It's the opposite actually, all signs point out to it having more burn-in potential than WRGB OLED (that and the general lack of burn-in warranty)

e22big got a reaction from Andrewtst in LG C3 42" vs Philips OLED808 42" as pc monitor for non-competitive gaming?
I am very sure that they are the same panel (nobody else made a 42 inch 4k OLED ), however, that doesn't mean they will deliver the same experiece. Asus 42 inch OLED use the same panel as LG C2 yet the experiece is a nightmare - at least for a year or so from what I've heard.

LG also enjoy better app support, if you want to install a tool to make your TV wake up and sleep with your PC just like a real monitor, you will find a lot more instructions and option for LG than anything else.

hmn from my experience, 1440p on 4k 27inch still looks a lot better than than 1080p (eventhough they do definitely looks fuzzy and not as sharp as on the native 1440p)

The lack of pixel density due to monitor size is actually more notiecable than fuzz scaling. Also 4k is 'twice' and not '4 times' the pixels of 1080p (they are 2160p)

e22big got a reaction from T184 in Is there any alternative to Logitech G915 TKL?
I ended up with Nuphy Air 75. It's not really competing with G915 when it comes to latency (the input delay is very noticeable coming from 915)  but it's relatively cheap and excellently built. I am willing to compromise a little when I don't have to use a keybaord all the time.

If you can, try going with the V2 version of it. The V1 (which I ended up with) has a critical flaw that is the battery life (so bad that I pretty much considered the RGB unusable.) It's also have some major quality of life improvements that are lack from V1 (i.e. actually have an adjustable stand, V1 has a detachable stand but it's not adjustable in anyway)

I cannot tell, but my LG C9 also behave same, I post before here.

I don' think they use same display, it is very obvious different quality when you compare side by side. I check few shop also same.
I ask one of the Samsung store and the sales person told me they are different.

I cannot find any information it is different but when you go to store compare and you will notice it is obvious different.

So just to share a bit of my experience with an OLED on a tablet. I get my selt Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 just a few week ago, it has an OLED screen which is a huge selling point to me. But just right after I get my own hands with one, I've just realised how underwhelming they are.

Just like their QD-OLED, Samsung tablet OLED lacks the polariser layer which mean just like their TV, black will look very grey in anything but a black out condition. Unlike their TV and monitor, you don't tend to use a tablet in a light control environment (that's kind of the reason you use a tablet), and worse, you also don't tend to view it straight on and the grey look so much worse when the screen sit flat on your lap and taking all the lighting in the world.

Using this OLED during my commute feel like I am using an IPS with the worst backlight bleed possible because not only there's no black anywhere, the black bars also look uneven grey where some area looking darker than others. And it's not just the black bar, a lot of irl object like hair or eyes also look notieably grey. It's way, waaaaay worse than their smartphone. Actually, I think their great IPS from last year might even better than this shitty OLED. It even has black smearing in real life usage, the only real advantage is HDR which is still not super common.

I just don't get why Samsung find it's acceptable to ship an OLED without a polarised layer even on a big mobile devide like this where it seriously impacted the user experience. My bet is it because all of the rushed Youtube review who never test the display image properly and just call it best thing since slice bread.

So yeah, rant over. I wish I know better before getting myself into this. I mean I'll probably get it anyway but at least I'll go at it with a more realistic expectation.

e22big got a reaction from Needfuldoer in I just started a new IT job as a Technology Sales Supervisor and I need help.
Personally, I would start by trying to figure what kind of customer I have.

There are always two type of people who build a PC - people who prioritise price to performance, and people who just want the best of the best of better brand integration of whatever.

I am willing to bet that the vast majority of us is the former, and so I would focus my homework on how to cut corner, rather how to make it run as fast as possible. There are a lot of ways where your customer can save money without losing anything on their tech needs. If they want to game for example, they should absolutely spend as little as possible on the SSD, even something as cheap as DRAM-less SATA would have extremely marginal impact (if any) on their gaming experience (but there's probably no need to go that far anyway, as a lot of entry level NVME is cheap enough to be competitive even to SATA.) Or if they want to game at 4k, they probably don't need a top speed RAM for their use case.

You should also be able to explain the part where they should never skimp on even if it doesn't have a direct impact on performance, PSU for example. Or one that many not have directly impact on the performance but can have a very substantial impact on the user experience like display.

Most people probably don't need your help to recognise that they need a high-end GPU and CPU to have the fastest system possible. So, you should probably focus on the nuance knowledge that aren't super obvious but important to any PC builder.  And please, for f sake, don't spread marketing bullshit that are obviously false (like 1ms LCD monitor)

Dirty Screen Effect is the actual term for this issue, it can't be fixed, just a limitation of the panel technology, the only thing you can do is to do research in advance and pick a monitor with the least DSE reported

Sadly it's probably too late for you now. But it's really not that easy to identify, absolutely any monitor can have DSE from LCD to OLED. Although LCD tends to be a bit worse in that regard.

Subscribe to YouTube premium specifically to avoid advertisements and marketing. Had unsubscribed from the LTT channels long ago because of the aggressive, unnecessary and distasteful marketing strategy. Have never understood why LTT think it's acceptable to constantly peddle their products (merch) at every available opportunity in some pseudo-comedic diatribe, it wasn’t funny the first time!
Understand that advertising/marketing is sometimes a necessary evil, especially as an aid to organisational and channel growth. Perhaps during the recently announced period of self-introspection LTT can re-evaluate the marketing strategy and make it more palatable for the audience.   Are there other members of the community who feel the same way?   Note to Mods: Have tried to avoid overt reference to the current situation. Thought now is a good time to post my frustrations with the channels marketing of merch in an objective manner. Hope this is acceptable.

But the whole Billet Lab incident is very different. Maybe it would have been true as well if he stopped at just the fact that LTT should have tested the Monoblock with a 3090, but the moment he dig into the "drama" aspect that is them losing the Lab prototype, reaching out is 100 percent a requirement because depending on the context involved, the community reaction would have turned out very differently.

Like from this screenshot for example. The narrative around the Billet Lab prototype is that LTT had sold off their only prototype which is crucial to their workflow as a small company and had caused delayed in their development for weeks

But if so what's the meaning of "We originally said you could keep it" in this email? If it's so crucial to you, why did you tell the LTT team that they could keep it in the first place? And once they didn't get Colton's email on the 10th, did they ever contact anyone at LTT back for a follow-up before mentioning that Linus had ghosted them in just the 4 days period? I know an RMA process that took longer than that for sure.

Just to be clear here, I don't doubt the Billet Lab statement. I believe that they are telling the truth but the context around the lost of this prototype also matters,  and at the very least, deserved to be mentioned if nothing else for a completed picture. Whether the conclusion remains the same or not (and who knows how many details are getting lost in the process here.)

And reaching out to their subject when the controversy of the story matters is exactly what the GN did to every of their past report. They've reached out to Artesian Build, to Newegg, to NZXT despite the even more obvious and damning circumstances and the severity of damages. And in every other case, they've followed up and reported the positive finding when the subject of their investigation made a u-turn and fix the problem - why the heck that Linus got just one chance to respond and still getting damned anyway when he immediately promised to fix the issue, unlike Asus, Gigabyte, or Artesian (whom the latter two never even do anything)

This sound like a trap to me the more that I think about it. And not in a good way. Regardless of Linus's narrative, if you treated him like any big company, you (GN) wouldn't have any problem with them as long as they implemented the change necessary to fix the issue. And honestly, for the longest time, I've found trying to create your own narrative and making a major omission to be a major issue with GN report as well (but it tends to be limited to a smaller scale content, pre-built review and such.)

I would say, don't think about it too much. OLED are highly vulnerable to burn-in with a certain workload but it's not that bad and the sign isn't always visible. It will took a while before the burn-in become so bad that you can see it everywhere (and generally that shouldn't come from a game workload but more like productivity where you have to work on it for 8 hours or more everyday)

With regard to Billet and Linus lying thing - I think there's also the matter of the time frame to consider. It has been just 4 days damn it, less than a week after they've lost contact with Colton until GN publishing their video. That's way too early to consider the LMG is intentionally ghosting on you, it could be just like in this case that the email didn't get send or there's some technical issues along the line (and even if there isn't, 4 days maybe long but it isn't that bad when considering the nature of corporate communication.) I wonder if they ever contact Colton or call someone at LTT again once they realised that the window of communication is getting too long.

If GN published a video like a month after they have been ghosted - or maybe even just a couple of week then I might have agreed with their narrative. But as it stand, there's no reason to doubt that Linus wouldn't compensate them for damage, he said he would compensate them for damage, which indicate his intention to follow through with it. So long as he kept his promise, it shouldn't that huge of an issue whether he do it before or after been made aware of the issue. He didn't have any issue with NZXT issue the warranty claim for case catching fire, or Asus changing their term of service to be more explicit about their intention to honour warranty after his video, why has it become a problem with Linus all of the sudden and to leave such a little time gap for them to address the issue?

I dunno, it just doesn't sound right to me. I still give him the benefit of the doubt (it had pushed for a positive change anyway) but I am seriously having my suspicion about Steve's motif the more I think about it.

There are some reporters said they were reaching to him for comment and he said he doesn't see it in his email or Twitter DM and all of the sudden people everywhere started accusing him of lying, theif and all of the nasty stuffs.

I don't usually have sympathy for corporations but I would understand if he wouldn't be in the most stable state of mind these past couple of day (heck, I am worry that he might consider taking the suicide route even, it's looking that bad, just seeing the Tweet gave me a depression)

So yeah, definitely with you. It blew way out of proportion (which IS why I took issues with Steve reporting in this manner, it's just so irresponsible.) Medison is a different story, if accurate (with regard to context, scale and scope) that is not something I could ignore. Work is miserable, I get it, but sexual harassment and workplace bully is other things entirely. But for now, we haven't had the completed picture just yet, so I'll just wait and see how things would turn out.

I usually try and resist my urge to comment or give my thoughts on drama such as this…
But I just couldn’t help it this time around,

TLDR : I think most of this drama is largely blown out of proportion and I don’t see why we should stop watching LTT of unsubbing from floatplane…
First let me get this out of the way , I have been ( and still continue to be ) a very long time fan of the channel. So yeah , I’ll try and look at this in an as unbiased a way as is possible given the circumstances.

from what I’ve been reading it pretty much boils down to 4 main topics of “controversy” atm.
    1.       The accuracy ( or perceived lack thereof )  of the data that is presented in the video’s, that is largely due to the immense pressure on the video production side of things.

sure , if you talk big ( Labs supposedly being better at testing than rivals ) than you had best make sure you can back up what you’re claiming. Here GN made a compelling case where they show us that the data is in fact sometimes faulty, no argument here.

Also employees claiming that they have too little time to make the deadlines for given projects doesn’t give us the best feeling where it comes to accuracy

But as a head of department for a Microsoft partner firm that will remain unnamed, I have to confess that generally in business it is pretty common practice that deadlines tend to be given more weight that being right the first time ( on our side and most if not all customers ) . Am I saying this is good ? Hell no ! Am I saying I understand where this might come from ? yup sure do.

Also given the video that was posted stating that all procedures will be re-evaluated and that production would stop to do this , I beg to ask : what more can we realistically expect?

    2.       The billet labs debacle.

Sure , this was unfortunate , Communication wasn’t great and mistakes were made.
Key take-away for me is : if Billet labs says they see the matter as resolved as far as they are concerned, then I think so should we as the community.

    3.       That criticism ( mostly by GN ) was handled in a let’s call it sub-optimal fashion.

Ok, this one might be a bit sticky , the response was quite emotionally charged and not thought over twice as we say in Belgium.

But I tend to be understanding. Try and look at it from Linus’ point of view , you’re under a considerable amount of stress as it is ( I don’t think the decision to appoint a new CEO was made out of luxury ) and just on the back of your biggest event. And then suddenly someone  with who you have a reasonably good working relationship calls your company out for inaccurate data and bad ethics.

Sure , I can see why your initial response might be a bit miffed , I totally can.
But Sure , in a professional setting the response was let’s again call it sub optimal and too emotionally charged, and in the grand scheme of things he should’ve known better.

    4.       The Madison twitter dump

I’ll be brief on this part… I’ve been a head of department for my firm for a good while now and I’ve seen many employees come and go.

We can’t go and look at the quality of a workspace culture by one point of data. And furthermore all of us weren’t there , so how can we prove the validity of the claims.

sure , she might’ve been under a lot of stress and a colleague might have made a remark that didn’t sit well with her. However I doubt it will have been that bad of a place to work seeing their growth in employees and Glassdoor rating.

This all being said, feel free to call me a fanboy or a shill , but I think most points of criticism are being addressed by the team of LMG and I see no further issue in supporting this channel.

    Peace out,
