  1. I have a 1060 that seems to be on it's last legs and I was wondering if a EVGA SC1080 from a relative would be a good choice for less then 200 bucks I have a Ryzen 7 2700x so I'm not worried about bottlenecking. advice much appreciated! I'm thinking about dropping the 1060 into an old pc and use it for streaming until it stops working.
  2. True. I do stream but I have a pc just for that
  3. Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: fortnite warzone beamng.drive forza horizon 4. And I like to run bench test for no reason Other details gigabyte b450m dsh3(will be upgrading since I'm going itx) Ryzen 7 2700x(overdrive enabled) 16 gigabytes corsair vengeance rgb pro 3200 c16 Evga Gtx 1060 3gb oc hitting 2ghz core and 4700 memory, evga 650 watt psu I'm leaning towards the gpu side since I have a gtx 1060. But I'm wondering if I'll be cpu bottlenecked. Any suggestions appreciated!
  4. Well boys... I’ve made it this far. Here’s the thing. I was curious. And let’s be honest you guys are probably interested in what I’m doing too. so this system in pretty old at about 6 years. Specs AMD Phenom B50 X4 3.2ghz 8gigs of Adata 1600 gigabyte ga-78mlt and a shitty ass power supply(prob gonna kill me) i overclocked the living hell out of this cpu and almost got 4ghz out of it. And to my surprise it ran at 4ghz... for like 5 minutes. Found that 3.89 was stable. And somehow the temps were ok at 80C. Did Geek bench and found it scored pretty high. I’ll update when I do further stress test. (And don’t worry I have fire extinguisher on hand)
  5. Sorry about the sloppyness, I just threw this together. I’ve been thinking about this ever since I got my Ryzen 7 2700x for an insane 150 bucks off amazon. But I was considering a Ryzen 5 3600 which goes for almost 200. I was wondering if I had made the right choice in going with the R7 2700X or did I miss out? I play a lot of games but also like running a lot of stress tests and I have a tendency to push things. The R7 has 8 cores 16 threads as opposed the the 6-core 12 thread R5. I choose the R7 2700X for the fact that I knew I could run programs like chrome, Spotify, and have room for the dreaded windows updates, and not feel a slow down in the game, but would the R5 done it better? And if I wanted to stream, the 2700x kinda Made more sense, but would the R5 do it better? Did I mess up? Please let me know!
  6. Sorry if I go off topic. I start thinking off the top of my head sometimes. And I was bored... anyways Enjoy! This 2009 Alienware M17 R1 is now 11 years old, it was my dads old workstation for about 8 years before handed to my brother, then me. It was great on windows 7, in fact, amazing on windows 7! It did exactly what i needed it too and ran every program i needed despite its age. But I didn’t have windows 10, which was a bummer to me. So I decided to upgrade to windows 10, not knowing the issues so bad, that it ended up never starting up. I didn’t have a copy of windows 7 at this time so I was stuck. So I ended up leaving the computer to collect dust while I bought a super cheap Lenovo and used that for awhile. I used the Lenovo for about 2 years before I got a 6 year old AMD system and bought a 100 gtx 1060. Once I put those together I decided to see if I could reinstall a newer version of windows 10 on the Alienware. And would you know it. It started up! But now super slow. After that I left it sitting for awhile longer figuring out what I could do next. Then after Christmas I finally built my new PC, a ryzen. 7 2700x built with the same 100 dollar GTX 1060. Then I had an idea! I decided why not compare these systems. See the difference in power and speed after 11 years. Why not? The result we’re actually not what I was expecting. I thought the Alienware would hold up a bit better, but I shouldn’t be expecting much out of an 11 year old system running windows 10. Now, The first test was geekbench 5. the Ryzen 7 2700x had a multi core score of 7182 the Alienware M17... it scored 478? the next test: Fortnite(supports directX 10) the 1060 scored 400FPS at lowest settings(no suprise here) the Alienware has 2 GPU’s in in but Fortnite doesn’t support Crossfire so we’re stuck with one. it got about 22fps. Not even that, it barely loaded on the game and kept crashing the system. test 3: BeamNG.Drive Ryzen 7 2700x and 1060: scored 250fps average drop to about 107. and I’m happy to report that the Alienware was able to run this game and with crossfire as well. The FPS at low settings was an average of 55! Though when getting to high speeds it would drop to 27. But who cares? It’s 11years old! Final Test: CS:GO Ryzen 7 2700X GTX 1060 score: 300FPS averaged and drop to 250 once in a while. The Alienware scores an average of 60 but dropped to 20 pretty frequently. what do you guys think? Should I do more? Let me know! Specs Of the Alienware AlienwareCorp M17 R1 Intel core 2 Quad Q9000 8gb DDR3 1333mhz 2x Radeon HD 3870 x2(Crossfire) 500gb HHD my Ryzen build specs are in my bio, if your curious of those too.
  7. Ultra ATX tower(yes I know it’s horrible?) Gigabyte B450M DS3H Ryzen 7 2700x 16 Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3000(overclocked to 3200) EVGA GeForce GTX 1060(Overclocked) 91+ core and +390 clocked memory 256gb crucial Sata SSD WD Green 1TB EVGA 650W what do you think??
  8. Oh I know. The fact is CAN IT. This isn’t my main pc so I’d like to see how far I can push it
  9. The specs are Intel core 2 Quad q9000 8gigs of DDR3 1333 2 AMD Radeon HD 3870x2(CROSSFIRE) 820gb across 2 HHD’s Let know if I should do it. I will try and post updates if anyone is interested. I should also say that the GPU’s are DirectX 10 so if you guys can recommend any game that can support that old of directX that be great.
  10. Here are the specs. Intel Core 2 Quad q9000 8gb DDR3 1333 2 AMD Radeon HD 3870 x2(with crossfire) combined 820gb across 2 HHD’s Windows 7 Home what do you guys think?? as of my question who remembers it?
  11. Any time I put load on my cpu my cursor lags behind and slowly will catch back up, and it’s only the mouse cursor, the OS stays smooth as butter, but when I load a game, get in a match mouse glitches and lags with no FPS drop, but when I hook up a controller, smooth as butter!? What could be causing this?? It’s really annoying considering I like to listen to Spotify while playing games, and having a mouse cursor act stupid is just plain annoying, please help if you can! Btw in running Windows 10 home 1903, I rushed this so sorry for typos UPDATE:turns out it I just needed to update to the newest version of windows 10 1903, it was windows the whole time. And not only that my system had a substantial increase in speed thanks to the new update
  12. This is only a temporary system and I will be upgrading, the power supply will be just fine. It puts out plenty of punch for what I need, and the overall power usage is around 390 to 400, and the power supply is very solid. I feel completely comfortable with my psu. And if it makes you feel better, this pc never runs unless I’m using it, I never leave it on
  13. I’ve put quite a bit of thermal paste and blowing a big fan into it (i usually use for cooling me down) it has kept my cpu at a pretty respectable 170 Fahrenheit during gaming, also I did start experiencing problems at the 4GHz range and only feel safe with 3.9GHz. My motherboard also contains a failsafe so I can’t blow up my system(it’s practically impossible) I’ve stressed the system for a couple hours straight with MSI kombuster, everything was stable and noticed nothing but speed increase! And thank you, I think it’s a peace of art as well!
