Duski got a reaction from dalekphalm in iPhone XR STILL the best selling phone of 2019
Why? I don't own an Iphone but I like the fact that they support their phones for like 3 or 4 years with MAJOR software upgrades, unlike Samsung that only gives you 1 or 2 major upgrades in terms of software (S8 which was released in 2017 will not get A10). Iphones are also easy to use and it's perfect for people who don't want customization and rooting etc. I can't think of any company beside Google which supports their phones for a good amount of years with Android upgrades.
In the end people buy whatever they like more, and those who do not care about specs are looking at the color and the brand

Gaming & PC's are a non productive passion to have, so even if i were to agree, i cannot.. i am grateful with what comes out and grateful that i live in enough comfort and in a place in the world where i can enjoy things.

The issue with folk like yourself is entitlement, oh you think consoles hold them back? it's an ego thing, you spent more so automatically think you are owed something.

Gamers are gamers, console are not holding anything back, especially with the direction they are going next gen.

Apple does research.  Everyone else just copies Apple because it’s cheaper than doing research.  The result is that they often copy things without knowing what they do, which is sometimes nothing.

Anyone who is against(hates) consoles, isn't a true gamer, they are mostly just elitists who want attention on the internet, Thats like being against intel or nvidia or amd for no reason other then people on the internet told you one is better. Go where the games you like are not what some silly subreddit says. I personally have hooked up to my tv an SNES, WII U, PS2, PS4 and still got my gaming pc. Why limit yourself? In the future if Microsoft has their way, their consoles will become pointless if you own a PC given they plan to make all their games work on both platforms. Personally I have used consoles most my life. Plus they offer a simplicity that PC does not and will not ever have, they just work. No driver issues, hardware/software incompatibilities, just install and play. My biggest reason for loving PC is modding. But lets be real, few games truly support it to any worth while degree to confidently say its better on PC because of it. And Graphically, these days the difference between consoles and pc with the exception of nintendos consoles, is very minimal in most cases

Two years ago I had an old-ish PC that couldn't keep up with the newer games and no money to upgrade (I would have needed to change everything: psu, mobo, ram, cpu etc) so I bought a PS4 for like 300€; it was the best decision I've ever made. I had no worries regarding whether a game would run or not, games looked great, I had and still do have access to many great exclusives like Uncharted, The Last of Us, Days gone, there's only one store etc. The only downside was the paid multiplayer which is not that bad after all, you can get some great free games depending on the month, but I eventually stopped paying when I bought my current PC. And the truth is you can't build a PC that will last you 6 years or more with only 300€. People are saying games are expensive on consoles, but there are a lot of sales and you can also buy them second hand, which is great imo.

Is it because of those tweets where developers said that instead of buying off G2A you'd be better pirating? Is kinda funny how some tweets changed the opinion of so many people. Every time I read an article about G2A people are getting mad in the comments ''you don't support the developers'', ''you're an asshole for buying stolen keys'', ''you're a thief'' etc etc. I personally bought a lots of keys from G2A and Kinguin and never had a problem. It's also funny how people don't realize that countries in Eastern Europe and other parts of the world have average salaries lower than 400€. How the hell are they supposed to buy a 30-60€ game?

I'm really fed up with Epic Store and their ways of bribing developers. They left Steam with no real games, all I'm seeing lately are shitty 2d / platformer / japanese / anime games, while Epic got Borderlands 3, Watch Dogs Legion, Control, The Outer Worlds and so on. I can count on one hand the upcoming AAA games coming to Steam, which is really sad. I really wanted to play Borderlands 3 on my PC but looks like I'll have to enjoy it on my PS4..

that is what every online modder says, sure

i as a pc technician, as a old gamer and as a user see such comments and first laugh, then get upset because people actually believe all this crap, pc superior, console inferior

yeah, sure, compare pc to console is compare a banana with a watermelon

comments like these just fuel a stupid hate against each platform that have developed separatedly because each one tries to achieve different things but people just compare them just because game developers didnt wanted to leave in the dark a section of the market, a market that has required so much adaptation to become what is today

see consoles and pc as enemies, one inferior, other superior only tells me that the people doing that doesnt comprehend every detail involved on each side to make things work, if you dont understand what a console is and what offers with what conditions and at what price you cant compare it to anything else because there is nothing to compare

the idea of upgrade and progress, so few people really do it, and the existence of a console for more than 5 years proves that a large amount of the market is ok with this fact, because all you want to do is play a game, not hear people whine for details that in the end depend in cost, benefits and simplicity of each platform when offered to each person

each person has right to like one or other platform, or like both as i do, but no platform is perfect and paint one or the other as perfect is really stupid

no platform that exists is perfect, nor close to be perfect

all you can aim is to convenience on your circumstances and accept the cost or limitations that come with your decisions

@goto10 You can't get banned for modding if you're playing singleplayer. And mods in GTA V are pretty easy to install, take a look at LSPD:FR and see how many great things it adds
And than we have Euro Truck Simulator 2, that game would be dead by now without mod support and without ProMods which basically adds the whole Europe.

A major argument with PC gaming is that "you can upgrade whenever you want" and "backwards compatibility is a thing."

I'm here to argue that... they're soft pros at best.

True, you can upgrade almost anything you want on a PC assuming it's a desktop tower using standard form factor parts. This is less true if you have a laptop which a lot of people have. This is less true with system builders who might use non-standard or at the least, non-popular standards like Dell or HP. And most damningly, your window to upgrade to something "meaningful" really depends. If you bought a Core i7-3770K years ago, it struggles at times, especially in high frame-rate scenarios, to keep up with something more modern like an i7-8700K. It gets worse if you want to stream your gaming sessions. Oh but you can up--... oh wait you can't. The i7-3770K was the best processor for its platform. Getting anything newer means upgrading the CPU, motherboard, and RAM.

So really, the whole "you can upgrade your PC" thing only really works if you started off with a potato to begin with. And you are making the money to afford upgrades in the future. But even then, by the time you do want to upgrade, your platform has likely been succeeded by several generations. It's also easy to compare modern hardware to older systems and claiming your PC is better. But I would've really liked to see a PC built in 2013 for $400 handily beat a PS4 while retaining all of the features it can do. Including that thing PC gamers conveniently forget: optical media playback.

And backwards compatibility? Maybe towards the last 10 years or so of gaming. I mean, that's still pretty good, but anything older and you increasingly get into the "maybe" to "nope" zone. DRM platforms that were relied on went away or are blacklisted by Windows' Smart Screen. APIs were used that have been unsupported for years. And some games just worked in ways that weren't recommended on Windows that causes things to break on something more modern. It's more surprising to me to find a game that works more or less fine on Windows 10 when it was designed for Windows XP or earlier.

I actually don't rely on Microsoft attempts at backwards compatibility because if Raymond Chen's blog and book has taught me anything, many Windows app programmers would rather have taken shortcuts and used undocumented behavior than stick to what Microsoft said how you should program an app for Windows. It's gotten to a point where I built a computer with more or less "period correct" hardware for those times if I really wanted to run a game from the Windows 98/early XP era (DOSBox only really works for, surprise surprise, games built for DOS and VM support for older OSes tends to be "it runs but that's about it"). I'd rather have a game run on something for the platform in which it was designed than hope the compatibility kludges Microsoft did work. It has only really been a decade or so since software development practices for Windows and APIs have settled down to the point where compatibility is much less of an issue.

The Xbox One X has something akin to a RX 580 in the APU.

I also doubt you're throwing in a UHD Blu-Ray. Also if you're using used parts to build the PC, then no, the comparison can't be used.
