  1. Fair enough. I went with a 2080 super for my build anyway. Screw the budget. Side note, cheers for all your help with my stupid questions here....
  2. You said "Often" ! Anyway, some AIB cards will outperform the FE cards due to better heatsinks and fans, so longer time at higher boost speeds.
  3. Yeah, but for 200 quid more here in the UK it's not worth it for alot of people.
  4. Nvidia bin the so that the FE always have the best die.
  5. If you have a second monitor you can set the one you DON'T game on to be your main display and then notifications etc will appear on there, not over you game. Or look in google chrome settings and block all notifications.
  6. yeah, that's what I'm going to try. Just having the RGB one plugged in to save the USB header for smart device. I'm going for a red theme so the motherboard LED will be red, so everything being red is good!
  7. the wraith has 3 cables. one pre attached - power for fan. It has one USB, and one RGB. My question was about do I need both USB and RGB plugged in. I believe I can control the RGB using motherboard software using just the RGB one, keeping the USB headers for front IO and one for smart device. Otherwise, I'd need the USB to be plugged in to, in which case I wouldn't have enough USB headers for all 3.
  8. That'd suck. Google thinks the rainbow ring will always stay on even if I don't plug the USB header in, which would be fine by me. I'll try it when I go back to building. Edit - someone also thought if the mobo is a 4 pin then I can control the colours in BIOS/motherboard software. I'd just set it to all red anyway, but that'd be cool too
  9. makes sense. Surely it'll just do a random colour effect if the RGB isn't told what to do?
  10. Well a PCIe internal usb header can be 40 quid, so even the NZXT internal USB hub is cheaper at 18. OR I could just forego RGB control on the fan? How do I control the fan anyway? Will I have to use the BIOS to set up a fan curve for the wraith or will I need software?
  11. Okay, say I bought PCIe expansion card would I be able to use my PCIe wifi adapter too? How would I "run it on the chipsetlanes"? Computer noob here sorry
  12. okay, I've already plugged that in. Will that let me control the RGB on the fan or the fan speeds or both?
  13. I'm half way through building a new PC and I've come across a slight issue. My motherboard has 2 USB headers, and I need to plug in - 1 CPU fan USB (Wraith Prism), 1 front USB, and the V2 Smart device of my H510i. Clearly theres an issue where I need 3 USB headers and I've only got 2. What do I do? I want to use the smart device for sure. If I don't plug in the fan USB, will I lose control of the RGB and the CPU fan entirely? Or should I just skip having a front USB port? I've looked on amazon and an NZXT usb header HUB, for 3 USB headers is about 20 quid. I'll buy one, but not if there isn't an easier/cheaper option. Cheers
  14. I think I'll get the 550 watt modular PSU. I won't be doing much gaming seeing as I've got an important school year coming up so the PSU won't be stressed for more than 2-3 hours at a time, if that. It'll help with cable management too.
  15. Well if the PC is gonna draw 450W that's still 100W that the PSU can lose? What is redundancy? Do you just mean as above, where the power draw decreases?
  16. If I were to get the rm550x, what would happen differently? Would it still work fine? I don't plan on overclocking at all. Does running a PSU at over 80% load mean it wears out quicker?
  17. I don't really have enough for a rm650x but I could get a tm series 650w, but that won't be fully modular and has less 80+ efficiency. What would you suggest? PC Part Picker said the build would be just under 400W but they underestimated the CPU power draw I think.
  18. So I recently learned I can get my PC for much cheaper, meaning I can pick a 2080 super over a 2070 super. So, will a rm550x be enough power for a ryzen 7 3700x with a gigabyte 2080 super? Nvidia website says 650W but that seems overkill? I'm also having a 1tb HDD, 240gb NVME m.2 SSD and 16gb or vengeance pro RAM, if that makes any difference. Cheers.
  19. Would a corsair rm550x be a good buy for a ryzen 7 3700x and 2070 super or should i get a tx650m?
  20. Hi. I'm planning on building a PC and I want to have 2 SSDs, one for OS and maybe 1 games and one SSD for other "stuff" So one SSD would be a Corsair CSSD F240GBMP510 which I'd put my OS on, and then a 500gb bog standard from WD Blue, 2.5". Does this motherboard, the MSI B450... (Title) have support for both of these SSDs? It wouldn't throttle the speed of the NVME at all if I put it in the right place? Thanks
  21. Hi. Been looking around online and lots of reviews on the H500/H500i say the temps are best in the stock configuration with 2 exhaust fans, with the gpu temps being fine and the cpu running kinda hot. So will a H500i with stock fans in stock config be too hot to use a ryzen 7 3700x with stock cooler and an rtx 2070 super? Will I need to liquid cool the cpu to keep it at a reasonable temperature or will it be fine? Thanks
  22. MSI B450 Gaming pro carbon ac is about $120 or so. Some people, and I stress some people have had issues updating the BIOS using BIOS flash back but the recent BIOS updates by MSI have apparently fixed alot of the previous issues. If it doesn't work you could just send it back and get another. I'm going to get one to go with a ryzen 7 3700x too.
