  1. Hi , I'm planning to build a new/used PC. I apologize if I do any mistakes also , I'm still learning how to speak english. 1. Budget & Location I've planned to build a PC with 480€ , so a low price in mind (Monitor Included), I live in France 2. Aim Mainly play AAA games at 1080p60 In Ultra/High/Medium. Open a lot of tabs in Chrome, use the Office suite , doing some editing on After Effects (not my principal use so I guess this will be enough) 3. Monitors One 27" 1080p60 monitor, maybe a second one if I have enough later on. 4. Peripherals I'll buy new peripherals later on, beginning with a Logitech G403 5. Why are you upgrading? I'm upgrading because my main PC is still running on a Core 2 Quad and a GT 1030 and it's showing its weaknesses a lot. So , to begin, I'll provide links of any component I am referring to so it can be easier for you to keep track : First off, the motherboard (I already have it) it's a Gigabyte GA-H81M-S2V , it's kind of an odd mATX motherboard since it looks more like a mITX one, anyway it does what it has been made for. https://www.ebay.fr/itm/283656836091 Next , the CPU , I opted for a Xeon E3-1240v3 since it's the best price to performance CPU I could find for my motherboard (it's an i7 4770 but without iGPU if i remember correclty) (72€ at the moment of writing this , it was lower 2 days ago at 69€) : https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/32954104630.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.a70d5274XaKFH7&algo_pvid=1f07b3ce-d077-47c3-b188-d4d0d1b92c1a&algo_expid=1f07b3ce-d077-47c3-b188-d4d0d1b92c1a-1&btsid=4bde6bb7-3ef9-4001-9cd7-591ff23db363&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_4,searchweb201603_52 Since we have to cool this CPU , which is by the way, non overclockable , I opted for an Arctic Alpine 12 CO. It's basically an Intel stock cooler but on steroids (13€ at the moment of writing this) : https://www.amazon.fr/ARCTIC-Alpine-Refroidisseur-Compatibilité-Fonctionnement/dp/B07HJ3DNX2/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_fr_FR=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&keywords=arctic+alpine+12+co&qid=1574107528&s=computers&sr=1-1 Then for the RAM , it's kind of an odd choice but I went with knockoff HyperX DDR3 (2x8 @ 1666MHz so I can have 16GB) those are basically Micron / SK Hynix in house stuff with a heatsink slapped on them for extra look (47€ the pair) : https://www.ebay.fr/itm/For-8GB-Kingston-HyperX-PC3-12800-DDR3-1600MHz-240Pin-CL11-DIMM-Desktop-Memory/183082131560?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D7b25379cad7b430387a3df0d02aadac5%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D223581697042%26itm%3D183082131560%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851 For the GPU , I've chosen to buy it on my local craigslist , I either take an RX 580 (4 or 8G since I only will be gaming at 1080p60) or a GTX 1060 6GB (because the 3GB ver. is bad) (140€ max) Next , we need to power that up , I've picked a Thermaltake Smart RGB 500W (the cheapest but still with an 80+ certification and with 2 PCIe connectors) (41€) : https://www.amazon.fr/Smart-RGB-500W-80-Plus/dp/B0744PFBFZ/ref=pd_sbs_147_32?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0744PFBFZ&pd_rd_r=4258f9ec-0569-4b2f-82bc-85fd87bc523f&pd_rd_w=bpVOK&pd_rd_wg=ttaGl&pf_rd_p=26d54ac2-ee81-4c62-8302-1e18ced12245&pf_rd_r=AK24KPJ5R1ADSAMB3Q14&refRID=AK24KPJ5R1ADSAMB3Q14&th=1 Then , I already have a 1TB HDD that will do the job at storing my games, but I also need an SSD to get fast boot times, I settled on the cheapest one that had decent speeds and DRAM Cache (17€): https://www.amazon.fr/ASENNO-SATAIII-interne-ordinateur-portable/dp/B07VGGBDDV/ref=pd_sbs_147_4/262-9608953-5209001?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07VGGBDDV&pd_rd_r=2823dd6e-48d8-46e3-a235-11e671b0308d&pd_rd_w=3cQfX&pd_rd_wg=3CgEb&pf_rd_p=26d54ac2-ee81-4c62-8302-1e18ced12245&pf_rd_r=KXRH7GBWEPH7V1BHS475&refRID=KXRH7GBWEPH7V1BHS475&th=1#customerReviews I need a new monitor , so I'm searching on the Amazon Warehouse deals for a 27 inch 1080p60 screen that's in good condition (100€ max) or else I'll be getting a 24 inch Acer one (still IPS but has freesync): https://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/ecrans-informatiques/acer-ha240yawi-ecran-23-8-dalle-ips-4ms-h/f-10732-umqw0eea01.html?idOffre=-1&cid=search_pla&cm_mmc=PLA!COR!INF!CD!2046589638!m102400825_pUMQW0EEA01_&gclid=CjwKCAiA5JnuBRA-EiwA-0ggPWVYVrJsAHjZMXx4zVyKMAPBZES266vfeGaoMAXxkVFs2Ampsp1QBRoCVLQQAvD_BwE#faqs And to top it off , also to house all the components I have , I'll buy a Silverstone-PS15. Imo it's the best mATX case under 50€ and it'll look great with some RGB fans I'll buy later on (47€) : https://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/composants-informatiques/silverstone-sst-ps15b-g-boitier-d-ordinateur-pre/f-1071303-auc4710007226957.html?idOffre=375505443&cid=search_pla&cm_mmc=PLA!NXC!INF!MP!1442605123!m113087730_pAUC4710007226957-375505443_&gclid=CjwKCAiA_MPuBRB5EiwAHTTvMZZt-maUpaBvqeuppjJ0PsxEq_NHYYIc4J_lnLuTmSa0s6yYJ_S6AxoC-S4QAvD_BwE In total , this build costs 477€ (if I get a 140€ GPU , but usually , the RX 580 8GB costs around 130€ used shipped to your door) Thanks for reading this , if i should change some components , let me know but I have this fixed budget , I cannot pay more than the 480€ limit.
  2. Alright , that's nice to see ! So this means they will work nicely together in dual channel because of the same timings , frequency etc... Thank you for the help
  3. Thank you for the fast answer , and since that day does it still work correctly ? If that's the case I'm going to take them because heatsinks make the overall build look better when you've got a tempered glass case , I'm going to see if they don't have them in white or black at a similar price , would look even better.
  4. Hi , I've found these DDR3 "HyperX" sticks on eBay , thought like "ok they seem legit" and then I've found that they sold HyperX heatsinks for RAM on Amazon for like 3 bucks the unit. Now that I've thought, they are obviously fake and it's just some cheapo chinese DDR3 with fake HyperX heatsinks (they've also slapped on fake stickers) Now, I'm just asking if this is reliable enough to use it in my PC. If not, where can I find reliable RAM nearing this price (or a little bit more , want to buy 30€ max for one 8GB stick) Again , I apologize for my bad english , I'm French. https://www.ebay.fr/itm/For-8GB-Kingston-HyperX-PC3-12800-DDR3-1600MHz-240Pin-CL11-DIMM-Desktop-Memory/183082131560?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D7b25379cad7b430387a3df0d02aadac5%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D223581697042%26itm%3D183082131560%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
  5. SOLVED! I had to go into the Device Manager , and delete the drivers of the SD Reader , it had 2 instances under 2 different sections , just check the name , then you put in your SD card, and you go into Action -> Search for hardware changes, and it'll show up
  6. Well , hello , I have a small tower with an SD card reader , and I want to get it working. The only issues I encountered is that it worked under Windows 10 1903 but , when I rolled back because I had issues, it has stopped working. I couldn't get it working on a Lubuntu Live USB too. Could you please help me because I use it for my SBCs
  7. It could, but that's weird , because i have an old 775 socket PC that supports DDR3 and I had to use low density memory because I ran into issues. I'm just going to buy second hand RAM on my local , baguette Craigslist called Leboncoin
  8. Thanks for the tip but , where i live i don't know people with AM3 boards , I live in a small town and I'm notorious for being the tech savvy of that place so .. I'll just return it that's not a problem. I'll buy true ram the next time I want to purchase something
  9. I mean , why the fuck would you brand RAM as AMD or Intel compatible , prob got scammed , going to return it , it'll be a pain in the ass , at least it wasn't expensive
  10. Hello, So i bought this Kllisre ram stick , it's specs are "PC3-10600U-CL9 8GB DDR3 1333" because I thought it would work on my computer and branding it as "AMD only ram" is dumb. But when i put it inside my machine , it just doesn't boot. So , my motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-H81M-S2V, and the CPU is a G3260 (was making previsions about upgrading the hardware so I began with the RAM. I tried putting the old ram sticks inside and fiddling with the bios to make the frequencies go along with this stick of ram but it didn't work.
  11. I'll take a look at that when I'll have the money.
  12. Reset your CMOS using either a button / pins / removing the cell from your motherboard. EDIT: called the cmos reset pins "dipswitches" , I've done a "The Verge" right here
  13. Alright but as I said , with deals you can get an EVGA power supply for cheap , yet they are still rated 80+ Bronze
  14. Hi ! I'm new to this forum , I watched Linus' videos back when he was in his old HQ (in the kitchen) and I'm also interested to computers and high-tech a lot. Sorry if my english is bad , I come from France , and we are known for butchering Shakespeare's language. You can call me Sharqo , I'm 16 years old and I study in High School , I'm specialized in electronics and IT. What got me here is the fact that the community is fulled of PC enthusiasts , so I could get tips on how to build my PC etc... Let me settle the context : So I have to work / wait for the school's money (idk how to call it , it's like you get a little money in 1 year to help you) and I'd like to build a good PC as cheap as possible. During this time I got a PC with a G3260 for 85€ (with the case and everything but i could still resell it's old parts when I'm done upgrading it) I've bought cheap DDR3 (an 8GB ram stick i got for 14,5€ on AliExpress (yes i know it might be bad etc...) ) and next I thought about buying a Core i5 equivalent , the Xeon E3-1225v3 , which is 60€ on AliExpress again. I saw it was good enough to run Metro Exodus with an RX 480 so why not. Then , for the PSU part , I plan to buy some EVGA or Antec power supply with an 80+ Cert. that i could found for cheap with the holiday bargains (we have a site called Dealabs that references the biggest deals you can find on french websites) I also plan to buy a used RX 480 and give it a good cleaning when I get it (clean the cooler and applying new thermal paste on the die) because they are cheap (100€ on our local Craigslist) So that's the necessary to build a gaming pc but I plan on changing the 500G drive I grabbed from a dead surveillance system (the drive was brand new) and I plan to add an SSD drive and change the case because this is the cheapest thing you can find (when the hard drive vibrates a little bit you can hear it and also the CPU Cooler is noisy like the stock intel ones so that's annoying too). Uh and also while saving up i think i could afford a 144Hz monitor (They are like 168€ for the cheapest ViewSonic 1080p one) because I often play on competitive FPSes. Well , in total i think the setup should cost max 500€ : -CPU : 60€ -Motherboard ,case , old CPU : 85€ -Power Supply , 30 to 40€ -RAM : 15€ -Graphics Card : 100€ -Hard Drive (have one in stock) FREE -Mouse + Keyboard + Headset : already have them , I don't need mechanical kbs but I may get another Logitech G mouse -SSD : 240GB with promos , 30-40€ -Case : 40€ -Monitor : 168-200€ What do you think about that ? Do I have something to change here. Thank you in advance for reading this , I know it was a long post but , here you have it
