  1. One of the games I frequently play with my simulation software that has online multiplay has been having connection and sync issues between players with intel and amd cpus...since it is...well... "legally questionable" I am not going to name names...
  2. Sorry for the late reply every one, I have looked into the suggestions that @jaslion and @filpo suggested, but I am still in consideration for all options. There are some points I feel like I need to add On@jaslion's suggestion of Asus Flow X16 2022:The idea of a flippable notebook is actually really cool, and might actually be quite practical too as it lets me show my screen directly in some group work, but the mention of new 2023 models are not good at cooling worries me while using last year's model RTX3060/3070Tis has me worry on the power of the machine, also, some of the software/simulators I am using are not good with ryzen CPUs On @filpo's suggestions. Other than the same issue with the above-mentioned Ryzen CPU issue I have (but I must say, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G15, holy s**t !!! 40GB DDR5 RAM with a 3080 for only $1750 is hella of a deal!) as I am expecting a longer lifecycle, I would prefer the newest finest of hardware. But still, thanks for the suggestions, the Intels in the list are in my consideration right now. @DripplessNewt, This is actually my main direction right now, to look for a non-gaming laptop with pack-a-punch power. Good to have someone with the same thinking haha! For the Macbooks, it was a great choice when the M1s first came out, but as M2s and now M3s released, they don't seem to be referred less as the "best of laptops" as newer machines come out. Though the design, the weight and the powerfulness are still there, just not as "superior" or "Incomparable" to Windows laptops nowadays I guess. The old MBP that I am using now has water damage on the mousepad from the water drips of my lunchbox and does not respond to clicks. I guess I now have a time limit for replacing it, yet I still haven't made up my mind...
  3. Hi, I know, the title sounds like a dream machine that does not exist, but would still like some recommendations. First, for TL:DRs,here are some points: I have a PC that was built last year with a 13th gen i7 and 4080 Budget for laptop is 3500 USD at tops Both PCs/Macs are okay for me. Screen size preferably more than 14 inches. Not looking for office-use machines, as although I mainly use in office, will be used for attending meetings and courses or even overseas trips from time to time, and would sneak in some gaming time(CS, Apex, etc. and emulators) in between (Preferably)Around 1.57 kg (the weight of my old MBP) (NOT preferred) "gamery" looks (a.k.a. RGBs, HUGE "asses", and sharp shapes) Although I won't say I am expecting a 10-year longevity that my current MBP has, at least I can use it for Youtube+Work side-by-side for more than 5 years, hopefully Other than gaming, I may need to do some video- and photo-editing, rarely but would like to have the ability to do that if needed I should be qualified for educational programmes and discounts Here is my story: The laptop I have been using for the past nearly 10 years is a 14-inch Macbook Pro mid-2014 (Intel i5) (hence the size preference, it is too small for me now) that I would Bootcamp into Windows (You may ask "Why? It was not that powerful! And the price-performance is not the best!" And the answer is that this was my present from my parents as a university gift, and Macbooks were HOT among cool kids) and play games like CS:GO and worked fine. However Windows corrupted big time and I lost all my working papers 5 years ago and I never got the effort to make it work again since, Been using MacOS with low-mid workloads as a study/ office machine Again, it is not a powerful machine. 2 years into using it, playing CSGO on it barely stayed at 30 fps and was not playable. And at the time now, playing youtube videos and use Google Doc side-by-side will make it freeze every now and then, and the video will downgrade itself to 360/480p Worse, every single software takes up MINUTES to even start up. Now I am working, and prefer to continue using my own machine rather than the company-issued i5 lenovos, I would like to buy a powerful machine, overspec even better. I can go for m2 or m3 MBPs, but since the possibility of BootCamp into windows is gone, and gaming in them is not really a solid thing yet... I am okay with both windows and macs. Thanks for reading til now, and for the recommendations! Edit: 1. 32GB RAM or above 2. Full HDMI output needed as I sometimes need to plug in projectors
  4. CPU: i7-8700k CPU Cooler: MSi 360mm AIO water cooler Motherboard: MSi Z370 Tomahawk SSD: Crucial P1 m.2 1TB + Samsung PM961 256GB HDD: WD Green 1TB 5400RPM + WD Ultrastar 6TB 7200RPM RAM: T.Force 16GB (2x 8GB) 2666MHz GPU: GIGABYTE RTX3060 Gaming OC 12G PSU: Antec NX 650W Planning to install my old MSi GTX 1060 6GB armor for a little bit more mining power so as to mine for a bit when I am off to work. At the same time, there is a discount for Antec HCG 850W for about 115USD, and a Seasonic GX1000 for 155USD, According to the PSU tier spreadsheet, Antec HCG 850W is a A-tier if 850W is enough for gaming and mining for my machine, I think I am going for it. But the question is, how much power does my machine need? As some power supply calculator left 3060 not an option, I am kinda confused... Thanks a lot!

  6. Okay, I understand this can be quite spicy to talk about graphics card, especially for mining... But let's saayyy... The current setup of mine with a i7-8700K, 16GB RAM and a MSi 1060 Armor 6GB was built in 2018 where the first(?) mining craze was happening, and the graphics card is now barely handling medium/high settings for Apex Legends where occasional frame drops happens here and there. And because I am running a dual monitor setup, whenever I drag a window to another monitor with a Chrome tab playing Youtube videos on one of the monitors, "bullet time" would happen where there is an extreme delay for the dragging movement. So I have been looking for a graphics card upgrade since last September, but I was just freshly graduated and could not find a job to support that idea. From where I am, graphics cards are scarce like rest of the world and the price of buying the cards solely is insane, and distributors have been packaging their RTX 30s with other products such as gaming monitors or full pre-builts, as limited bundles, i.e. 10 bundles at a time, which usually sells out in minutes to hours. At the beginning of this month, I finally managed to purchase one of the bundles with a GIGABYTE G32QC A 31.5 inch curved 165Hz monitor and a GIGABYTE RTX 3060 Gaming OC 12GB for about 940USD. While my room is not big enough for an extra monitor and I am trying to sell the monitor so as to "reimburse" the money spent for the bundle, or specifically, the 3060. And now I am left with a question, sure I am going to game on the 3060, but what can I do with my 3-year-old 1060? Watching the previous heated video of Linus talking about Nicehash, although I have no experience in mining cryptos, I have been wondering if I can use the 1060 putting into the same setup for mining so as to gain some value back, Here are my doubts: 1. Is it going to work with 2 graphics card, especially when I am running a 650w power supply? 2. From what I have understood, even if it works, it is most likely that running a 3060 with a 1060 at the same time, there is going to be no improvement in performance comparing to running the 3060 only, am I correct? 3. Even if it works, is it possible to play games on one card on one monitor while mining of the another card and monitor? If that involves an upgrade for my PSU, how many watts of PSU will I need? 4. (It is going to be spicy...) If I am going to work at my office and leave my PC to mining fully while I am not at home, will the dual card setup give any more mining power/benefits comparing running 3060 only in the cost of using more power? Thank you very much.
  7. I see...yea..that worries me as I live in a block apartment and the noise would be quite serious if someone redecorate...I guess I might need to stick with closed headset then, thanks for clarifying!
  8. So...As a person with a bigger head width, plus the careless using habits of mine, I have broken a couple of headsets or headphones over the years. The one I used before my current headset, an Acoustic Research S5, the arm of the headset cracked in 4 months of usage and finally snapped into two parts after using it for a year. Then, thinking of my slightly big head, I chose the HyperX Cloud II under a shopkeeper's recommendation. With the price tag of approximately 120usd 4 years ago, it is a really good gaming headset that definitely worthed the money for it is a great headset with pretty good sound quality, comfortability and build quality. Without using the emulated 7.1 function, I can easily distinguish the nearby players' direction in games like CS:GO and Apex Legends, which is a big tick from me. The 2-meter cord although it always strangles with the armrest of my chair, it ables me to move around my room without taking the headset off. After using the for approximately 4 years, although it still sounds perfect, the exterior and the leather on the ear and head pads are falling off in small pieces and making a mess in my room. Years of usage also means that the sponges of the different parts have soaked enough dirt, sweat and other stuff that makes the headset smells, and the rubber material started to melt off and making it sticky as well, overall it is still usable, but not really hygienic. Few days ago, one of the dirty earpads felt off with the substitute pads are nowhere to be found, I am thinking of buying a new one. Moreover, with the leathered sponges that makes the headset really comfortable and gives good soundproofing for surrounding noise, although it is perfect when it is winter here, it is quite uncomfortable for using it in the humid summer, plus the above hygienic problem, it is really a sweaty mess right now... Even more, although with the metal frame of the headset, it has great flexibility to fit my head, build quality that can sustain my usage, the headset in times, seems still slightly too tight that it would cause headache after consecutive hours of gaming in a few occasions. I am looking for recommendations of a gaming headset that has a similar excellent sound quality, clarity, surrounding effect as the Cloud II, comes with a mic that sounds acceptable (just like the cloud II). It does not matter whether it is wireless or not, but it is most preferable that it is compatible with both PC and PS4 gaming as I sometimes use the squad chat function in PS4 when playing Monster Hunter: World. I have also heard of open/close headsets(?), thinking the Cloud II has a quite good soundproofing from the outside noise, and I can hear my own heartbeats when wearing it without playing any sound, I am also wondering what "open headsets" can offer, for that though, I would prefer noise-canceling in the cost of a slightly sweaty and stuffed experience. The budget is, again, around 100 usd- 130usd at most. Brands do not matter. Many thanks!! Edit: I guess I would stick with a closed headset, still looking for a recommendation! Cheers!
