  1. Thanks guys. we did end up going with a 720 thanks for the suggestion. Works wonders. Bit overkill haha. Then again his internet is overkill. haha
  2. Budget (including currency): Open source Country: Australia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Websites Hey guys. I've just bought a 7049A-T with all hardware components and 4x 6TB Seagate Xeon HDD. I'm looking to setup a server for a website SAAS I want to get up and running in my spare time as a hobby to begin. Don't really want to rely on AWS given all the bad press of AWS stealing shit or have to rely on a particular proprietary software to get stuff done. Really want to support an open source community and eventually help contribute code/moneys in the future when I get some. I'm looking for something scalable. It basically will need to be able to eventually have multiple locations and maybe multiple websites/domains linking to it. Hopefully in the near future I will buy a few more boxes and stick them in another country. I have been looking into Openstack & cloudstack. Is this the right thing to combine all servers togeather. open to hear everyone's suggestions to make sure im picking the right thing. Also would love to hear who you think has the best community. I have experience building home PC's and raids inc with linux but servers and especially server raids across multiple locations are a whole new ball game so if anyone has suggestion or videos on where to start learning with something like this also open to that. Cheers, Matt
  3. fyi your better sticking with the Intel reliability. If your doing alot of video and photo processing for output the quadro is the only way to go, if your doing general work a consumer like rtx is good to. i would, however, switch to the pro range of ssd with a faster read write speed. the rest looks fairly decent. little overkill but still good. especially the cpu value for money and the fact that your memory is 3200 when it's only really effective on gaming not to mention it doesnt even improve the specs that much with that extra hz rate. Finally i see your in aus take a look at channel and get them to build. you will save a bit on money. scorptec, msy, computer alliance, umart are ones that come to mind.
  4. Hey Guys, My friend has just upgraded all of his PC's in an internet cafe which I helped build.(loving the RTX Range) He also now has gigabit from the isp finally with static IP addresses. He's let me use his location as a test site for any tech I want to run. I've always wanted to test my own webserver but after dealing with gaming builds looking at servers makes my head numb. Can anyone assist and recommend the build I should use, even if its just the chipset. I notice that more recent CPU's tend to have fewer cores in the lower price range. Is that because the cache size is more effective for a server than the number of cores. The goal i want to test is to see how many concurrent users i can reach. Im going to stick a basic WordPress website on the system then run a whole bunch of requests from an external pc via a domain i will link to it to see how much load/users it can handle. The build needs to: -Be 1k-1.5k max -Include CPU,ECC Ram & Motherboard - Also im looking at raid 10 so it needs to support the number of storage slots Note:I have all other gear like ssd's and will get a custom server rack etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards, Matt
