    Hey everyone,

I wonder if someone else is having that problem.

For the charity livestream I signed up for whatnot. Besides the fact, that everything on that service is as sketchy as it can be, everything there is half-baked at best - which resulted in me immediately removing/deleting my account.

So - here's the Problems I have from that excurse.

    A) They still send me login confirmation mails/SMS
will block them after they replayed to my mail I sent them about Problem B - no biggie, just waste of energy.

    B) They seem to have shared my Number with a Spammer
The day after the Stream I started receiving Spam SMS at least once a day. All but one are marked as spam by Android so far.
But how do I know they are responsible for this? - I am very adamant about giving my phone number to others, I even carry a burner prepaid number for sketchy services where I just change the number/sim if this started. - For some reason I did not use that number for signing up on Whatnot (I probably pre-trusted them as LTT is using the service) and used my main number.
I successfully avoided receiving spam on that number for >10 Years now. As I did not signed up or used that number for anything new the last few month. So it easy to pin-point to them.

Besides this (i have no other prove than the timing), the whole service is at least as slimy and sketchy as a backroom porn site. Please never use that service again.

Apple appearantly has a timeout timer for that where you need to veryify you are still using imessage by recieving a confirm message to the number via imessage.

So basically it will work for a little bit till the timer runs out.

It ended up taking over two weeks to fix.

They said because of a technical thing they can't give me extra time.

    Such a s**t company.

Edit: Additionally. HELLA COMPLICATED to get set up. If you message and message eventually you get software access.

Forgot about the overhead in my initial post, so I just spent the past 30 minutes checking to see how bad it actually was.

5600 CL46 (JEDEC, complete auto timings)
    6400 CL32-39-39-102 XMP
    8000 CL36-47-47-128 "XMP" (auto subtimings)
    6400 CL32-39-39-40 easy sub-timings (copied from Buildzoid):
    7200 CL34-45-40-40 Maxed out sub-timings:

So yeah, the RAM Disk software is definitely the bottleneck here, since with the exception of sequential reads the performance doesn't change much. Even then, the timings have a bigger affect on the sequential read performance than the frequency does for whatever reason, so going for an 8200 CL38 kit makes no sense in this application.

The 4090 FE is OOS it seems, but they have the PNY GeFroce 4090 ARGB 24GB XLR8 in stock!

And honestly better deal is most likely all of their cards being at retail and ready to ship.

I have been making purchases at the Army exchange. Stuff like an iPad...often Apple stuff is discounted very well.  If you're worried, and have the correct access, you can even walk onto a US Military base and do 'pickup at store'. But I'm too far from a Navy base, so online will have to do.

A correction, it is the last 4 of your social, rather than full social, a fairly standard 'Veterans verification' service.

And... no taxes! Fucked up my hips in the Army, but, hey, no taxes.

Please look at the website. It is the US Navy Exchange. It isn't a random mom/pop shop.

If you are rated service connected disabled, you can shop here. Just verify with your ssn the last four of your ssn. Don't have to be Navy vet. Or if you're active US military.

But... 4090 at retail. And $10 off with coupon code: NEWYEARS2024
    expires on the 6th.

Edit: I've seen the 3080 in stock for a while now there, too. Weird that 'Retail' is a discount.

edit: A correction, it is the last 4 of your social, rather than full social, a fairly standard 'Veterans verification' service. Edit2: I already made my account with them, so I can't show it, but here is the same form but for americanforcestravel.com, it's DOB and last 4 of social. Of course you should verify the website is true to what it says.

I remember my grandfather explaining that concept, in regards to missile systems and radars.

Make sure the cables are firmly seated, that's about the only major thing there. Read the manual for the power supply and the GPU.

that pin is for hotplug detection. it is shorter than the rest because it is designed to be physically the last pin to make connection.
it isnt exactly used in desktop environments, but if the motherboard supports it, you can slam home that pci-e card in a running system and it will just show up in the os thanks to that pin.

Aren't you talking about some of those thunderbolt eGPU solutions that have the PSU built-in? They still need a PSU anyway, the only difference is that it's built into the product already.

If you're chasing the best temps, these are the heatsinks you want, as pointed out by @flibberdipper above. Jasper consoles should already have the extended GPU heatsink though. It may be alarming how hot the heatsink feels, but unless the console is flashing two red quadrants, there's no cause for concern, so I don't think you have to do anything beyond ensuring it has room to breathe and isn't plugged with dust. Really, the only thing that could kill a Jasper console is E74 - failure of the eDRAM chip. It's rare but it happens, and if I'm not mistaken, fixing that was the entire reason Microsoft created the Kronos/Jasper v2 revision, which makes up roughly all "Phat" consoles from ~August/September 2009 onwards. Beyond MFR date, Kronos can also be identified by the presence of two aluminum/non-heatpiped heatsinks, as shown here (which, weirdly enough, appears to be a July 2009 Kronos)

Recently, I repasted my Zephyr Halo 3 console. Specifically, it is a "Zephyr C" as it has the 90nm CPU, but 80nm GPU and eDRAM. Against almost all the advice 360 owners would give me/you, I've made it my "main" Xbox 360 (and I have a backup MW2 console, as that's a guaranteed way to get a Kronos revision). I bought it used in February 2020 and it's still going strong. It's a bit worrisome how quickly it warms up - the exhaust is already hot just a minute after startup - but it's never given me problems, even when I try to torture it with extensive GTA V sessions. I wonder if it'll outlive your Jasper, at this rate. 🤭 Jokes aside, enjoy the many years with yours!

This screenshot was on a 13700K with DDR5 7200 CL34-44-40-40 with custom sub-timings, so about as fast as you can hope for.

A lot of this will come down to specific software that you're using and what has the least amount of overhead. This was the first one I found (ImDisk), so take that for what you will. For reference, with the 2nd piece of software I found (SoftPerfect RAM Disk) performs significantly differently on the exact same setup:

just remember that you should keep the single disk access speeds similar..  one being alot slower can cause issues... setting up two gen4's in a raid0 should get you closer to gen5 speeds and be cheaper..
i've only tested this on gen3 disks.. one on cpu the other on chipset m.2 ..  two disks on chipset slots i think would slow both down..  and 2 disks on cpu controller can reduce available PCIE lanes so your 4090 only get 8 lanes, not 16. depending on board and cpu setup.

found a video on the topic..
