Folding@home is a network of volunteer computers distributed around the world that aims to perform biomedical research with the single intent of helping to further understand and develop cures for a range of diseases such as; Alzheimer's, cancer, and Parkinson's. The exact research that is done is simulating the 'folding' of proteins in the body, this is important because the function of a protein id directly related to its physical shape. And this, when the protein is created in the body it needs to reshuffle its shape to get into the correct structure to perform its task. Many illnesses can be linked to faulty proteins in the body such as many cancers and neurological issues, along with a wide number of other general health concerns. This network if compared with the TOP500 list of supercomputers would fall into 2nd, Folding@home is one of the world's fastest computing systems, with a speed of approximately 98.7petaFLOPS. It would be 50% faster than the fastest x86 computer currently listed on the top500.

    COVID-19
But this is not why we are here, we are here to join the legion of other folders from around the globe who have taken up the fight against COVID-19.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common across the world.  These viruses can cause mild symptoms ranging from a fever and cough to more serious conditions such as severe pneumonia, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
In December 2019, a new strain of coronavirus (COVID-19) was first identified in Wuhan City, China.  This virus has now spread to other countries.  The UK Chief Medical Officers have declared the risk to the public to be moderate. But the risk to individuals remains low.

    PASSKEYS! (they're really important)

Don't forget to get yourself a passkey from the link below to ensure that you hit the points requirement, the passkey is a feature that was added a while ago to the Folding Client that helps to authenticate each user on the network, an added bonus of this is the fact that it allows you to qualify for QRB(Quick Return Bonus) Points, QRBs are extra points you earn for submitting work units more quickly, such as if you have faster hardware or let the client fold full time, rather than on idle. QRB credit is awarded after 10 WUs have been submitted. You can get your passkey from the link below.

This is just a PSA for the new guys here, the folding team is a small close knit community, so here's a few things I'd like you all to keep in mind. It doesn't hurt to say thank you, if someone has genuinely helped you out don't forget to drop a reaction on their posts, help others where ever you can and finally we are a team first and always.

Check your stats out here! Bare in mind it can take some time for your first WUs to appear so leave it a day or two.

3200 CL16 kits are "lootbox bin" - can be made of any memory ICs currently in the market: Hynix, Micron, and Samsung, and the chips have different secondary and tertiary timings, if you'll mix such kits, you'll have to set it manually according to a weaker kit.
Btw, Corsair shows which chips they use by the ver. x.xx on the memory sticker, just make sure that your kits will have the same ver. and it'll be fine.

But the drivers man, the drivers. Most of the standard Catalyst installers didn't even recognize the card, was stuck on some hotfixed version specially made for AGP cards of that that type.

I couldn't bring myself to spend close to $25 on an cable management solution so I came up with my own and I think it's honestly a lot better!

    All that's needed is:
a roll of Velcro Hook and Loop a heavy stapler like the T-50 I have:

    1. Cut a piece of the velcro enough to wrap all your wires, plus a bit extra and staple it under the desk

    2. Wrap up your wires! That's it!

The benefits of this is that it looks a lot cleaner (in my opinion), it's modular to fit your needs and is a TON cheaper than any other product you can buy.

Is it a good cooler? Yes, for an air cooler it's definitely up there as one of the best. But, 'Is it the best cooling system?' No, that title would go to liquid nitrogen or Helium, it really depends on how far you're willing to push it. However, for the average consumer, liquid cooling would offer better performance given a decently sized radiator, good static pressure fans and solid contact material on the block. What case is it that you're planning to get? That'll help when narrowing down an AIO. From the sound of it, you won't be doing a custom loop? Right?

everettrules reacted to oskarha in How to: LGA 775 BSEL Mod (Overclocking with tape!)
Hello and welcome to my guide for performing the BSEL mod on your LGA 775 CPU. In this guide, I will focus on the easiest BSEL mod, the tape mod for 1066 MHz FSB CPUs.

    Disclaimer:
Overclocking is never a guarantee, and it does not always work, for example, my Q6700 was not stable after I had performed the BSEL mod in my Dell OptiPlex 755.
A mod like this will most likely void your warranty, but this is LGA 775 we are talking about, so you probably don’t have that anyway.
I am not responsible for any damage to you/your equipment, proceed at your own risk.

A quick word on LGA 775 overclocking
With LGA 775 CPUs, we overclock by increasing the Front Side Bus (FSB). The front side bus is quad pumped; therefore, a 266 MHz is 1066 MHz effective. The frequency of a LGA 775 CPU is determined by its FSB speed multiplied by its multiplier.
FSB x Multiplier = Clock Speed
    Example (Core 2 Duo E6600/Core 2 Quad Q6600):
    266.66 MHz x 9 = 2400 MHz
For more details on LGA 775 overclocking, see this great guide by @harrynowl:

With the BSEL mod, we can raise the FSB of a 1066MHz CPU to 1333MHz, resulting in a 25% increase in clock speed.
    Example (Core 2 Duo E6600/Core 2 Quad Q6600):
    Before: 266.66 MHz x 9 = 2400 MHz
    After:    333.33 MHz x 9 = 3000 MHz

All we need to do this is a tiny piece of tape!
Simply place a piece of tape above this pin on your 1066 FSB LGA 775 CPU:

Steps for how to perform the mod can be found at 0:38 in my video.
Materials needed (not really, but i reccomend having all this to make things easy):
Tape Scissors 1066MHz FSB CPU Something pointy Tweezers Patience
If you want to see benchmarks for the performance gains, see 1:20 in the video.

    Specs of the benchmarking rig:
    MSI GTX 770 Gaming OC
    ASUS P5Q Deluxe (P45)
    8GB (4x2GB) DDR2 800MHz CL6
    Kingston UV400 240GB (OS)
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 750GB (Games)

Like seriously how stupid does blizzard think we are that we would believe that they banned him because they care so much about other people's feelings. No this is clearly about money and it's ok blizzard we didn't expect any different from you just don't insult our intelligence and pretend that it's something else. And I don't want to hear blizzard ever brag about how progressive and diverse they are again because this clearly shows that when it costs them something to stand up for marginalized people they won't do it. If you are just progressive when it's easy then you are not really progressive.

Windows 10 licenses are tied to the motherboard so no issues there if you need to reinstall.  Even if you move to another machine, you can just do the free upgrade from a 7 or 8.1 key again.

As for the drive, the fact you can't get into the bios is odd to me.  That sounds like a separate issue and perhaps one with the motherboard.

Seriously speaking though, all you can really do is check for physical damage or signs of wear & tear, and ensure the previous owner has unregistered the PS4 from their account. Beyond that, it's hard to say if it's choked with pet fur or water damaged (assuming it turns on) unless the seller is willing to let you open it up.
