Jared O got a reaction from -rascal- in No signal, no picture....scared....
This used to be a post “spreading the good news” that nothing was broken because apparently for some reason, everything worked fine in the shop I took my PC to. He sent me a video via text that he took without my knowledge showing the card working. But it doesn’t actually work. Sometimes it does for about as long as it does in his video, so maybe he just got lucky, but the end result is always the same. It can’t be my power cable because it’s the brand new one that came with the new PSU.....and it can’t be the outlet nor my surge protector because I tried using just the outlet without the protector /and/ tried every single outlet that way in this entire house. The entire house didn’t just lose a certain amount of power. I guarantee there is a short in my motherboard, so I’m just going to go ahead with the purchase of the Aorus Master and update you upon the result once I do finally get it
At this point it’s either the motherboard or the graphics card, and I seriously doubt it’s my card when it has varying functionality. If the card was dead, it would probably just be completely dead, or the result would probably at least be exactly the same every time

lol... OOF. well yeah, the thing is the wrong cables can actually get fried long term, this is specifically for anything with power, so also stuff like SATA...
well, you're welcome, and practice makes perfect (it really does lol) 😃

It's honestly unlikely that there's a huge issue, especially if a decent shop checked it out. I used to do that kind of work, I've seen a bunch of weird crap happen that can freak you out, but everything is probably OK. Don't worry too much, we'll figure it out

I feel embarrassed to say that it was as easy as plugging it into the other DisplayPort...but it seems that I’m back

Jared O reacted to -rascal- in Ok so now I know something actually is wrong with my PC
No, 400-series boards use a different socket, with different number of pins -- LGA 1200.
The i9-9900K uses socket LGA 1151 (v2).
Yes, but you need to be specific on what is "OLD."
Z370 motherboards released with 8th Gen CPUs (e.g. i7-8700K).
The i7-8700K can also work on Z390 motherboards, which replaced Z370 when 9th Gen CPUs released.
Likewise, you can also put a i9-9900K into a Z370 motherboard, after a BIOS update.
i7-8700K / i9-9900K both use the LGA 1151 (v2) socket.
For an example, I'm using a i7-8086K with a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master motherboard.

Jared O got a reaction from ki8aras in low RTX FPS?
I am too but I figured out my issue - my GPU overclock didn’t actually save for some reason lol. When that’s successfully enabled this issue goes away almost entirely - I’m assuming what is pushing his system a little further though is the possible fact that he has a 2080 ti that can overclock better than mine, because mine is the pretty crappy EVGA black which is the cheapest one you can possibly get

Jared O got a reaction from aDoomGuy in The newest Windows 10 update won’t install
Turns out the fix was extremely easy! It just took tons of trial and error to resort to this, but all I had to do was download the iso directly from their website /onto my jailbroken iPhone/, then simply move the file to a folder that is viewable from my computer without having to worry about how to get SSH working again without WiFi. (I somehow got full-access raw file system SSH to work a couple months ago but apparently looking into it again would have just been an unnecessary waste of time anyways.)
and then simply mounted the iso and installed from there on my PC
At least now I know how to do all of these workarounds
Thank fuck for my jailbreak lol

Can someone please link me to the iso of 1909? I can’t seem to find it, and the status of it in the Windows updater has just been stuck at Status: Downloading - 100%” for the past four hours.
I don’t understand how a $3,500 system can run into such huge bugs...........
or is there any way to fix it other than restarting the updater (and possibly deleting my download in the process) and having to manually install this update which I’ve also never done before?

make that +1200 MHz for it not to happen anymore since it actually started to happen again at +1250 on the memory, but at least I only had to go down 50
and yeah, it's always amazing when you finally figure out how to fix something permanently. for example, it took me months to figure out how to get my ram stable at 4133, up from being stuck at 3600 on this expensive af kit, and I even have decent timings by being able to go down to CL 18 on a 19 rated kit - possibly even 17 but I just want to be safe. for the longest time I didn't think /lowering/ the voltage down from 1.5 to 1.45 would actually fix the bsod problems, especially when it worked on a much lower speed at 3600 with 1.5 volts, and everyone online says 1.5 is safe. trial and error, trial and error.
I had no idea it would be this much work figuring things out, but hey at least now for good I know crap tons more about how to get a pc set up

I was starting to hate this card lmao, but at least now we know that even this one specifically is actually great if you know how to use them. I'm just new to the whole PC scene

oh wow, I think you may be right. Yeah, I had to click the gear in order to get that box around the option. I'll go test it out real quick, and will be very surprised and happy if something this minuscule could fix what has been such a major problem for me, haha
