  1. Not sure about the pricing where you are, but in Europe the Exos drives tend to be cheaper then the Ironwolves. Exos are enterprise drives with 5 year warranty, they are loud though compared to the Ironwolves. Never really figured out why they are cheaper or if there's a downside on using Exos drives other then the noise and maybe a slightly higher power usage.
  2. 3. The MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX has support for 3rd gen Ryzen out of the box. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX/Specification I would also go for an m.2 nvme ssd, price difference with regular sata ssd isn't that big. And unless you really care for the RGB on the ram you're probably better of getting a 3200 or 3600 kit for the same price without RGB.
  4. I would go for an international version (preferably Europe) of Scrapyard Wars, but not in a mainly English speaking country. Pairing up Linus and Luke up with someone like Roman (Der8auer), Igor (Igor's Lab) or maybe even Greg (Science Studio) depending on how well he speaks German. Another option could be in Shenzhen, with Dennis and Andy. Biggest problem with this is probably being allowed to record everything. Some subtitles would be required for this. As for main challenges I would see if you could try to set to rules to allow more overclocking, maybe by not letting the cooling count into the budget (keeping in mind that the system has to be able to run stable without intervention, so no LN2 or stuff like icebaths). Or maybe go for a server/ws build, not having any gaming benchmarks.
  5. AMD has said they would support socket AM4 upto 2020, after that I honestly doubt they'll stick to it as they were already running into limitations for Zen 2. For DDR5 support they will very likely have to change the socket. Also Intel isn't dead yet, they might come out with something that's better at what you want to do. Right now if you just do gaming and maybe some handbrake stuff then Intel is still a viable option. So it's not very likely imo that you'll be able to upgrade to a new cpu in 3 years and not have to swap out your mobo. Though by then you would probably build a whole new pc with DDR5, much faster storage, a new video card and what not ... who knows what the future will bring. If you're sticking with a Ryzen 3600 (no need to get the x) I really don't think you need a $330 mobo, a decent B450 board will do just fine. For less then half you have an MSI PERFORMANCE GAMING B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC AM4 AMD B450 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard. (which might already be more then you need) If you can currently sell your cpu/ram/mobo and get a somewhat decent price for it or you have some other use for it then it might be worth the upgrade, if not I probably wouldn't bother.
  6. Not sure what SSD that is, but the Asrock B450m Pro4 has issues with a Corsair MP510 (480) and a Crucial P1. The Corsair I know because I tried, the Crucial was a post on Asrock's forums. Samsung evo 960 and 970 plus work in it, haven't really tried any other except maybe an optane drive that worked. Edit: I tried a Corsair MP510 960 and it worked, the 480 still doesn't ... same firmware.
  7. I'd go for something like this: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($199.00 @ B&H) Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.99 @ Amazon) Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($69.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Corsair MP510 960 GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($123.89 @ Amazon) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6 GB VENTUS XS OC Video Card ($254.99 @ Newegg) Case: Cooler Master MB600L ODD ATX Mid Tower Case ($49.99 @ Newegg Business) Power Supply: SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($82.89 @ OutletPC) Total: $895.74 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-07-27 16:59 EDT-0400 I just included the case you selected, but considering it has only 1 fan you might want to add at least 1 more. Also an aftermarket cooler isn't a bad idea, which doesn't have to be an expensive one (Cooler Master 212 evo or something). I have no experience with the mobo, but from what I read the last few weeks the MSI B450 boards were best picks. The MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon would be my first pick due to the better audio chip and the intel lan, but that won't fit the budget ($45 more expensive then the Tomahawk). You could go with the Intel SSD you added instead of the much faster Corsair and get this board maybe, but it's still going to be slightly over $900. Depending on what monitor you're planning to use you could go with another video card.
  8. You could always try some demo versions first and you get a free game on the epic store each week (though nothing that really requires all that power). There's weekly Uplay/steam sales. There's also sites like Instant Gaming that offer gamekeys way cheaper then what they are selling for on steam. If you only have the money to buy 1 I wouldn't just go out and buy a game like shadow of the tomb raider because it's used a lot in reviews, you better pick one that you would like to play. Ashes of the Singularity as mentioned above might be a good pick if you like rts games, it's also dirt cheap atm. (€3.99 steam, €1.47 IG). Doom could also work, €6.59 on steam with the Quakecon sale. Are you sure that cpu you RMA'd was defective and you didn't just need a bios update considering you're using a B450 board?
  9. A Samsung 960evo works as does a 32gb optane drive in the M.2 Ultra slot of the Asrock and the Corsair also works in my Gigabyte Z370 board, but the Corsair still doesn't show up on the Asrock B450. Bios issue with the Phison controller (12.2 firmware) of the Corsair?
  10. I haven't figured out yet what the issue is. I still need to check with another nvme ssd, preferably one that's in the supported list on Asrock's site. The only one I have of those is the 950pro in this system and I don't really feel like pulling it out just yet to test.
  11. I'm having a simular issue with a Corsair MP510 (480gb) when put in an Asrock B450M-Pro4 mobo with a Ryzen 5 2400G, the ssd isn't found. The drive itself isn't faulty as I have tried it in another system (Asrock B250 something) and it worked just fine. So don't just assume it's DOA.
