  1. If you are buying new, consider the i7 11700. It's like 190 bucks from Best Buy right now (Not the best deal in 2024 but better than the used choices on ebay). As for the PSU, upgrade it in my opinion. Don't limit your upgrade options in the future because you PSU can't supply enough wattage.
  2. It depends on how you look at it and what you are doing. Post the other parts you are planning to upgrade to find out if your 450 watt psu will be fine.
  3. Other than the questionable front intake of your case, it sounds like going to dual monitors may be a worth it. Even a cheap extra display can help if you need to do more work more efficiently.
  4. Check the sold prices on used parts on ebay. That may help a little bit when figuring out the value. Try a little haggling if you can.
  5. Cannot view the links. You need to fix that.
  6. I pick option 4 and 7. An extra monitor can be handy with work and multitasking, trust me I have dual monitor and never want to go back to a one monitor setup.
  7. Is it still under warranty? And what country?
  8. Buy the rest of the properties and build a trailer park empire, lol.
  9. Bingo! Just don't. Maxed out AA and higher resolution scaling will tank your fps(although you can do higher resolution scaling instead of more AA). Also don't worry about not getting 100% gpu utilization in GTA 5. You can overclock you cpu for a bit extra performance.
  10. Another tech-tuber giving bad advice.

I do realize the video is from awhile ago.

Zack seems like a smart person, but I guess everyone has given bad advice at least once in their career.

Well they (the creator) also has a business selling PCs so not surprised.

  11. Get 32GB of RAM. I know people will disagree, but trust me, it's the year 2024 not 2017.
  12. Are you running into limitations because you don't have enough RAM? If no, you are fine. If yes, buy more RAM.
  13. Check air flow in the case and ramp up the fan speed. Simple.
  14. Why are you changing the thermal pads?
  15. Ok, so... I see what you are saying. I'm a bit out of date, and so is the info I have used over time. Well... oof! Time flies, oof on me.
  16. First off your SSD uses system RAM for caching. Second I'll trust the Tech Tip Guy here in the video. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ybIXsrLCgdM Although I don't don't trust the tech tip guy for everything.
  17. Always load the default settings first and maybe with just the boot drive only too.
  18. Sounds like a stability issue. Too bad you sold your working 9700K, which could be used to help solve the issue if there is a chance the CPU may be the problem. With the bios settings on default, try underclocking the cpu and see if that helps, or try turning off turbo boost or whatever it's called and run the cpu at it's base frequency. The cpu may be nfg.
  19. The secret solution they don't want you to know is in the spoiler below.
  20. You do know a gaming PC is used for other tasks too? Cacheless SSD's wear out faster, don't bother trying to save a few bucks on a cachleless OS drive that may have a bunch of other things written and rewritten on it.
  21. Your GPU is 10000000% overheating. Bad thermal paste, bad cooler contact or both could be the issue.
  22. It depends on the people. If it works fine for you, enjoy it.
  23. Go for an SSD with a DRAM cache. The Crucial P5 plus nvme I believe has a DRAM cache and is like under $80 for 1TB of capacity. Also, go for 32GB of RAM, modern gamers do a bit more than just game these days with lots of apps open while gaming. Also, modded games can use up a lot of memory, and yes modded Minecraft too. I think most of the replies will recommend 32GB of RAM anyway.
