Also depends on the charger and phone. It may be 20W but it could be that it's only rated for 3.5A for the wiring, so if true type c: it could do 5v 3.5A 17.5W or 9v 2.22A 20W or 12v 1.65A 20W.

Charleymuteland reacted to OhioYJ in Question about different types of chargers.
More amps / watts / volts does mean quicker charging IF the device is designed to handle it. Chargers do not force feed current (amps). They will only provide what the device asks for. So you can buy a charger that can output 4.0 amps at 5 volts, (20 watts), however if the device only "wants"  1 amp it will charge at 5 watts ( 1 amp x 5 volts = 5 watts).

You are correct that some technologies are unique to specific brands. It's probably easier if you ask for recommendations for a chargers based on your device and what you are trying to achieve.

Personally I still prefer to slow charge all my devices.

I dont follow.any particular brand, but there are two bunches. Name brands like Thermaltake Thermalright Gelid etc, and who-are-you brands that are less famous than even those 3.

If you have to add heatsinks, you need thermal tape or thermal adhesive to stick them on because there wouldnt be screw holes to keep them in place.

No surprise then, it is one of those "how cheap can we make it" kind of product.

You should still repaste since stock.paste are never that good and you got this card used so it might even need cleaning. At that point you could inspect the card to see if there's space to add your own memory heatsink or if thermal pads can help memory make contact with the heatsink (not just the fin stack, you need a larger flat plate for the pads to work) to reduce their temperature.

Depends on the card, it's riding on the allowed limit for GDDR6 or 6X. Normal behavior for a cheaped out card design but not ideal

This seems to be good for your needs and says it supports 4K 60. I have never heard of this brand, but the reviews seem good and since it’s amazon, returns are pretty easy.

A 40ft cable should be fine. This is the first one I found so there is likely a better cable/deal if you look, but this should work. 40ft hdmi with 4K 60 support from a pretty good brand (monoprice).

It shouldn't be much of a problem... cuz u aren't gonna do gaming it won't be an issue... just use a hdmi 2.0 of a reputable brand and all should go fine.

Hdmi 2.0 can handle 4K 60fps and hdmi is generally good for up to 50ft. So a 25ft hdmi 2 cable should be good for your use case.

Charleymuteland reacted to mariushm in First Budget server. Dual 2660 or x5660
I guess it would depend on which dell server .... but the actual brand (dell, supermicro, whatever) is not relevant, the cpu is... dell doesn't add anything fancy to the table to make a server special in some way.

Anandtech benchmarks processors quite well, and they have the results publicly listed. Here's the 1600 vs e5-1280 link : CPU 2019 Benchmarks - Compare Products on AnandTech
You can select from dozens of cpus to compare against ryzen 1600 and others in the series, just select from drop down list and then click on View Comparison, or select a particular test you're interested in from the left side..

Servers aren't particularly better at multithreading compared to regular desktops - there's no special sauce... servers have benefits in the sense that they can be placed in racks, they're in standardized units to fit in racks, they have remote administration... hardware wise the only differences would be support for ECC memory (but a lot of AM4 motherboards support ECC) and maybe the server boards having 10g ethernet and/or sas/scsi controllers. Oh yeah, you may get dual socket servers but it doesn't make a server better for multithreading ex 2 10 core intel processors vs a 12 core 3900x ... 3900x would probably be better because there's latency communicating between cpu sockets, there's cache misses and lots of issues when dealing with two cpus.  A single cpu makes more sense for lots of scenarios.

Yeah, i'd say neither. You'll have a noisy and power hungry machine.
Get a cheap 60$ A320 motherboard (or spend more on a b450 board) and a used Ryzen 1400 or better (to have hyperthreading enabled for a total of 8 cores) and a couple sticks of ram and you're in business.
Get 2600/3100/3300x if you want new.  2200g would also work, and you get integrated graphics with it.
3000g is cheap and with integrated graphics, but it's only 2 cores... if you're spending money aim for 4 cores or higher.

don't use userbenchmark, its very bad.

Those numbers seem all wrong, the 2660 is a newer faster chip, with more features.

Also id really try to go ryen for this, much lower power, newer features, and probably a better bet for a home server. It will be cheaper in the power savings(those servers can easily use 200+w

Great 1440p gamer, but specced more for workload than build 2:
3900X will decimate all in workload processing, and is competitive with the top chips in gaming as well Dark Rock Pro 4 is about the best air cooler on the market. Nearly silent, even at load, and a nice sleek black look. 32GB of that 3600mhz RAM that Zen 2 craves. The Ripjaws are pretty overclockable if you wanted to tighten up the CL timings as you get more comfortable. Blazing fast Evo Plus NVMe will assist in your workload computing. 3TB HDD for all the other stuff. You could also grab something like a 660p or Crucial P1 in a 2TB version for a bit of a savings. Very solid 3 fan model of the 2080 Super, factory OCed. This will game VERY well on your 1440p monitor. Very nice modular PSU for a great price All black build in the sexy and very nice Meshify C. I included a couple extra matching case fans to supplement the ones included.

A bit slower RAM for a good savings. Monster GPU. A bit lighter on the workload capability, and about a 10-20% FPS improvement depending on the game.
3700X is a great performer at a solid price. Loses some productivity on the 3900X, but games comparably. 32GB 3200mhz RAM that can certainly be overclocked to something close to 3600mhz. (May be a good option in the previous build for the savings, if you're interested in overclocking it.) Huge savings on the 1TB 660p NVMe. Not as fast or as sturdy as the 970 Evo Plus, but a good option for the price. Could also look at a P1. Very solid RTX 2080Ti. This is currently the top of the pile for GPUs.  No further changes, again solid components in a sleek all black build. I would personally take option one. (I might grab the RAM and the 660p from option 2 for a savings. You could easily put these savings into perhaps a higher tier MOBO if you so chose. Or keep it in your pocket. Gaming X has been a solid enough option in the past.)
The 2080 Super is a very good option for how much less it costs than its bigger brother, and the 3900X is the top of the pile. The differences between the GPUs would be more noticeable at like 4K ULTRA gaming than at 1440p.
I could easily throw together a full RGB version of either if that interests you more. I liked the all black look myself.
