Hmm... Well, I play Mindustry. It's a game where you command a builder to build your mining machines, factories, power plants, liquid pumps and turrets, build a series of conveyor, piping and electrical pylon to feed your infrastructure and defend your base from ongoing enemy waves. There's Campaign as well as free play options, a map editor to create your own maps, and there's multi-player options.

Oh, you can search for Mindustry and download for PC (I think from Itch.io, it's technically free), or you can get it from Steam (requires you to pay for the game, but saves you from manually updating if they release new builds).

Chiyawa got a reaction from SimplyChunk in What's the reasoning behind this
Well, there's a lot of reason:

Having OS and game library in different drive has its perks:
    - If OS drive failed or the OS drive corrupted, your game library drive is unaffected, unless if your PC infected by virus. This can save you a lot of time from re-download your game.
    - You can extract your game library drive and put it on other PC, and it should works (depending on game client, but I know EA App outright refuse to acknowledge the existing game files and force you to re-download everything).
    - Although not proven, but having a separate game library drive can improve loading time. If you share the drive, many of the time the drive have to pause loading your game for the OS to write data to the drive, which lead to some loss of time, since OS swap their RAM data back and forth between page file (which is a temporary storage space on the drive assigned by the OS to handle more programs and data if your RAM capacity is almost filled up).
    - A speedy SSD for OS to make your system response faster, but can be expensive if you want to store a lot of games. HDD offer exorbitant of capacity at a fraction of SSD cost, so you can save quite a lot there. A few months back, a 4TB HDD cost almost the same as 1TB SSD (be it SATA or NVMe). Now 4TB HDD cost the same as 1.25TB SSD. With modern games now can occupy 100GB of your disk space, you'll really need a big capacity drive.

Agree. But for me, I usually offer half of my spoil to my sister. She has the best of the best usually while I get her stuff once she grew tired of it, so in the long run I would get the stuff in the end. Good old times.

Now that she is working, she usually return the favour by giving me gifts even when I don't request it. 3 or 4 years ago She bought me a Nintendo Switch while I get her iPhone 12. To be fair, she paid half of the iPhone 12 and helps paying the telecom bill for 6 months. She even gets me Pokemon Brilliant Diamond recently.

I don't think you technically owe her anything, but seeing as you have benefited from another family member being generous to you and your sister did not, you could show her some of the same generosity and offer her a 100 or so.

These situations are rarely about the money but about the perception of fairness,  from your sisters point of view you got $500 plus a good enough phone that you don't have to buy one, While she got $500 only.   If there is nothing else to take into account (other money/things being lent, spent or gifted or needed) and I were in your shoes I'd offer her something to help get her a better phone.  Happy/supportive siblings make life a lot easier when things go bad.

Chiyawa got a reaction from mononymous in is usb wifi adapter good for gaming
Short answer: No, with an asterisk.
Long answer: Wi-Fi is a complicated matter. Done right and you should have no issue, saving you the hassle of dragging the Ethernet cable from your switch or router to your PC and you can just connect from anywhere. But, to achieve this is far more difficult. Also, that doesn't include if there's problem between your device, as sometimes, your PC might refuse to connect.

Wi-Fi is pretty much way convenient if your signal is good, but ideally you should not have any obstruction between your wireless access point and your antenna. If your PC is located in your bedroom and your switch is at your living room, You might get a good coverage, but if there are too many interference of the signal such as signal reflected by wall, you'll have a hard time troubleshooting your Wi-Fi because there can be errors communicating (checksum error, data drop).

However, we all can't judge because we don't know your environment. So unfortunately, you have to check and see if your connection is stable enough. And even if it is stable, whether your ping is good or bad will be another factor. For my case:

I use my mobile phone hotspot, so my PC is connected to it using Wi-Fi. My phone is very close to my PC, so the Wi-Fi signal I get is very good. I play Genshin Impact, and since I'm in Malaysia, I play using Asia Server. My ping is about 174ms average. My house is landed property and usually there are not many devices in my area (including my neighbour) using Wi-Fi, so there are virtually no signal congestion or Wi-Fi devices fighting for bandwidths. But, when I visit at my sister's house in her condominium, I always get signal drop even my PC is just a few feet from her wireless access point. When I check, there are about 60 Wi-Fi enabled devices in range and about 14 SSID detected. So, there are a lot of interference and my connection is not stable, even using Wi-Fi AC or Wi-Fi AX, same result happens.

That's true. Though it can be cause by thermal shock, which the silicon all of a sudden gets too hot (we're talking from a low temperature to a very high temperature in a very short time), like when you pour boiling water into a glass of ice. If that's the case, the GPU might not have enough time to react. Still, this scenario is very unlikely, but it could happen if over-volted to the max.

Ah, I see. I always thought Direct 3D and Direct X are different. But performance wise, I think those who only utilise Direct 3D perform sluggish than those who utilise Direct X. Maybe it was just me, maybe my past self was not that proficient about those 'new' technology.

Chiyawa reacted to LAwLz in Can anyone explain how I lost?
    This is not really correct.
DirectX is a collection of various APIs, it is not a single thing.
Direct3D has "existed since XP" the same way DirectX has existed since XP, because they are the same thing. DirectX 9 was the latest version in Windows XP, hence why Direct3D 9 was part of XP.

DirectX was just a name for these various APIs that used to all be named "Direct ___".
Instead of having to say "Direct3D for graphics, DirectSound for audio and DirectPlay for the networking" they just said "DirectX", with the X being a stand in for 3D, Sound and Play, for example.

D3D11 means Direct3D 11, which is the part of DirectX 11 that handles 3D graphics.

OP if you want to know how you could "lose" then it's most likely because your computer isn't better than your friend's at every single task.
It seems like for this particular benchmark, using those particular settings, your friend's PC might be faster. That doesn't make the benchmark bad or invalid. It just doesn't reflect the expected performance of games released today. It reflects performance for games released around ~2011.
If you want a benchmark that might more accurately reflect performance in modern games you should run Unigine Superposition.

D3D11 is an old engine so your new RX 7900 XT(X) may not run it very well. Not many modern game uses D3D11 now. Also note that D3D11 is Direct 3d, not Direct X, and it exist since Windows XP era if I'm not mistaken (I know Windows XP uses Direct 3D version 9).

Direct X, especially Direct X 12.1, should have significant improvement, as the card was built with Direct x12 in mind.

Well, for productivity, see if you can get Vega 56 or 64. They are still capable card for many of workstation load and a capable gaming GPU at 1080p. I'm using one and it still serves me well until today. Although it is old in terms of technology, but if you're like me using Blender 3D render software and produce video in 1080p using H.264, this card is still relevant.

So far what I use it for:
    - Blender (need to install plugin from AMD website
    - Cyberlink Power Director 15 (H.264 encode)

Games I played (UWFHD, 2560x1080, with power limit 50%, VRAM at 1100MHz and GPU clock set to default):
    - Genshin Impact (all ultra settings, 60fps)
    - Anno 2205 (medium to high setting, got about 45fps average)
    - Need for Speed Most Wanted, Critereon Games (60 fps, all high, no MSAA or any AA)
    - Civilization V (all high, get about 90+ frame)
    - Assassin's Creed Unity (close to 75 fps all the time, all high settings with any AA off)
    - Cyberpunk (I don't play much, but it's only 40fps with everything set to low back in early 2021. Not sure about now, though)
    - Spyro Reignited Trilogy (close to 125 fps at 1920x1080)
    - Crysis 3, original (all high settings, 80fps average, but a lot of dipping at certain scene)
    - FarCry 3, when it still works (all high setting, over 100fps)

Hmm... Well, nVidia is a little sketchy, I mean, with recent post that they 'undercut' their AIB, it's pretty much hard to say.

But let's see how AMD turns out and thought about it from there. AMD are quite aggressive with their performance and they might be more ideal choice if the price is right, which is always the case, problem is previously, their offering couldn't match nVidia high-end cards, but now the tide has turn. For me, I would sit back and watch how the market sways.

Eh, what do those bureaucrats care? They pass this bill because they want to make calls when they're on flight. Even if the airline will charge them, it's not like they have to pay with their pocket money, right?

But, I do think that the airplane mode is a thing of the past. Last time, since our phone frequency may interfere with speakers, it's dangerous. Now, since we use a better frequency like 4G VoLTE, there are no interference observe because we use a different frequency that don't interfere with cockpit instruments. So I guess we should revise this rule and probably readjust. Still, to be on the safe side, eliminating all electronic interference during flight is probably still a valid concern.
