I finally assembled my retro HEDT system !
What I bought used :
CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K from @Damascus, better price than what I can see in France.
Motherboard: EVGA Micro 2 Micro from Damascus but previously owned by @Zando Bob, good price and not even available in France.
Video Card: Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon R9 290 4 GB from ebay for actually a very good price.
Case: modded Antec Three Hundred from my build from 2010, it needed to be modded to allow the video card to fit in the case.
What I bought new :
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S because discount and it's Noctua.
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2 x 8GB 3200MHz CL16 meh memory and not even quad channel yet.
Storage: Crucial MX500 500 GB 2.5" why pay the double for Samsung when this one is as good ?
Power Supply: be quiet! Straight Power 11 650W not supposed to explode
What I plan to bought later :
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2 x 8GB 3200MHz CL16 for that fancy quad channel memory.
3 Noctua NF-P12 redux-1700 PWM fans because there are actually no fans in the case.
A build log will maybe come in the next year (if Earth survives 2020).

I tried with metal scissors and I ended up using a Dremel The cuts are well done but kind of sharps so for the cables I placed duct tape above to be sure it doesn't cut them on the long run. It's also a build for fun since I already have a main one far better, I'll keep it or sell it, I don't know yet

I like it. We should go toe to toe. Retro showdown between Intel and AMD.
You will probably have better memory bandwidth but I think I can hold my own in GPU performance at the very least.
CPU, not so sure. If you get a chance run some benchmarks in AIDA64, I'll post the full benchmark report on my rig later.
