.

It was super fun! Excited for the next one!

Meganter reacted to Lurick in Quick question...
You're asking why the fans ramp up when the GPU is under heavy load? This is not a problem, this is completely normal, they ramp up when the load on the GPU is high and/or the temperature exceeds a limit then they ramp up X amount depending on the temperature set either in the vbios or via any software settings you've made.

Meganter reacted to Haro in cat thread
Garden kitten this time, his name is Coal or Charcoal, he's been living in our garden ever since he was born and slowly got used to humans around him, he slowly but surely started liking me and he's very sweet!

Meganter reacted to kelvinhall05 in SLI protection removal
Keep in mind that even if 80C was hot enough to melt it (not even close), that's the core temp of the GPU die, the entire card isn't even close to that.
-
Meganter reacted to minibois in SLI protection removal
No real reason to remove it in my opinion.
You could check if it says what type of plastic it is, but consdering something like ABS/PBT takes 200°C+ to melt or rubber about 180°C I would say you would be fine leaving it.
If it bothers or worries you, take it off.

Meganter reacted to HQi88 in Hello! Showing Off a Modern Build in an Older Case
I've been mostly lurking around on this forum but I thought I'd say hello and show my current. Its been through quite a few changes since then to get to where it is now. Sorry in advance about the cat hair, I have two cats 🐈!
Exterior View and Case
Originally I bought a Cougar MX330 but after browsing Kijiji I found this beauty instead, a Lancool PC-K65 from 2012. Better yet it allowed me to fit a larger air cooler too! Unfortunately, the front USBs were not working (located under the flap at the top of the case) so I had to install a drive bay USB expansion thingy.
Interior and not great cable management
Current specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S
GPU: Asus R7 260X OC
RAM: 32GB TeamGroup DDR4 3200MHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 UD
Storage: 1TB M.2 NVME
PSU: ToughPower 750W Gold
Fans: 2x 140mm intake + 120mm exhaust (stock fans that came with the case)
Not the best cable management, but it will do for now I guess. That vertical metal channel is really helpful!
I had bought 5700XT when I first built it but then college homework hit and I couldn't really play games anymore. So I grabbed my current GPU off Kijiji for $30 and sold the 5700XT for $700. Hopefully the GPU shortage ends when I graduate next year and I can upgrade.
Motherboard only has 3 fan headers, 1 for CPU, 1 for exhaust, 1 for front intake. Hence the LCD fan controller. Hopefully it looks nice.
Case Modification Plans:
- Got a pair of ML140s but as the fan controller is a 3pin, the ML140s wont spin slower than 1000rpm which makes an annoying whoosh sound. Have to buy a PWM Y-splitter and plug that into the PWM fan headers on the mobo
- Replace the CD drive and fan controller with a 5 inch AIDA64 that fits in the two 5.25 in bays
- Repaint insides of case a darker shade of grey and repaint outside of case with new layer of black paint
- Shave down the 5.25 bay's length and remove HDD cages
- Build a PSU shroud and add a vertical panel where the HDD cages used to be to help cover up the cable channel and the mess of cables there. Probably use a darker wood for that
- Find replacement top IO if possible
I will probably try to get all that done in the summer, might post an update by the end of August or something.
Sorry for long post

Meganter reacted to minibois in Lighthouse (My 2nd PC that im actually proud of)
Looks good!
To be honest, when I saw the title of "Lighthouse" I expected to open this thread to either see:
- A PC filled with a lot of RGB
- A PC (case) with red/white tape like those typical lighthouses by the sea
My guess goes to Indonesia (whose flag is not to be confused with Monaco or Poland)

Meganter reacted to SorryBella in Lighthouse (My 2nd PC that im actually proud of)
Heya, I'm new to LTT Forum (not new to Linus' content at all, have been watching him since the fall of 2016 to today) and i think its a good idea to both introduce myself and my 2nd computer.
The Lighthouse Itself
The thing is, I've been quite broke and cant afford any form of good computers until 2 years ago at around December 2019. I had a budget about a 1000$, and Zen 2 was still a hot ticket item thats sold at above MSRP. So with that in mind, here is Lighthouse.
Its Rocking:
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 at stock speed (Only stable at 3.8GHz with 1.32 volts, so i decided to take the stock route)
Geil Evo Potenza Zen Edition 2x8GB @ 2666, at 2800MHz, CAS 17 at 1.35V (zenplusmemorycontroller.png)
Galax GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, at +125MHz GPU Overclock and +700 Memory Overclock
480GB Sandisk SSD Plus + 2TB Seagate SkyHawk Surveillance Drive
Corsair CX550 Gray Label
Cubegaming VRED Black
1 dinky 120mm fans that's included with the case
Windows 10 Pro
Pictures (The PC, not me)

So I wanted to write a little update about what's going on with me.
As many of you have probably noticed I'm not massively available right now.
It is my son's birthday on Friday and I'm finding it hard having his birthday come up when he isn't around anymore. I'm hoping that I will snap right back into it after the day has passed. But in the meantime, you will all have to bare with me while I make it through this difficult time.
I'll post a list of the sign up's for the current event after I finish streaming today.
Thank you for your understanding.
Spec.

Meganter reacted to Ekkaro in I built a PC into my couch side table
This is the Finished product, the PC is out of sight. Scroll down to see how such a small side table is able to bare the weight of a 34inch ultrawide moniter.
If anyone is wondering WHY I'd do such a thing it's many reasons......... Wife doesn't like me being locked away in the 'man cave' all the time so I'd been gaming on the couch with my ageing, heavy and hot gaming laptop for a year, it was getting uncomfortable and I begrudged the lack of performace and quality of viewing experience even if the laptop was 17inches IPS.
The thought of spending 1.5-2k on another gaming laptop which can't be upgraded made me think outside of the box. It means my wife can watch the awful reality TV shows she loves and I can still grind on Warcraft whilst holding a convosation with her and/or have Netflix on to the side. It's been a complete win win for us both and I got to build my first ever PC which was fucking awesome!
This is what I had to start with. It's my original couch side table which I mocked up in sketchup to start planning.
The blue illustrating what I want welded onto the original table.
The red square represents the foot corner of the couch itself so to make sure everything fits.
Calculating the extension distance I can expect.
Within the underneath of the couch there are wooden beams sitting perpendicular to my steel 'feet' under the couch. The beams sit on the steel. This means the entire weight of the couch is always pressing down on the steel feet. So the monitor can swing out in any direction without the table ever moving.
There is a hdmi cable routed hidden around the room from the TV to the PC so the pc just sees the TV as a 2nd monitor.
The monitor fully tilts & rotates. It also move up an down with just 1 finger
The frame still needs powder coating and the shelve I added for the computer could of been done alot better.
The wires have been recessed underneath the keyboard and routed through to the underneath to connect to a usb hub
The hub and wires on the back also recessed.
